  1. Dr. Doganay, This is a beautiful result. Do I understand correctly that this 3,900 graft case used the FUT (strip) extraction method, after which the dissected grafts were loaded into Choi Implanter Pens for implantation?
  2. That is beautiful, delicate and refined work, Dr. Gabel. This woman must be so happy to have her eyebrows back.
  3. A judicious use of grafts resulting in a cosmetic improvement greater than the numbers would suggest. Well done!
  4. Thanks very much for your helpful and informative response, Dr. Charles. Much appreciated.
  5. Let's say you get a hair transplant that completely recreates your hairline and frontal third. Prior to the transplant, the recipient area was devoid of hair. The transplant is successful but a year and a half later you decide to have a second transplant to enhance the density of the earlier transplant. Will the previously transplanted hair be any more or less susceptible to shock loss (temporary or permanent) from having grafts implanted amongst it than if it was pre-existing, native hair?
  6. Great write-up, GBU! I felt like I was right there with you. As others have said, you picked a terrific doctor, and your work post-op looks excellent and should produce a fantastic result. I look forward to following your case, as I do all of Dr. Konior's cases.
  7. Wow! Talk about Dr. Umar making the very best of a very bad situation. Compare pic no. 7 (before) with pic no. 8 (after), and compare pic no. 5 (before) with pic no's 6 and 10 (afters) to get an idea of just how far this fellow has come and how much better he looks. Incredible work on what appears to have been an incredibly challenging case.
  8. Holy cow! As others have said, this has to be one of the most remarkable ht transformations ever. Granted, this fellow's hair characteristics are ideal, but I think it is safe to say that the results wouldn't have been nearly so good had he gone with a less skilled doc. I am always intrigued by the immediate post-op hairline designs and hairline graft layouts of the top ht docs. At least with this patient, Dr. Diep seemed to favor quite a bit of irregularity in the frontal layout, which seems particular suitable for this fellow with his very wavy and (apparently) thick caliber hair characteristics. Beautiful work and amazing transformation.
  9. Hi japzuki, So far so good. The immediate post-op photos look like Dr. Keser did an excellent and refined job for your relatively modest needs. Don't be alarmed when you notice yourself losing the hair from the transplanted grafts in the coming weeks. Most if not all of it will fall out before the actual, long term growth from the grafts occur. That's just how it works. It is called the "ugly duckling" stage of the ht. You will probably start to get a good handle on how things will end up looking in the 5-8 months post op range, and the hair growing from the grafts should continue to get better (mature and thicken) as time passes and the hair goes through growth cycles. Please keep us updated of your progress. Grow well.
  10. Hi Bill, Nope, I've not had any work done by Dr. Diep . . . but I would certainly consider it based on the case results I've seen thus far. I only learned about Dr. Diep and his work a couple of days ago because of the results he posted here and word from site management that he was under consideration for recommendation. I just thought it was worth a mention in the FUE section since FUE seems to be a specialty of Dr. Diep. I understand that site management is awaiting additional photos from Dr. Diep to better document his work. I look forward to seeing those as well.
  11. Hey Guys, Check out both the FUE cases of Dr. John Diep (from California) posted in the docs/clinics results section as well as on his web site. He is about to be in the hopper for recommendation by this site. Also look at the videos on his site and on YouTube showing his FUE work in action and befores/afters. This looks to be some very impressive, refined, natural and (apparently) dense FUE work. Dr. Diep says on his site and in his videos, that he's developed his own FUE manual extraction tool (he displays and demonstrates it in some of the videos) that he says helps him get precise depth and angle with each excision and allows him to obtain healthy and robust FUE grafts. He says he can do as many as 3,000 one-pass FUE grafts. He has also submitted some very impressive FUT work for higher Norwood classes, but he says he specializes in FUE for Norwood II's - IV's.
  12. Congratulations on your excellent repair work with Dr. Wesley. In addition to being a terrific surgeon he is a terrific guy. Your hairline and front look SO much more natural now, and as that was your stated goal, you've achieved it! Do I understand correctly that you will be having another repair session, this time to the left side of your hairline? If so, please update us with photos of that session and your matured results.
  13. Congrats on your Konior ht! And thank you for sharing your experience and journey (your hair restoration site is particularly thorough and well done). You wisely chose one of the very best ht docs in the world. Everyone should heed your advice not to "go cheap" when deciding on a ht doc, even if you must beg, borrow, finance, or steal. This is cosmetic surgery, after all, and you want the very best cosmetic surgeon you can find. That usually means paying more for their skill, talent, and experience. Looking for per-graft "bargains" is fraught with peril. Also great for you that Dr. K managed to get nearly 1,000 more grafts than were targeted. I think you made the right call to leave your crown be for now and let Dr. K work his magic in your frontal half. You're right at the point where great things should be about to happen. Please do keep us updated of your progress. Grow well!
  14. Like cowl said, there is a difference between shock loss, on the one hand, and the shedding of the hairs from the transplanted grafts, on the other. Shock loss refers to the temporary loss of native hair (non-transplanted hair) around the donor strip or native hair near to or amongst transplanted grafts, caused by the trauma of taking the donor strip or making recipient sites. Some ht patients experience some shock loss of native hair, others don't. What you seem to be describing is the standard shedding of the hairs from the transplanted grafts. This is normal and expected. Most or all of the hairs in the transplanted grafts will shed (fall out) within the first couple of weeks following the transplant. Not to worry. Grafts typically shed their growing hairs soon after being transplanted and the follicles then enter a dormant stage lasting several months. Then the new growth cycle kicks in and all those hairs that fell out of the transplanted grafts are replaced with new hair that starts sprouting and popping through the surface of your scalp. The hairs produced during this first post-transplant growth cycle can be somewhat wiry, thin, and/or course, but again, not to worry. The hair will mature and its quality will improve and return to normal (as it was when formerly located in the donor area) as it passes through additional growth cycles. That is why everyone says it can take 12-18 months to fully assess a hair transplant. So try to relax, and here's wishing you great growth and success.
  15. Great to see things coming along for you, Spanker. At only eight weeks, things are looking promising indeed. We all want your hair.
  16. Thanks, Sean! It was cool to see Dr. Rahal with the ARTAS in action. Matt from Dr. Rahal's office has started a thread about Adamo's case.
  17. Good luck to Adomo! (and good luck to Dr. Rahal and to ARTAS!) To me, the critical questions regarding ARTAS as an FUE harvesting tool this case will contribute to answering are: 1. Will ARTAS make the harvesting of high-quality FUE grafts more repeatable and faster and, therefore, allow for more consistent and predictable large session FUE transplants? 2. Will the punctate scarring in the donor region be any more or less noticeable with ARTAS than with manual punches or hand-held motorized punches?
  18. You can get an online prescription for Propecia and purchase it through an extremely reputable outfit called KwikMed. It is a state licensed, US based online pharmacy that prescribes and sells Propecia, various FDA-approved Erectile Dysfunction meds, Chantix, and Ella (an emergency contraceptive). You fill out a free online medical questionnaire, which is reviewed by one of the company's affiliated physicians, and the medication is then sent to you via Fed Ex or Priority Mail. They don't sell Proscar, just Propecia, so it will cost significantly more per dose if you have been splitting Proscar pills. However, they often email out notices of special discounts for refills. I've ordered from KwikMed for years and have had universally positive experiences with them. Highly recommended.
  19. Very, very happy for your Bucks! You chose a great surgeon who forever rid you of the Eddie Munster look. Grow well.
  20. I think that dude85 is asking about a particular surgical procedure called "hairline lowering surgery" or "forehead reduction surgery" vs. having a hair transplant. All I know about hairline lowering surgery/forehead reduction surgery is that involves making an incision in the hairline, pulling the hairline forward and excising the excess skin, then suturing the hairline down in the new forward position, perhaps using a form of tricophytic closure that allows some hair to grow through the scar line. I don't know of any ht docs recommended on this site that do that procedure, but I could be wrong.
  21. Another spectacular result from Dr. Konior, and one of his higher graft count one-session cases for frontal third-half, that I can recall. This fellow must have had dense donor and good laxity.
  22. Looking really, really great, Spanker! You have to be encouraged and excited.
  23. Beautiful revision, Dr. Dorin! This fellow must be thrilled. Was this revision done in one session?
