  1. great points guys.....yes i agree it does take skill to perfect and get it right, same as a leg press machine or bench press...looks easy but so many small points that can double the effect are usually only known by the experts...hence the results are superior... hairthere i agree it does take the feel and skill of an artist.....maybe some can pick it up quickly while others might poke their eyes out Like Scar5 said, maybe a husband wife team with a lot of practice could get DECENT results on a limited scale....like a bit of scalp shading where there already is hair just to darken the contrast and to go as slow as you want is a great way to aviod mistakes...the whole bare head? wouldnt even attempt it.. even fixing a scar on the back Taking a course, reading about all the techniques and lotsa practice before trying a safe area is a no brainer
  2. Scar5......my kit is actually in the mail as we speak...had the same thought a month back 2-3 day course to learn this stuff, plenty of practise skin to buy to get the hang of it.... ill tell you this, ive contacted ALOT of places, to ask what size needles they use or where they buy their ink , none will respond or only with we use a special blend thats a secret, needles are unique to our salon or some bulshit you hit the nail on the head when you said how hard can it be....No dissrespct to the reputable places that are trying to make moey doing a service .i know it takes aLOT of practice and doing a hair line, and i wouldnt attempt an entire head , but just to fill in a scar or a few spots shouldnt be tht difficult after a bit of training.. of course we;ll hear the " youre crazy " arguments and its a special talent that only a trained professional can do, etc....which I agree to some extent, but some cant afford to pay 1000 plus another 1000 for touch ups every 16 months... Hey some can fix their own car and others cant change a flat.....some people doing self hair simulation could pull it off and others might not
  3. i still think darking of the scalp can help alot with SMP, unfortunately yes those hairlines have to be perfected....lets not forget how utterly rediculous and shitty the first transplants looked when first being introduced....this is a newer procedure that all the so called specialized clinics want to cash in on... same with normal tattoos...drop by any laser removal clinic and see all the shitty work being erased...tattooing is one of the simplist skills to learn and im thinking thats why theres so much crap work....1 week of training and youre good to go.. I I still find its alot of BS about special ink and special needles that are exclusive to that particular clinic. and the fact the temp ink lasts 18 months at a redo at 600-100 a session makes it very lucrative for the clinic...i think that part has to be improved...
  4. does anyone in the toronto area ( or ontario ) offer PERMANENT makep to fix a tansplant scar? most places over temporary, but im looking for the permanent option.....( for the scar at least )
  5. hello all... just wondering would 1500 grafts make a huge difference in the crown? ( about the size of a tennis ball.....from my previous surgeries thats the amout thats usually standart they can harvest from a strip.......i know it wouldnt be thick but just hoping to make it a bit better.......more so the apparenace of hair to match the front and top
  6. How long is the training course at beauty Medical?? 2 days? a few weeks???
  7. the temprary part is a great thing in case you dont like it it 10 years, but does the ink completely fade after 16-24 moths ?? or START fading.......if it starts fading around 12 months i fear youd need a re do every ayear......which is OK but the [price over 5-6 years would be steep..... if they hand an ink that lasts for 5-6 years that would be great.......
  8. Just curious, is there a standard needle size for performing micropigmentation, or are a few sizes being used???
  9. whats the cost every time you would need a touch up for fading???? ( for instance a re-do every year of so ) Does hasson and wong charge by the hour or do they use another method of pricing??
  10. youre one of the lucky ones... when i first started you think it WONT happen, as youve been told it happens in less than 2% of users so you figure its a long shot that anything will go wrong... but as the months go on and after a year or so you think back and can really notice the difference.....it can be psychological for some but for me it was purely physical...
  11. I still have a very hard time beileving its only maximun 2 percent have these sides....but anyways it does return to normal after you stop the meds, for me i was on for a few years and only after about 5-6 months i was back fully charged,,,, you can lose your erection and more importantly the desire......test replacement can help as well...
  12. sometimes expectations are way too high....you expect a really thick head of hair but thats never the case....might take a few surgeries to get a pleasing result.....
  13. Future HT doc.... great points about this procedure and i think we are all getting more educated by the minute with all these great comments and imput.. I think it should be a patients choice with the temp or permanent...i figure with one session being about a thousand bucks or more, after a few years that will add up..... This makes great business sense but again should be a choice. just like with hair lines its the patients responsibility to ensure they are aware of the pitfalls . and should be guided by the clinics as such.. i understand the clinics concern but it also will cost the consumers tons of money for the same procedure every year.. i think permanent in the donar scar region is a great option, especially if the hair is longer so not many will notice if its a tinge of blue... all depnds how the patient wants to be conservative, not the clinic.... But great good point by HT doc, it is for a small percentage that will work either great or not so great....
  14. agreed.....i look at it more like you dont have to put on toppik or dermatch every single day and have to worry about it rubbing off ( for guys with fuller hair) Not a great solution but makes less white scalp viewable when you look in the mirror...i cant comment on how natural looking it varies between artists as i havent seen any results up close A perfect sol;ution would be a temp ink that lasted 5-7 years....
  15. temp is is great for a few reasons.. hair could turn white ..... it might not look that great down the road and temp will fade,, i have had smp done and getting it touched up is no big deal.... but you dont have to have had it one to figure out why temporary might be a better option...but im no expert so maybe the gentle men from H&W can explain further on my they dont use permanent.. but thats just me......if people want permanent thats their own business... im sure they would have to perfect the permanent ink first and see how it effects long term before some clinics would offer it....
  16. i think most places will use temporary, as ive been to a few consults ( not hasson and wong ) and ive made a few oobdervations.. temp ink is great, as ive heard the permanent turns blue and looks awful. I have dealt with Good look ink, and another in Florida and they were always shady...the final result of permanent would explain why . makes so much sense why these companies charge so much .. Techs will always go a bit lighter to ensure naturallness, exapining if you want it darker you can go back... this will cost another seesion and you will be paying twice as much...playing way too conservative.. again if it is too dark it will fade anyways..... it is a great tool and cant wait until perfected...
  17. heres a question.. does her techniquw change for shorter or longer hair? Once you get the smp can you go from a short hair style to longer or vice versa? ( are stroke lengths the same or differ basically ) good luck on the trip!
  18. Hair there....my prayers go out to your family...Hope things will be ok Very encouraging info about SMP.....im happy the results are pleasing people and will catch on..... yes i will agree its very labour instensive.......( i still beive 250 an hour is LOTS of mony for ANY labour intensive job, but thats me..) i remember as a youngster hauling limestone and patio stones all day for $6.50 lol Good luck with your training........im sure you can help alot of us out with your future skills and make some good dough in the processs! Cheers
  19. Finally an answer in which someone gets what im talking about.... please try to pay attention Raph what we are discyussing, dont jump all over a maybe somewhat off the cuff simile that you think is rediculous....Rediculous i think is writing answers that dont even get what I am discussing.... Milena is at this or that clinic ....Ya no kidding we all know that and who cares? I dont think i even metioned milena and asked what she charges.... Are you aware GHI charges almost 5000 for 5 hours work? You actually think thats ok?? and if it never changes thats fine....i would still like to hear others comments about it...oh wait lemme guess....market driven and thats how it is... if youre the type that will pay or do anything you beat your hair issues so be it.....other dont like the fact we are being grossly overcharged for something most doctors nurses are getting trained to do.... im sure if someone from europe said thats what wed charge for this new high tech battery you wouldnt question it and do it.....of course its not the same as hair loss but its a rough comparioson about PRICING its also rediculous you dont get the point i am making.... to each his own....
  20. oopps...sorry it didnt edit.. hair procedures have changed my life and will be forever thankful, but the PR machine does exist as we all know and us members in the dark not knowing the docs personally, we will always be skeptical... its the SMP clincis and aspects i am debating here....i apoligize for the miscommunication... on another note the members on this forum have always been helpful and have gotten me through the tough times......just so im clear my negativity is more so for debate.... not to bash
  21. rapgh..... just re reading your post , and as you said the stigmas with this procedures are different, and we would all like to know what they are.......specifically... it is NOT to bash anyperson whom performed the procedure, as im sure their work is excellent and a godsend.....but do you think it is wrong to inquire why something is so expenive?????
  22. Paying big bucks for surgery, top docs with artistic hairlines is not an issue, the better docs SHOULD charge more.. but again i will state my question/point.... How much skill and training does it require to tattoo small dots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and even if it doesnt end i can still ask cant i? if someone could provide an answer like " well to tattoo dots as small as follicles we need a speciual tattoo machine which costs 10000, " or " the ink we use that lasts only one year is specially made in iceland and its very expensive" then id be satisfied.... im not looking to pay less for anything but I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT THE HUGE SKILL IS FOR THIS TATTOO PROCEDURE!!! .... would you pay 1000 to have someone change your car battery? Becasue yo know it should NOT be that much ....
  23. good point... it should drive the point hjome that as many doctors come on forums and say they care, its all part of the PR process...they are ( maybe not all ) out for the money and thats it...and i dont blame them as its a business..that being proven from lack of responses .but as i said more than 200 bucks an hour to tattoo dots is F*******G rediculous. guys should be going to the local tattoo shop and get them to add this to their work and charge less.....Let me guess....the doctors wont be able to supervise dots so it would turn out less than par??? still waiting for someone that does SMP to explain their costs .....And we all know its supply and demand, also its marketing 101...people will pay anything when they are desprate for a solution..... Also, spex i think had work done in Milan, could maybe you explain why her dots are far superior than anything we could get in Northamerica???
  24. i would say 100- 200 dollars an hour for this procedure sounds fair....the best tattoo artists in the world for PERMANENT INK charge around this price ( up to 300 im sure ) If I could be so bold as to ask any doctor, clinic, or independant to explain to all of us why tattooing dots that only last a year or so would be more expensive?!?!?!? I would love to hear a sensible, articulate and honest answer to make us feel we are being treated fair by these clinics and not just as people willing to spend anything for a solution ( albiet temporary one )
