  1. i was skimming trough the discussions and i feel bad for the guy who had the procedure done at good look ink.... 5000 dollars to tattoo small dots is an absolute outrage. thank god this forum makes sure people dont get ripped of by GLI or NHI who are clearly taking advantage of people who are looking for a desperate solution. on another note....I cannot wrap my head around the fact their is only one person in Italy that can tattoo small dots on a scalp properly.... im sure it looks great and she is fabulous at what she does, but others have to do a similar good job with this procedure....hopefully it catches on and the prices will go down.....
  2. Just found out Dr Robert Jones od Oakville is offering SMP......could be a great option for guys in the GTA
  3. heres a thought..... if a cure does come out that makes all dormant hair follicles regrow hair, does that mean the areas that have been trnsplanted will become twice as thick? Would it affect transplanted hairs if the old follicles start to grow??
  4. day 2? wayy too early to tell.. you might do really well on the drug so only one way to tell....give it a whirl annd see what happens...losing sex drive is part of the deal for some and the sooner you arent suprised by that the better....doctors and drug companies will downplay it but its a reality.
  5. psychological?? nah.....dont buy it.... with any drug that effects brain functions, ( sex drive, happiness, moodiness) of course people will say its psychological because its physically harder to see....but believe my chemial imbalences casued by these drugs are real....not made up......It would be the same i think as pople psychcoligically seeing more hair becase they are taking a drug that grows it!! You try over time to dicard the side effects as minor and nothing to worry about,( becasue of all the new hair!!) and then when you hear the studys, go off the drug for a bit and realize how much better it feels you decide to speak up.... if you are one of the lucky ones that have no side effects , be thankful but dont discredit the ones that are having bad ones it causes bad side effects in some and none in others and its that simple... You guys have some great points and i just like to give my 2 cents....
  6. i agreee.when yu see the front filled in nicely wou arent concerend too much with the back as you hardly see it, and plus as the last gentleman stated its easier to use concearler on the cron...
  7. id say that someone that says i dont want to take propecia. is saying im not retarded enough to ruin my sex drive to have hair..... anyways.....to each his own on here...people that take propecia and have zero sides have to realize others HAVE sides...i cant understand why most people o this forum cant understand that....
  8. the results of propeicia arent permanent but apparantly some of the side effects are........
  9. All depends....are you a risk taker or coonservative? If you get a HT now you run the risk of losing alot and having to deal with consequences 20 years down the road..OR they might have unlimited stem cell therapy by then?? Finasteride at 22....lower your test levels in the youthful time of your life....makes no sense to me....another risk...maybe it wont have any side effects or maybe they could be harmful..... Point is you will always the conservative side on here.....which are usually older guys whom play it safe...i mean how realistic is to to point out to a 25 year old to "hold off" , and when you are 50 you will have to mature hairline that looks great..... in theory its a great plan, but youll never take the risk to get what you want...i am 45, Dr alvi did my hairline which some on here would say he is placing them too low, but i wouldnt change it for the world... Have to remember, and no disrespect to any of the fine gentlemen that give great advice ont his forum, but these are the same guys that would tell you not to spend but invest, dont get a tat as you might regret it when your 60....never take suppliments and they might have adverse effects when you are older.....good smart advice but sometimes you have to take a risk to live in the now... Some would disagree but thats just my opinion,,,,, having said that i wouldnt put 4000 grafts in the hairline, but get all the advice you can from docs such as rehal. Shapiro, or the experts in the feild...its all up to you but know the risks and be prepared to deal with whatever happens down the road, and the gentlemen before stated you will have more surgeries which is a given......... for me it took 4 over 10 years, but it was worth it....
  10. I wonder if there are any hair salons that specialize in trasnplanted hair....i mean with the thinness and scarring......i can see men whom dont want to do to a place where there are 20 other people around.....anyone heard on a salon or barber that either specializes in this sort of thing or even has a private area to get your hair cut?? Always been curious
  11. I think alot of people might agree that smp works great in areas where hair is grown in and to camaflauge the scalp for the illusion of density... you can see a difference by taking a frontal area with mildly thick hair which you can see some scalp, take an eyebrow pencil and just poke in some col;our...looking in the mirror you now appear thicker, because you cant see light coloured scalp in contrast with hair...as another option for some is dye the hair lighter to more match the scalp colour..not the ulitate solution but a good option. in the crown it would prob work really well
  12. ive contacted a few of those smp clinics, and they all seem shady to me....Jotronic is correct when saying they dont have the patients best intrest in mind...they are relying on people wanting deperately a fix for the problem.. How outrageous is almost 4000 dollars for a 6 hour tattoo procedure of dots?? I think the good part of SMP is covering the linear scar, reducing the contrast of hair and scalp...not the best solution but at least its not noticable.. im sure its hard for some to shave the head, but if your going to keep it short at a young age wait for HM....doctors NEVER say its not if its when so at least theres a light at the end of the tunnel....i woudnt trust those companies for a second
  13. no problem... its a tough call....i was in your same shoes and was getting used to the sides as the new normal way of life....i didnt realize how much it effected me until i actually did stop...... Have you cansidered using Rogaine to see if that works just as well?????
  14. Zenmunk,,, was on for about 6 years..... sexual sides were the only effect i could think of, but im sure that alone would cased mild depression ( which thinking back might have had ) About a year after stopping it just gradualy got back to normal, no more effects whatsoever.... My hair loss has stabilized, and since i had my 4th surgery its alot fuller anyways..... i also did a few months on effexor, which kills sex drive as well but you feel so great you dont care... with propecia your sex drive dies but you worry and are deflated about it...hence causing depression in some....
  15. have been off propecia for about a year now......and would never go back for the sake of some hairs...I have been through 4 p[rocedures so if happens to thin a little in the back i would rather wear a small piece......My sexual drive has finally gotten back to normal after all those years and personally i dont thi its worth taking for a bit of hair.....( uinless you have no side effects then thats a bonus ) Just my two cents...the stuff has some nasty sides and youll see for yourself once your off.......too bad it didnt INCREASE your libido.....
  16. I think SMP is in its early stages and needs to be perfected.....the idea is great, and it could really help guys with no alternative,,,,, I remember back in 1990, i would NEVER think of getting a hair transplant done as all i could think of was the corn rows and unnatural look......everybody remember those days?? Point is the more it generates interest and more fine tuning is done i believe it will be perfected........
  17. id stay away from good look ink...you realize they charge almost 5 thousdand dollars for 5-6 hours work of tattooing??? Ive spoeken withthe sales guy and instead of facts he goes on about him being the guy of TV whos also had it done...." not only the hair club presendent but aslo a client " kind of deal... the best tattoo artists in the world charge around 300 an hour to create beautiful artwork so can someone tell me how it costs more to tattoo dots?? Leeme guess....3d effects are needed so they use " special: ink and a technique???? Obviously they are playing on our hope of a solution and making us pay dearly for it....and as youve stated still wont put anythng in writing or even return a call....
  18. SOunds good...i persopnally had my sex drive plummet while on the meds....For those whom it does not effect thank the lucky stars you can function normal...Ive heard a lawsuit has been launched, and i dont think a med that would grow hair with no side effects that would happen to. Guys would be way to happy picking up chicks in their new convertables to have time.. That being said one persons experience doesnt hold a ton of water......some people have smoked until 80 and not gotten cancer,,,,
  19. BTW...if you like yur head shaved......KEEP IT!!!! every other option is a long painful pain the the ass process.....hair systems are los and lots of hassle.....shaved heads these days are stylish and in fashion...
  20. definately a hair system...i think everything other than a transplant is...just a different name or marketing tool... They just insert the hairs one at a time into the membrane that glues to your head.......
  21. I think the SMP is a good idea.....just to camoflauge a bit of the contrast between skin and hair...i have dont it with my scar and it looks alot better... As for Good Look Ink i have inquired to them and 4000 dollars for 3-4 hours work of tattooing is ludicris..i feel they ake advantage of the lack of competition and overprive their procedure....the world best tattoo artists are charginf 500 and hour and they charge evern more to tattoo dots on your head......
  22. in ontario most any cosmetic surgery including hair restoration was tax deductible until about three years ago.....
  23. take at least three weeks off...its a major pain and it puts your life on hold, but trust me after streching the scar wider than it shuld youd wished you had....three weeks is a good break for your body to heal and you can come back strongr...
  24. About 10 days after 1500 gratfs, but seems not to be much scabbing in the recipient area ..... THe other surgeries ive gotten was alot, but this one seems pretty clean...is this normal????
