  1. Hey everyone! I am a little late on my 8 month postings...I'm around 8.5 months now but these pics were taken at 8 months. I have been enjoying my hair that I don't post that often anymore...which shows how I have moved on. Things are great...still growing thicker every day. I love having my hairline back and it makes my life a lot easier every day. Take this weekend for example...I had a wedding and had to stay over someone's house afterwards. i put ZERO TOPPIK in my hair and funny enough i was running so late that i had 5 min to do my hair...normally it would take like 20 min to put the toppik in, but with hair...I was able to take my typical 3 minutes to do my hair and it came out greattt!!! Staying over people's houses like i did after the wedding is wonderful and i woke up not fearful of having Toppik all over the pillow case...my hair looked just as good as it did for the wedding! What a great feeling...for those of you using Toppik you definitely know what I'm saying. You too can have this feeling...you just have to stand up and say NO MORE...and go check out the great options there are for HT's! Hope everyone enjoys the updated pics and as always, feel free to email/comment as I still enjoy giving back to this great community as so many of you helped me get to this point!!!
  2. U def. dodged a bullet...I would also consider dr. Rahal too...check out my before n after n that will give u an idea of how great he is...get a few opinions before u decide on a dr...it will educate u
  3. It's funny how people deem it ok to insult people about hairloss in public...yet saying people gained weight is taboo...I only hope one day this is reversed!
  4. I fell like people r always looking for ways to avoid ht detection but wind up sacrificing ht quality in the interim...a ht is a long term solution...to stop sugar coating it I r gonna look bad before u will look awesome...that is a fact...so many people try to avoid looking bad but this is just a fact u have to accept...I accepted it n I looked pretty bad for months...but that is nothing compared to how I look now n for the years to come...a small price to pay. So please don't try to take the easy way out bc that doesn't exist!
  5. I was able to finance a good portion by obtaining a 0% credit card...actually had to get 2 of them to have the credit line I needed. As noted above...if u have it as a high priority u will find a way to finance it. I just thought about all the other useless stuff I buy meaning say leasing a car...u wind up spending a lot more than a ht on it over the lease and u come away with nothing at the end...so at least a ht is forever and it will literally change ur life unlike probably any other purchase u will make. Again...it comes to how high u place getting a ht over other priorities. To me it was as high as u can get bc it was holding me back so much and now I am free...free of the hairloss burden that affected my everyday routine and life.
  6. Hang in there buddy...we r all in it together! Take ur time off and relax a little...let everything work itself out
  7. Hey Mixed Guy: I am just about at 8 months. Hair looks great...such a life changing procedure...I truly recommend it for everyone who truly suffers deeply from hair loss because it will change everything. I will be posting pics and my update shortly...stay tuned!!!
  8. Sean, I haven't been on in a while and haven't really read too many of your posts recently. I just read some of them...keep your head up buddy...it takes some time to fully grow out. As others have said, your hair appeared to be originally really nice and I can see how you wanted the 3k to make it a slam dunk. Pictures are tough to get the full view and feel of someone's hair so with that said, it is tough to full get what is going on with your hair currently. Believe me, I totally understand the pain and suffering that goes along with a HT...def the money but also the time involved in caring for your head like a new born baby...taking the propecia, applying rogaine twice a day which is a huge pain and babying your hair. You went to the best surgeon out there and I am sure he will help you if he can going forward. I think your hair looks good buddy...so just hang in there and please keep us all posted!
  9. Hey...no way around this. Just have to pay it...sucks but it is what it is. To me, money of course is an issue but when it comes to something serious like a HT...the 13% tax was nominal...just another cost. Don't not go to someone in Canada just because of the tax...you will wind up spending a lot more to fix the bad HT job you received and that will cost more than 13% lol.
  10. Hey Everyone! It is time for another update! I am currently at 7 months...time has flew by! My hair continues to get stronger and I am thankfully still finished with Toppik as I posted in my 6 month update...that alone is such a weight off of me. My hair this month was very wavy...almost out of control wavy in that the new hair is very coarse and almost like steel wool! lol. I know this is normal in that the hair is still immature and needs to mature some more. Def no true complaints here. I put gel/glue product in my hair and it is so curly but again if that is my only issue then I am winning! lol. Does anyone have a suggestion and/or hair product to straighten out my hair...especially my hairline. I use a glue like product now bu it still doesn't truly control the wavy/coarse hair. I imagine I still have more months to grow and/or mature so I am looking forward to that. My crown continues to hold up as I am on Propecia now for about 14 months. I also have since been on Rogaine about 3 weeks after my HT so figure around 6 months. So please feel free to drop me some comments and let me know your thoughts. As always, I am here to help others as so many of you have thankfully helped me through this amazing journey! So feel free to email me any questions/inquiries about my HT and/or doctor choice.
  11. If u feel that way then u r not ready for a ht...the little down time is worth the yrs of happiness it will give u. If u pick a good surgeon u will have nothing to worry about
  12. Thanks Everyone!!! I didn't get the final numbers but I asked Dr. Rahal back when i had it done and he said I think 60-62 ish in the front and then scaled back as it went deeper into my head. If you all remember though my hairline was a mess and was barely there anymore...so this was necessary to get good density and build it back up. Dr. Rahal said I had plenty of grafts remaining to cover any future surgery...at least 4k left but I'm sure I could get more if need be via FUE. The last time i saw him which was in May he said he wouldn't recommend any more HT's as of now as my crown is holding up...not a perfect crown area as he said there was a little loss but nothing that would be visible at this point...he said he wouldn't recommend anything at this time which was great to hear! I am currently on Propecia (no sides thankfully) and Rogaine. Propecia since May 2010 and Rogaine since post 3 weeks...so around Christmas time 2010. He didn't just do the hairline packing...he went pretty deep into my head...90 cm's which is a lot so the 4,616 grafts went a long way.
  13. It is that time again for another update! I am now at the 6 month mark...man time flies when your growing new hairs everyday!!! lol. My hair is thickening and also getting more mature everyday now. I know I may sound like a broken record, but this has easier been the best decision for me after sooo many lost years of worrying about my hair loss! Having my hairline back now has put me at ease in that I literally don't worry about my hair anymore...I think that is the biggest improvement in that worrying about my hair was a full time job for me...always in my mind and trying to hide my loss with Toppik and other clever ways. Now that I don't worry about it I can focus on other things in my life. It has opened new doors that I always thought would be closed. So if any of you are still on the fence, get off it and get your HT because there is hope for everyone to beat hairloss! I also want to report to everyone that I am officially 100% TOPPIK FREE!!!!! I honestly NEVER thought I would ever say or write that...but the day has FINALLY come where I don't need Toppik! This week I decided Toppik's reign needs to end although it has truly been a life saver for me and without it I would have NEVER left my house because I couldn't face my thinning hairline. It has been such a crutch for me for sooo many years. However, a new era has begun and I am finally free. I can't believe how great my hair looks and with NO TOPPIK! It is so thick and my hairline is so prominent and natural looking. I love not having that stuff in my hair because it does look suspect in the hairline especially since I put a lot on to hide my thinning. SUCH a great feeling not to use it anymore! I remember sitting at a bar with Jotronic in Vancouver when I went for my consultation and he said to something along the line of one day your not going to ever have to use Toppik again and he wanted to be there...so I'm ready for a drink again Joe!!! As always, I'm here to help and answer any questions/concerns anyone has...so please feel free to drop me a line or comment!!! P.S. I have somewhat of wavy hair now (esp with my new hairs they are still immature and tough to manage a little), so I was curious if anyone had/uses a product that tames wavy hair to make it perhaps a little straighter and easier to manage. Thanks everyone...check out my new pics below!!!
  14. Def nice improvement...you must be so excited!!! Congrats...def a great job by Dr. Rahal! Keep us posted!!!
  15. Thanks everyone for your great feedback and compliments. It has really been a great ride thus far! It is weird because I can't remember what I looked like or felt like with my old hairline/hair. I almost feel like I always had this hairline...so what I did was look back at my old photos to truly appreciate my transformation...check them out...these were taken as far back as last May and some were this past Nov/Dec prior to my surgery. I literally had ZERO hairline and no temple points at all! I was a hair mess to say the least! Levrais: The few people that know in my family are blown away...just today when I saw my mom I told her that I had NO TOPPIK in my hair...she didn't believe me!!! I have been waiting for the day when I didn't have to wear it anymore...it is liberating to say the least! I have also ironically been getting comments like I look younger...which I NEVER got before...so it could def be the new hair bc we do get judged based on our hairline/hair. So I'm happy about that. I have more confidence overall. Mickey85...thanks for your comments. I was taking Propecia for about 7 months prior to my surgery...so it has been a full year now. I started the Rogaine Foam about 3 weeks after the HT as that is when the doctor said to get on it to increase blood flow which ultimately aids in hair growth. Outside of that, I take a standard multi-vitamin...nothing else. I was/am looking into perhaps taking MSM and Biotin which I have seen a lot on this forum but nothing as of yet. P.S. Tell your Dad thanks!!! lol
  16. sweeeet....can you say EXPLOSION!!! and you are under sun light which normally is harsh for anyone...but your hair looks amazing!!! keep up the growing NHP!!! Good stuff!
  17. Hey Everyone! Well I am at the 5 month mark and it is time for an update! I met with Dr. Rahal in NYC last week and it was a perfect time for him to examine me as I am a month out of the growth phase. He said my hair is growing nicely and am on pace to have a great result...even better than what it looks like now, which is great news!!! He also said the scar is great too and pretty much undetectable. He also said that he sees a lot of stubble/tiny hairs that are ready to come through. I've noticed my hair is getting denser and thicker as when I look at my 4 month pics I noticed a nice improvement in density/thickness. Can't wait to see what month 6 has in store!!! I said it a hundred times, but I'll continue to say it...this was the best thing I ever did...it has not only improved my confidence, but just as important, it has finally allowed me to not focus on my hair loss 24/7 which is what I did ALL day long. It is such an amazing feeling to not have to worry about it anymore...especially knowing that is is growing!!! Another great thing is that Dr. Rahal checked out my crown for any loss and he said that he does not advise any further surgery at the moment as my crown is fine...I was pretty happy about that!!! He said he can see slight loss but nothing worthy of worry in that there is no bald spot or anything that would have someone believe I am losing...just probably upon deep examination he could tell a little...but I've been on Propecia for a year now and hoping it will hold it off. One more note...Dr. Rahal asked me to blog for his site about my HT journey and show my progression via pictures like I have been doing on this site. I was flattered considering his website is where all of his patients see results. It was a great feeling to have him want my hair on his site! So stay tuned as his site will have blogging by his patients to get a better up close and personal look at real results. I'll let everyone know when I have blogged so you can check it out! It is a great website for potential patients too! Well that is it for now...if you have any questions please feel free to ask! I would also appreciate your comments! Thanks!!!! P.S. I have updated my collage...so the top right is 2 mths, bottom left is 3 mths, bottom right is 4 mths and top right is 5 mths. This really gives a good depiction of the growth and density increases.
  18. NHP...u r looking great...and only at 3. 5 months!!! Hang in there as you are about to explode with new grafts coming through! Can't wait to see your next month pics! Rahal is a great doc and you know based on his results he produces great work so you know what great things are in store for you and your hair!
  19. Looking good...you must be excited! Keep us posted!! congrats!
  20. Looks amazing...congrats...another great Rahal result!!!
  21. Thanks for all the comments guys...much appreciated. Slickers...the scar is great...don't even think about it anymore...I didn't take pictures because you can't see it so it was thankfully pointless! lol. There is still some slight numbness/tingling but that is expected and def nothing to complain about. I always thought Rahal was using some magic juice too when I saw all his early growers on this site lol. I signed a consent form stating that I wasn't allowed to talk about his magic juice so that is all I can say about that! j/k! lol. He is a pro and has a nice competitive advantage over other surgeons apparently...I agree somewhat with Bonker's comments about not being patient physiology as obviously that plays a part but ironically all of Rahal's patients have early growth so it has to be something with him as well.
  22. Lookin gooood! Congrats...glad everything worked out for u!!!
  23. Thanks guys...much appreciated!!! Hairfusion: Thanks...I would love nothing more than to retire my new hair in the Rahal Hall of Fame! lol Bonker: There are still some gaps but at 3 full months it is quite the result thus far. I def intend on having the gaps grow in in the next few months. How is your HT going? Hopefully you r recovering well!
  24. Thanks everyone...I'm really excited...especially considering that HT are supposed to begin taking off at the 4 month mark! It is amazing how it can change your confidence. Davis91-Thanks for your comments...He did about 60-65 ish in the front...then blended behind it with like 55 ish...then 50, 45, etc. The goal was to dense pack the frontal hairline which is where I suffered the most. He said I had a good donor area in that it was dense/thick and still had plenty for any further procedures. I am trying to avoid them as I have been taking Propecia for about 11 months and started Rogaine after my HT.
