  1. I have mini grafts at my hairline from 10 years ago. You would probably not be able to tell unless you were staring at them from a few inches away. If there was one place they were visible, it'd be right at the root which is unnaturally thick. Natural hair at the hairline is typically very soft and light. So I'm wondering if anyone has tried lightening the root of those hair shafts right at the hairline to lessen the appearance of transplants?
  2. I've always been curious why so few people seem to make the switch from Propecia to Avodart since the latter is obviously more powerful?
  3. Looking good man. So looks like the scabs are gone from the recipient area and should surface again soon in that frontal hairline?
  4. I've had 2 surgeries in my life, Lasik and HTs. In both cases, I had to sign pages of paperwork that detailed things the doctors weren't responsible for. Has anyone gotten surgery and required the doctor to sign one's own paperwork that explains what the doc IS responsible for? Example: "If the donor scar becomes stretched due to doctor's methods, a repair procedure will be performed free of charge." Doesn't this only seem fair to ensure patient and doctor agree to all terms explicitly?
  5. Gotten some really great results and overall reviews/feedback regarding True/Dorin lately. I met with Dr True a few months ago and he seemed like a great guy.
  6. @azn_guy: can I ask how you noticed? Did you get a haircut and just notice the scar was visible? Or had you gotten previous haircuts where it looked fine and then later one noticed it had worsened?
  7. I would like to know the answer, too. Also: how often is the scar stretching the result of doctors' practices, and how often is it the patient's physiology?
  8. Seems dubious to me. BTW, Time to Do Something, it looks like you've had 3 procedures by 3 of the best out there, but no photos/results posted. Any reason?
  9. But if the donor area is too thin as to be depleted and the front is still somewhat thin and the crown balds completely, I'm just wondering what the chances are of looking freakish at an old age.
  10. For many men, the hair on the top of our heads is programmed get less dense as we get older. Does the same happen in the back of our heads where donor hair exists? If so, doesn't this make surgery much more risky? Is there any way to know?
  11. Can you clarify why you're getting scar revision and what went wrong with it? Couldn't find it in this discussion, thanks!
  12. I've been using Toppik for about 9 years and it has been a lifesaver. One thing I've done this year that I wished I'd thought of earlier - when I'm in the shower to wash my hair, I face the shower head but tilt my head down to look at the floor. Then I just use my fingertips to massage shampoo lightly in the top of my head. I also rinse with my head tilted down. What I've discovered is that very little Toppik gets dislodged. So when I'm out of the shower, most of it is still in my hair and I only need a tiny amount. It has greatly extended the life of each Toppik bottle.
  13. Thanks you guys for the info and answering my dumb questions. Sparky I just read your comment, "....one to remove the worst of the grafts from the hairline and use those and normal fue into my scar..." That makes sense, although I didn't even realize doctors did that. So for someone like John Malloy, fues into the scar would solve the problem well, no?
  14. I've noticed you've had a lot of work, but posted no pics. Any reason? Also curious how in 6 procedures (!) you're not to a point where you're satisfied. Or are you?
  15. So in that last pic, is that evidence of a stretched scar? When the hair lay flat over it (as opposed to pulling the hair up, as in the photo), was the scar not covered up at all? Sorry to be dense, just trying to get an understanding of what it looks like.
  16. Questions - So even if your hair is grown out, the scar would be visible? Do you mean it stretches vertically so that there is a visible lack of hair? Can anyone post a picture? Can that kind of scar not be revised?
  17. I was reading some recent comments by members like John Malloy who seem worried about their scar and its stretching. And worried that this is noticeable to people they first meet. I got surgery from MHR 10 years ago and the scar has never been my concern because my hair grows on top of it and it's invisible. *shrug* So why is this a point of obsession for some? And what happens when it stretches, how does it look any different?
  18. This is the main reason I'm considering True/Dorin or Shapiro over Feller. Having a weird two-tone head for months seems much worse than simply looking balding. The effect makes people feel much weirder and I suspect makes them overreact to lots of other small things, too, because of how they're feeling. Whereas thinning hair may suck, but at least it doesn't look like something bizarre has happened to your hair. Also when I got my original procedure at MHR, once the staples were removed, the scar was undetectable because that area wasn't shaved either.
  19. Sorry to sound like a broken record here, as I've asked similar questions before. As some of you know, I had about 800 grafts/strip done 10 years ago at MHR and no shaving was required. I could go back to work after about 2 weeks, although there was shock loss for the first 8 months or so. But in any case, covering up the procedure wasn't a huge deal, as the donor area wasn't shaved either. 10 years later I'm doing research on this forum and it seems like everyone has to shave half their head before surgery. Honestly the freakishness of that makes it a lot hard to decide to get another procedure done. The only good doc I know who doesn't require it is Ron Shapiro, although his office recommends a very short haircut prior to surgery. Anyway, has anyone had a bad result from not shaving all the way down? Does shaving prevent shock loss? Since the front third of my head is covered in those previous 800 grafts, will those fall out during shock loss too, or more likely survive (since they're not terminal)? Thanks!
  20. Question: did he not make you shave your head before the procedure?
  21. TwoTone: would love to see you maintain the blog and update more pics as times passes. Looks great so far.
  22. Sidebar: your work looks great, biscuit. Has anyone noticed or commented, or does anyone actually know?
