Compare your pre and after photos again for your own reference, and if you are losing major ground I would quit. I lost hair in the front even after a HT due to bad reaction (reflex hyperandrogenicity) to finasteride. Was losing hairs in the front all the time while on fin.

Do not got to Bosley ! As the others have already mentioned. Get on a short plane ride to Chicago and see Dr. Konior. HT is surgery is permanent and you only want the very best to touch your scalp, even if you have to travel.

Still one of the best HT surgeons in the world! The guy must be thrilled to be able to wear his hair like that now.

Ok man, I hope you come up with the best plan for you. Tons of info and knowledgable folks here to give you advice. I pulled the trigger on HT#2 only because my hair was thinner on one side. Just be careful not to under estimate the downtime as you know already!

Unless you are wearing a lot of hair spray or hair fibers/thickeners, I would not do a second procedure if I were you. It looks cosmetically thick enough. Not sure if it just the pictures though. Also, if you want to avoid shockloss and obtain max results for HT #2 you are going to have to shave down the recipient area to stubble. It will be pretty hard to hide the procedure, I think the best you could pull off is 2 1/2 weeks if you went to an amazing surgeon (Dr. Konior comes to mind). But I am not well-versed in the FUE gurus and mini-FUE procedures possible, the above is from a FUT point of view.

Is direct sunlight harmful to the grafts/recipient area even after 1 month? From what I've read here on this forum, as long as you don't burn the area immediately post op you should be fine. Are most people entirely avoiding sun exposure until 6 months? Is it even possible if you are working and living a normal life? After a month or so it is more a dis-coloring issue of the scalp rather than a problem affecting continued graft survival. Spanker your hair looks amazing, looks quite thick enough to me and completely natural for your age. I also have never understood why anyone over 30 would pursue closed corners or aggressive hairline lowering either. The norm is for people to thin and bald as they age, and there are enough receding and bald people in the world that you would think society would accept it to some extent (but for whatever reasons some of course don't). I personally have no desire to be a minus Norwood or Eddie Munster. A good HT can make someone look much younger and more confident, which is why we go through the whole process. But there are other things in life like exercise and overall attitude etc. that are also important, if you go around thinking life sucks because your corners are a little thin or your hairline is not as low as the dudes in hollywood movies and do nothing but think negative, you will probably be miserable anyway. Dr. Hasson and Dr. Konior are the best FUT hairline doctors in my opinion.

Yes, as mentioned by MagnumPi make sure you go to a good doctor -> meaning a recommended coalition doctor with lots of proven results. Also, be prepared to shave the existing hair area where the new hair will be placed, this will help minimize shock loss and give the surgeon a clear view where to optimally place the grafts.

All of the transplanted hairs that shed after more than 3 weeks seem to have a kink at the end.

Looking really good for 4 months! Konior is the man. How often did you wear a hat during the earlier months in summer? Also I saw your post op progress PDF earlier in the thread, you mentioned at three weeks "Almost all the transplanted hair has fallen off." Good to know that even when the grafts don't grow un-interupted there is still good progress to be had. Mine also shed like 85-90% by week 3-4.

I agree with the above posters, seems they do grow a little but after 2 weeks expect most of them to start to shed. Especially around 2 1/2 weeks is when I noticed it. Some will stay and continue to grow and lets hope these are in the hairline area. I am also one who likes to hope that the sooner they shed the sooner they will grow back permanently (wishing thinking perhaps).

Just to cover all areas, what shampoo are you using? Overuse of shampoos such as Nizoral can thin out your transplanted hair, this has happened to me and apparently many others according to Spex.

I agree, H&W are pretty close to you if you are in Alberta, it may be worth it to visit them in person first. Dr. Rahal does seem to provide a discount for out of town patients. He will make you get a letter signed by your family doctor that clearly states you are going to have a hair transplant, and they are not flexible about this, just be aware in advance. Dr. Konior does not provide any discount for out of town patients (correct me if this has changed) as he is very busy and also places all of the grafts himself, so he may be your most expensive option. But certainly would be worth it as he is an amazing surgeon. Tough call, those are the top three FUT in NA as far as I know. Contact them all and see what dates they can provide and what experience they can offer.

Never underestimate the downtime involved with a HT procedure. If you can get 3,500 grafts in one shot by a recommended and qualified surgeon, I think it would be better than doing it in two sessions of 2,000 and 1,500 for example. But the more grafts also puts more stress on the scalp though.

Waiting for a HT to grow in is very much like watching the grass grow, just have to leave it and do other things for a while and then come back later to see how overgrown it is.

I think as long as you don't go to Bosley you will be fine. The "scars" produced by the top coalition docs are more of pencil thin lines, if even that. Scalp tightness does exist in the first months but usually goes away.

My current partner said the same to me when she met me, that the first thing she noticed about a guy was his hair and that she liked mine. She stayed with me even after my HT thinned out a little and supported my second one. So it just depends I guess. Have to say I am lucky but agree about society's "paranoia" in general towards thinning and balding. And yes Hollywood does play a big part in it.

Thanks for your reply, yes I think its safe to gently shower and lightly massage the front as you mentioned after 2 weeks. My dr does say normal shampooing is Ok after this time. It's the instructions from Dr. Rahal I had read somewhere - he is not my surgeon this time - which says "go back to normal shower routine" after 28 days that make me think that hard and direct shower pressure should be avoided until a little later than 2 weeks. A guess this is a grey area here regarding how hard direct shower pressure should be used during the time between 2 weeks and one month post HT.

What is the recommended wait time for using hard direct water pressure from the shower into the recipient area after a HT? Some say as little as 7-10 days, others 14 days, and some conservative approaches say wait 1 month. Let me know your preferred wait time based on past experiences. The reason I ask is that I am trying to control some dandruff without having to use harsh nizoral etc as much as possible, and would like to be able to use hard direct shower pressure into my front and hairline.
