I'll be 6 weeks behind you, so I'm excited to keep up with your progress.

Micah let me know if you have any questions. It is an amazing journey filled with some anxiety but my best piece of advice is just relax and enjoy the ride. Where are you from?

I'm from Louisiana but I'll be flying from Houston, TX. I'm pretty excited. I haven't had contact with Dr Gur's office since I sent my passport and flight info, so I'm hoping they have everything arranged.

Same here. We are all here for you. It can be a difficult journey but olebaldy said it best: just relax and enjoy the ride :). After the procedure is done there is not much more you can do except follow the post op instructions. So, don’t stress the process and trust in your research that you made the right decision. You are going to have times where you think you made the wrong decision and that will be during the ugly duckling phase where things look worse than they did preop and nothing is growing as you thought it would but that is perfectly normal. Month three is where I started feeling comfortable in my decision and liking the progress I was seeing. Trust in the process. Good luck!

Here you are, five month update. Hair is getting noticeably thicker. As the follicles mature and get thicker I’ve noticed that a lot of them are a little bit pluggy, especially at the temples of my hairline. you think 400 singles was enough on my hairline? How’s it looking to you guys?

Like noted above, I am currently taking topical fin/min. I have completely resolved my side effects including the anxiety and depression. They resolved a week or two after stopping the oral fin.

All in all, I think I am right on track. Still thin but that is to be expected at only five months in. Five months is about 50% of the expected thickness so I can only imagine what double this would look like when I hit the 10 month mark.

Happy growing :)

Merry Christmas. This will be my six month update but a week early. With the holidays coming up it’ll be hard to update so I just decided to do it now. Attached pics are on POD#162. I created a collage that showcases my before and after. A good landmark is the birthmark on my left temple area. Before the HT the birthmark was in no man’s land, now the birthmark is firmly planted right where the hairline is. The last pic is with my hair wet.

So far, I am pleased and would def recommend going this route again. It was difficult looking in the mirror for the first couple of months but now I see a younger more handsome version of myself and I am more confident now. Transplanted hair isn’t as thick as I hoped but there is still plenty of time and I noticed that the hair that is there isn’t fully matured. Therefore, I know I still have plenty of gains over the next couples of months I am looking forward to.

Some areas are pluggy and I hope that blends in as the hairline gets thicker and more mature. I also wish the hairline came down a little further but I understand that it is a conservative hairline especially with me entering my forties soon.

Doner area is looking excellent without any signs of FUE, scarring, dimpling, shock loss, or anything. I will update photos of the donor region at my next update as there is nothing to show this time since I haven’t gotten a haircut in a little while.

I started dating a beautiful woman who has not mentioned anything about my hair. She did mention that she loves my hairstyle but that’s about it. She doesn’t seem to notice it is a HT. How do you guys handle this, do you tell your significant other?

Still on the topical Fin/Min solution and will refrain from the oral Fin for the time being due to mental health side effects in the past.

Let me know what you think! Thanks and Merry Christmas!!

Nice one mate looks natural , 6 more months atliest for it to thicken up and more hair to sprout out. I was thinking of Dr gur but he Allways sticks around that 3000 graft mark. For my loss IL need about 6000 grafts I wish he did 2 day sessions .

Dr Gur seems to be a very ethical surgeon from what I’ve read. It is not recommended to do big surgeries and 3000 is more or less the middle limit of what you should do in one day. I know there is also a money and economics component to this and I’m sure Dr Gur keeps that in mind too. But, he isn’t a hair mill and does two HT max in a day so I am sure if money was the biggest factor he could maximize in other ways. So, I’d be weary of any place that would do 6000 in a two day session. Protect your donor as much as possible. Good luck to you and thanks for the encouragement!

POD#192.

im happy with the left side of my head. The density there is what I’d expect at this stage. Unfortunately, the right side of my head is leaving me wanting more. The density there is obviously sparse and I hope to have more density in the coming months. I’m close to seven months and that’s around 70% of the density you would typically see. Throughout this process I also found myself to be a slow grower so I hope this is true in this regard as well. Keep in mind that the pictures down below are in extremely harsh lighting so it does look better under normal conditions.

Another point of contention I have is the angulations of the grafts are sticking straight up. I do a good job hiding it with wax and gel but it is for sure noticeable in certain situations.

I am hoping that once the hairs mature and get thicker I will see better density and the hairs won’t stick up as much (hopefully fall down more naturally).

overall, I feel like I look better than I did preop so I am happy with the results so far. Remember, I can not take oral fin so I am on top fin/mim regiment for now. I will reexplore oral fin in the future but not now. So, the results we are seeing are strictly with topical meds.

If you have any questions… ask away.

@Recedingnomore great progress mate and wish you best. I just got out of Gurs clinic and it was a long long day. Now resting and browsing all pages. A few questions for you if you can please answer soon.

1. AboutThe report that took so long to get to you , I suppose they should give it to us post -up. I will be asking it tomorrow when I go back for wash. Did you have trouble getting it when there?

2. Buying any Post op medication , vitamins shampoo, minix. Did you buy anything local and bring back? I am only doing carry on travel as have a quick changeover flight on way back to US.

Anything else you can think of - to ask or buy before departure . I am here for another 3days to get enough rest. Thanks for sharing your journey and wish you best !!

The report was supposed to be in my email after three weeks. This was promised to me by my contact and Dr Gur. It took almost three months to get the report. So, it’s not a deal breaker but it was kind of annoying and shouldn’t have taken that long.

I was always on topical minoxidil but started oral finasteride around the same time of the procedure. I got it from pharmacy in Turkey but for refills in the states near my home. I had to stop finasteride due to mental side effects so I signed up for hims for topical finasteride. I take hair skin and nails vitamins I get from Amazon. Nizarol I order from Amazon. I also started using a pathenol thickening shampoo by clubman I found on Amazon.

Good luck to you! Let me know if you have anymore questions and I hope you post your results. Happy growing!

Have the side effects subsided on topical fin? Thanks!

Yes, since stopping the oral fin the SE subsided about a week later. Now I’m on topical only and I feel back to normal.

Update?

245th day mark which is almost 8 months exactly. There are three groups of pictures below. I got my hair cut today, one group is in the public bathroom with dry hair and harsh light, second group is after applying my nightly minox so it looks wet in the harsh lighting of my bathroom, and the last group is dry in my bed with more forgiving lighting.

I wish I had more density and wish the angulation was better. But with some styling pomade I can get an almost natural look. I’m super critical of myself and I am sure no one else can tell.

Anyway, still, overall I am very happy with the outcome and would still go this route again if given the chance to. I have not told anyone close to me that I got it done and no one has asked. My parents, close friends, girls I’ve dated… no one knows. So if they can’t figure it out then I will take it as a good sign.

I hope to get that 8 month second wave that most people get their density from. I have very thin hair so I believe this is the best I am going to get with my type of hair. I wish I was able to stay on oral fin but topical will have to do for now.

Very nice result - those singles look good for your hair type.  Continue on your meds and in 5-7 years - see how well you've held up (since you are a slow balder w/1st transplant at age 40 & no work needed on your crown).

Cheers!

Your current results are really impressive, especially in terms of the natural and soft look of your hairline. As you continue to heal and the transplanted hair fully matures, you can expect to see even more density. It's common for individuals to notice significant improvements in density during the latter half of the recovery period, which is typically between 8 to 18 months after the procedure. This means that while you may still see some improvement in density over the coming months, the most noticeable changes are likely still ahead of you. Overall, your progress so far indicates that you're on track to achieve a satisfying level of density, and I'm confident that you'll be pleased with the final outcome and won't have any dissatisfaction regarding density.

Congratulations brother.

I’m eight months post op as well and understand the nitpicking ( no pun intended lol) with the hairline regarding symmetry, but as others have pointed out no hairline is completely symmetrical and that would look unnatural. Anyway to echo others it’s a natural looking result and as your hair is more straight you can style it as desired.
