  1. Thanks so much! It means a lot hearing that from you considering your posts have guided me a lot along the way. I will post clearer pics in the next coming days as I was away when I posted that and didn’t have access to my bathroom with the good lighting.
  2. Thanks to all who have responded. It means a lot to hear the feedback. The (mostly) good and the bad. I have been jealous of a lot of you all over the last couple of years and finally joined the club of successful HTs. We’ve beaten our genetics. I’m ecstatic with my results and can’t wait to see the next density wave come in. I will continue to update and answer any questions I receive. thanks again to the community!
  3. Wow. Means so much to hear that from you. You’re one of the GOATs 🐐, so to get that response from you means a lot. Thank you!
  4. 245th day mark which is almost 8 months exactly. There are three groups of pictures below. I got my hair cut today, one group is in the public bathroom with dry hair and harsh light, second group is after applying my nightly minox so it looks wet in the harsh lighting of my bathroom, and the last group is dry in my bed with more forgiving lighting. I wish I had more density and wish the angulation was better. But with some styling pomade I can get an almost natural look. I’m super critical of myself and I am sure no one else can tell. Anyway, still, overall I am very happy with the outcome and would still go this route again if given the chance to. I have not told anyone close to me that I got it done and no one has asked. My parents, close friends, girls I’ve dated… no one knows. So if they can’t figure it out then I will take it as a good sign. I hope to get that 8 month second wave that most people get their density from. I have very thin hair so I believe this is the best I am going to get with my type of hair. I wish I was able to stay on oral fin but topical will have to do for now.
  5. Yes, since stopping the oral fin the SE subsided about a week later. Now I’m on topical only and I feel back to normal.
  6. The report was supposed to be in my email after three weeks. This was promised to me by my contact and Dr Gur. It took almost three months to get the report. So, it’s not a deal breaker but it was kind of annoying and shouldn’t have taken that long. I was always on topical minoxidil but started oral finasteride around the same time of the procedure. I got it from pharmacy in Turkey but for refills in the states near my home. I had to stop finasteride due to mental side effects so I signed up for hims for topical finasteride. I take hair skin and nails vitamins I get from Amazon. Nizarol I order from Amazon. I also started using a pathenol thickening shampoo by clubman I found on Amazon. Good luck to you! Let me know if you have anymore questions and I hope you post your results. Happy growing!
  7. POD#192. im happy with the left side of my head. The density there is what I’d expect at this stage. Unfortunately, the right side of my head is leaving me wanting more. The density there is obviously sparse and I hope to have more density in the coming months. I’m close to seven months and that’s around 70% of the density you would typically see. Throughout this process I also found myself to be a slow grower so I hope this is true in this regard as well. Keep in mind that the pictures down below are in extremely harsh lighting so it does look better under normal conditions. Another point of contention I have is the angulations of the grafts are sticking straight up. I do a good job hiding it with wax and gel but it is for sure noticeable in certain situations. I am hoping that once the hairs mature and get thicker I will see better density and the hairs won’t stick up as much (hopefully fall down more naturally). overall, I feel like I look better than I did preop so I am happy with the results so far. Remember, I can not take oral fin so I am on top fin/mim regiment for now. I will reexplore oral fin in the future but not now. So, the results we are seeing are strictly with topical meds. If you have any questions… ask away.
  8. Yes. Looks like shock loss. I had pretty bad shock loss into my third or fourth month so I am pretty sure yours will clear up soon. I just read your comment about your experience at Turans office. Sorry you had to go through that. However, the procedure is done and there’s nothing you can do about it now. I hope you remain optimistic and continue to see results. Month four is when I started seeing results and feeling comfortable enough not to wear a hat all the time. I hope you get to that stage soon. Continue doing your post op care and all the things that make you feel more confident. Post your progress as that is the only way you can rectify this (for now) if you feel slighted. But to be honest, your results look pretty typical for three months in and I believe you’ll have a better outlook in a month or two. Chin up. Better days are ahead. Ugly duckling phase is only a phase.
  9. Kind of like there is weight classes in UFC or boxing, we should have Norwood classes. A Norwood 6 shouldn’t have to go up against a Norwood 3. You can have awards for each Norwood class.
  10. Dr Gur seems to be a very ethical surgeon from what I’ve read. It is not recommended to do big surgeries and 3000 is more or less the middle limit of what you should do in one day. I know there is also a money and economics component to this and I’m sure Dr Gur keeps that in mind too. But, he isn’t a hair mill and does two HT max in a day so I am sure if money was the biggest factor he could maximize in other ways. So, I’d be weary of any place that would do 6000 in a two day session. Protect your donor as much as possible. Good luck to you and thanks for the encouragement! Thanks so much! I’m excited to see what the future brings.
  11. Merry Christmas. This will be my six month update but a week early. With the holidays coming up it’ll be hard to update so I just decided to do it now. Attached pics are on POD#162. I created a collage that showcases my before and after. A good landmark is the birthmark on my left temple area. Before the HT the birthmark was in no man’s land, now the birthmark is firmly planted right where the hairline is. The last pic is with my hair wet. So far, I am pleased and would def recommend going this route again. It was difficult looking in the mirror for the first couple of months but now I see a younger more handsome version of myself and I am more confident now. Transplanted hair isn’t as thick as I hoped but there is still plenty of time and I noticed that the hair that is there isn’t fully matured. Therefore, I know I still have plenty of gains over the next couples of months I am looking forward to. Some areas are pluggy and I hope that blends in as the hairline gets thicker and more mature. I also wish the hairline came down a little further but I understand that it is a conservative hairline especially with me entering my forties soon. Doner area is looking excellent without any signs of FUE, scarring, dimpling, shock loss, or anything. I will update photos of the donor region at my next update as there is nothing to show this time since I haven’t gotten a haircut in a little while. I started dating a beautiful woman who has not mentioned anything about my hair. She did mention that she loves my hairstyle but that’s about it. She doesn’t seem to notice it is a HT. How do you guys handle this, do you tell your significant other? Still on the topical Fin/Min solution and will refrain from the oral Fin for the time being due to mental health side effects in the past. Let me know what you think! Thanks and Merry Christmas!!
  12. Here you are, five month update. Hair is getting noticeably thicker. As the follicles mature and get thicker I’ve noticed that a lot of them are a little bit pluggy, especially at the temples of my hairline. you think 400 singles was enough on my hairline? How’s it looking to you guys? Like noted above, I am currently taking topical fin/min. I have completely resolved my side effects including the anxiety and depression. They resolved a week or two after stopping the oral fin. All in all, I think I am right on track. Still thin but that is to be expected at only five months in. Five months is about 50% of the expected thickness so I can only imagine what double this would look like when I hit the 10 month mark. Happy growing
  13. Same here. We are all here for you. It can be a difficult journey but olebaldy said it best: just relax and enjoy the ride . After the procedure is done there is not much more you can do except follow the post op instructions. So, don’t stress the process and trust in your research that you made the right decision. You are going to have times where you think you made the wrong decision and that will be during the ugly duckling phase where things look worse than they did preop and nothing is growing as you thought it would but that is perfectly normal. Month three is where I started feeling comfortable in my decision and liking the progress I was seeing. Trust in the process. Good luck!
  14. @Melvin- AdminHere’s a weird and unrelated question… how do you comb and style your hair? I’m digging your style.
  15. Looks great. That patch on the side looks like shock loss and can take some time to recover. Most people usually recover before their sixth month (in my case it was month three) but some can take longer. Either way, Turan is great and I’d expect that hair to grow back.
  16. I got side effects from the finasteride. I was going through some hard personal times and found it was making my depression and anxiety worse. Looking in the mirror and seeing the ugly duckling didn’t help. Confidence was at an all time low. I never had any mental health issues in the past so this was a new experience for me. I’m almost forty so to start feeling this way at forty is something abnormal unless it was side effects. Decreasing testosterone counts can certainly cause these side effects. I tried lowering the dose to 1mg every other day but even after a month these symptoms persisted. Sure enough, two weeks after stopping taking the medication my side effects subsided despite my personal issues persisting. I feel so much better now that I’m off of it. Also, the sexual side effects were adding to the overall problem as well. Anyway, I will try it again at some point in the future but for now I refuse. So, topical fin/min for me until then. @OleBaldy thanks brotha! Can’t wait to see your progress pics. Keep your head up; brighter days are ahead.
  17. Thanks for the encouragement! This is a long process and can definitely beat up on your self confidence so all the encouragement is appreciated.
  18. Good luck! You’re in good hands with their team. DM me if you have any questions or concerns. And don’t forget to post your progress!
  19. Hey peeps. I’m a week past four months (123 days to be exact) and wanted to give a quick update. Hair is definitely getting thicker and nobody could tell at my 20th high school reunion that I had a procedure. It is still thin in the areas I transplanted but it looks like it’s thin due to me receding which is an improvement over what I had five months ago. Anyway, I’m really excited what density I will get in the next couple months and hope it gets much thicker. I had to stop oral finasteride due to side effects. Not just sexual but also mental. I’ve had a very stressful and emotional six months and the finasteride was definitely contributing to my symptoms. Anyway, I am taking the topical fin/min and hope stopping the oral fin doesn’t affect my progress. I will re-explore oral finasteride at a later date when I feel more settled in my personal life. Dr Gurs office reached out to me last week and asked for pictures and an update. They said everything looks to be on track and they are pleased with the results so far. They told me to expect my hair to get thicker and more mature over the next couple of months. They understand me stopping the oral finasteride and encourage the topical fin/min. Overall, so far, I am happy with my results. I do know I will see much more and I am excited to see what the future brings. I will try and update monthly from here on out.
  20. Hey y’all. Day 100 post op here. Finally got some growth and I can finally see a hairline! Starting to feel confident enough to maybe stop wearing a hat everywhere. Pictures attached below. Dr Gurs office finally sent me the report 99 days post op and it will be attached below. I had a thin donor region and have 6000 possible grafts at my donor area. Here are the highlights: 3000 total grafts 400 single (all transplanted to hairline) 1286 double 2314 triples and quadruples 2.3 hair
  21. Hello y’all. I am now 12 weeks post op. Finally seeing some results. The donor area has recovered from shock loss and is only mildly patchy. I expect the minimal patchiness I have right now to resolve with some time. As compared to my previous posts, the big bald spot in the back right and left temple have resolved. The transplanted area is starting to show some growth. Immature hairs and very thin on the density but I’m happy with what’s growing for now. As of two weeks ago I had nothing growing and finally these immature thin hairs are start to come through. This whole ugly duckling phase has definitely messed with my confidence a little but seeing hairs come in has got me excited for the next couple of months. Still on the topical min and finesteride both oral and topical. Finesteride has definitely decreased my sex drive a little bit but my partner hasn’t noticed so it hasn’t affected her. But I can tell I’m not as preoccupied with sex nearly as much. My erections have only given me a problem once but we’re all allowed a bad night every once in a while and u don’t know if I would chalk it up to the medicine. Communication with Dr Gurs office has ceased. Haven’t heard from them in about six weeks and when I inquired about my report they gave me the run around still. It has been three months since the procedure and still no report. I was initially told it would take 3 weeks. Do with that information as you wish. Got a haircut today and the barber seems to think the donor area looks all cleared up with no redness anymore but my hairline is still red. He agreed that everything is looking good and on schedule. What do you guys think? All in all, I’m starting to feel a little more confident in my decision to do this and I’m really excited to see further results.
  22. Hey guys. This is two days earlier than my 8 week update. Slow going’s here. Still in ugly duckling phase and still with redness. Bunch of patchiness from the shock loss in my donor area. There’s still a pretty big circle on the back right of my head which I’m pretty certain will rebound in a couple month. I’m still using oral fin with topical min/fin everyday. I have a date on Saturday and I’m worried about the excuse I’m going to have to concoct or why I’m wearing a hat. Hoping to have better results by my next update. Dr Gurs office hasn’t given me the report yet which is frustrating because it was supposed to be done 3-5 weeks post procedure. Im starting to get some pimples at the hair line which is encouraging bc I believe this means hairs should be popping out soon. Donor area is tender sometimes with some pimples here and there but overall not too bad. Anyway, here are the pics and please comment on what your thoughts are. Thanks.
  23. Hey yall. I am 28 days post op and officially in the ugly duckling stage. All the graft hair has falling out and there is still considerable redness going on at the recipient area. The donor area is healing up okay but there is a noticeable amount of shock hair loss leading to very patchy areas of hair loss. I have followed all the instructions from Dr Gur to the tee but even still have been hit hard by the ugly duckling stage. With that being said, I know it is all part of the plan and hope that, for me, this stage is short lived. Today I got my first haircut and got a 1 fade on the sides and left the top the way it is. Luckily I’m able to cover my head at work otherwise I’d be very uncomfortable and self conscious at work. I continue taking oral fin and topical fin/min. My vitamins continue to be taken daily. Luckily, I have not really noticed any side effects from the fin. Dr Gurs team hasn’t been very active with me post op but I haven’t really been sending them many questions or have any pressing concerns. I researched this process thoroughly so I already have all the question I really needed from this community. I have not received my procedure report from them yet and as soon as I do I will upload it here and update you all. Thanks for all of your support
  24. Hey y’all. I’m POD#14 now. Scabs have all fallen out and I am starting to enter the ugly duckling phase. The temples have started losing hair and getting thinner. The crown is getting thinner, even in places where there was no transplanted grafts (shock hair loss). On day eight or nine I have noticed some grafts come out when massaging the scabs off (picture below). The top of my head is numb which is a new sensation since the procedure. I did my research about the numbness and found it is a normal process that should self resolve in weeks to months. The post op messaging and care from the Gur team hasn’t been optimal. I didn’t hear from them for over a week and randomly heard from them asking for pictures. I am happy with the way my donor area has looked. The donor area is a little red but for the most part it has been unnoticeable. The back of my head is still painful when rubbed a little bit so I stay away from touching it. Having a stronger hairline has given me confidence to walk around without a hat and show off my head even with a buzzcut. Confidence is higher than it’s been in a while. A couple of my girlfriends have told me I look great with a buzzcut and should keep it that way. I can’t believe I spent close to 5k to find out I should’ve been shaving my head anyway. Lol. I dread entering the ugly duckling phase and pray to the hair gods that this phase is fast and minor. Any tips to minimize this phase? Thanks for the support!
