Dr Ball is super conservative. Paternalistic, even. And expensive.

Dr Bonaros seems like a rising star. Much cheaper too.

There's nothing wrong of course with being very conservative, so I wouldn't rule out any Dr based on that alone. Better to be too conservative than too aggressive.

Nothing necessarily wrong with it. It shows he is ethical. It's just a factor of consideration.

Bear in mind though that Dr Mani Mittal will charge you £300 for a consultation with him

No I don’t believe this to be correct, he doesn’t virtual like I did for 30 or so mins at a reduced price and then an in person consult which cost £150. He’s the only surgeon that gave me an hour during consultation and felt unrushed. Ask as many questions as you want and he encourages it. Then go away and think over the information he’s given you. I barely got 10 mins with other doctors. Although they were “free” consultations

I only referred to my experience.  I was quoted £300 for an in person consult and no option for a virtual consult was given.

This isn't true. I had an in person consultation with him at the beginning of February and he charged £150 for an hour. I decided to go ahead with Dr Mani after hearing about his reviews and seeing some good results on here. I requested the consultation fee was taken off the final price, and they agreed to do this.

For anyone wondering, I am booked in with Dr Mani in September 2023.

If this was your experience it does not make my experience untrue.
They offered me a free online consultation with the surgical assistant.  When I asked if I could see the Dr in person I was told it would be £300 for that.

I would not mind paying but did not like how they communicated.  This was in November before I even knew about this forum.

Good luck bud, I’m sure you’ll have a great experience. You’re cheeky to ask for that, but hey ho. You should put up what your goals and objectives are for other members of this community to give you some feedback to. I can’t see that you’ve done that as of yet.

Baal you should do the same. Get a feel for what it is you want to achieve and then you can narrow your search. Again don’t know your circumstances but if Dr Mani was on your shortlist for consults, maybe you can do what “my dad is bald” did and ask for a rebait against a procedure. Sometimes you have to connect with a surgeon and see how you feel about them and if they’re actually going to take your concerns seriously and if what you are asking for is achievable according to them.

don’t get sucked into the free consults with the sales guys who pose as hair specialists. You need to have a in depth conversation with atleast 3 surgeons. And it should be the surgeon. And if they are not the right fit for you move on.

anyway good luck and I look forward to watching your journey. Forums can be hard place to navigate I struggle at the best of times.

Dr mittal is doing great work and evry doctor has different charges and policy so cant turn him down just for that....i believe sometimes its worth spending a bit to get a healthy consultation....at the end this all for a better outcome

I agree and thanks for the advice.

I do not mind paying the consult fee.  My issue was not with Dr Mani, it was more with the manner of communication with the surgical assistant.

Yes I have now had consults with both surgeons and sales people acting like specialists and the difference is night and day.

My procedure is booked for 3rd March and I previously detailed my circumstances with pictures on this post:

(Any feedback welcome)

I never turned the Dr down due to the fee.  It was for reasons detailed in the previous post I just posted.

I agree I have seen some good. Work from Dr Mani

Ahhh sorry to read about your first procedure. Finasteride is very important. A game changer in many circumstances. You have a fairly gappy hairline, assuming what was once there no longer is.

at the end of the day as long as your surgeon has filled you with confidence that he can do the job whilst setting out what is achievable then good luck to you mate. Did a quick search on the doc seems good, but he also worked for dhi.

Yes I know he did work for DHI.  Although DHI wasn’t great for me 20 years ago they can produce some decent results.  Again it just depends on the doc.

I have researched this doc enough to be comfortable and seeing his results first hand.  Doc was very realistic and kept my expectations in check which I accept.  The rest we will find out after the procedure.

Thanks for the advice.  Appreciate it

That sounds strange for The Hair Dr. Although the results were hit and Miss in relation to density, one thing they always prided themselves on is customer service.

Maybe the person I spoke to was just having a bad day

Has anyone used Kensington and Dr Zaman? He has the following qualifications but not sure if any good?

International Certification in Hair Transplantation

Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) - 2019

Membership of FUE Europe

Looked him up on CQS but he’s down as ‘One Medical Clinics’

They aren’t on TrustPilot so can’t see many reviews although Trust Index and Google reviews seem good.

One thing that worries me is I’ve heard they’ve moved to Chiswick but they still have Kensington down as their address on website and no mention of their new address.

They only see 1 patient per day which attracted me to them but want to know more before I book a consultation.

Accreditations are good, just ask who is doing what part of the procedure, and make sure you get a good overall feeling from the other clinic. There are a bunch of good U.K. surgeons, so don’t limit yourself. Do your research and speak to 3/4 surgeons before committing yourself

Thanks quite reassuring. Yes have contacted Dr Mark Tam too and looking at Dr Farjo.
Quite happy with Kensington so far only little red flags are the supposed change of address and lack of patient photos.

I had a consultation with Kensington and Dr Zaman in January.  I was very happy with the consultation and they were still in Kensington.

I would have went with them but opted for Dr Bonaros in Glasgow as he was closer to me and had a slight preference towards his approach.

inhad my procedure on the 1st of March

Just had a look at Dr Bonaros I’m impressed and surprised it’s only £3 per graft maybe because it’s not in London. Will make contact for a consultation.

So far I’m very happy with everything. I got 2019 grafts and my case was challenging.  Only 18 days since transplant so way too early for final results but what I’m seeing so far is exactly what I was hoping for.

I will be posting a full thread if before, during and after very soon.

The Dr was available for me to answer all questions before the transplant by consultation and continued on WhatsApp.  The Dr done all the extractions and implanted all himself.  The surgical assistant helped with graft separation, counts etc. All done using Choi DHI Implanter pen.   The after care so far has been amazing with direct access to the Dr.

Compared to others the Dr was not expensive but in fairness Kensington was only going to be £500 more expensive.

Sounds brilliant glad you got what you wanted so far. If you don’t mind me asking was the 2019 grafts at around about £3 per graft?

Where did you get that price from?
