I submitted my photos to Eugenix yesterday, and was recommended 4500 grafts? Do you think this graft number is too little for my level of balding?

Is this graft quote too little for my level of balding? I thought I was well beyond a Norwood 4, but according to Eugenix i am a 4 as per the email below? Where do they use beard grafts? im assuming on a less esthetic area like the crown or am i wrong?  Also I noticed they did not mention anything about my curly hair type at all.

Not sure how I feel about this consult. I had forgotten to attach the questionnaire questions when I attached photos to the email. The clinic had asked me to follow up with the answers to the questionnaire early this morning around 2 am while I was sleeping, but when I awoke at 8 they had send over this email, and photograph of graft placement. Would my answers even make a different in the number of grafts or approach. I feel as though they are jumping the gun.

Your pictures have been evaluated by our doctors.
You have Norwood Grade IV of Baldness.
Marked area will required:  4500
Proposed Harvest from Scalp: 3500
Proposed Harvest from Beard: 1000

The remaining area will improve with medications (namely Tab Finasteride 1 mg, to be prescribed by consulting dermatologist/physician) which will also help in preservation of your pre-existing hair. The progress in the mid scalp and crown can also be improved with these medications. The medication will help in increasing the density in those areas.

For Androgenetic Alopecia, it progresses with the following acceleration in different age groups:
20s to 30s: very aggressively
30s to 40s: slows down
40s onward: starts stabilizing usually

Since Androgenetic Alopecia / baldness is not a disease and is a natural phenomenon and affects almost half of the men population, it can only be maintained by taking Finasteride until it stabilizes. The dosage can be revised periodically.

You are required to kindly acknowledge receipt of your evaluation via return mail informing us that you have read & understood the same.
Warmest Regards,

It depends on your goals and expectations.

Your hair type is generally considered advantageous for coverage, so it is not uncommon to see patients with these or similar characteristics usually getting away with lesser graft numbers than perhaps you have seen others require for a similar sized area.

I would recommended consulting with some other clinics as well, for comparison. Second and third opinions are always worthwhile, even more so if you feel a little bit of doubt from your initial consultation.

You have curly hair it seems which tends to offer better visual coverage even though technically it isn't packed as dense.

You will however only know how effective it is for you after approximately 12 months but they do have a great track record with donor management.

Please do send in your questionnaire to your counsellor and also put forward all of your doubts. That being said, we would encourage you to consult other doctors also. You can understand more about your requirements when you get the different opinions from different experts.

Wish you the best for your journey ahead.

im not sure really whethre hair loss slows down in your 30's

Doesnt it usually start at that age for most men?

From the 20s to 30s, the hair loss is very aggressive. From the 30s to 40s, the hair loss slows down comparatively. From the 40s onwards, it starts to really slow down and by the 50s it stabilizes. However, in some cases, the baldness continues aggressively.

Hair loss is genetically determined it seems and can be aggressive usually earlier in a person's life as mentioned above however it does slow down as we age.

That is in a normal life where we are not using medication though imo. If we start using Finasteride etc. then we are putting a road block/dam in the way of the hair loss and it will slow things down and imo, once we removed that road block, a person generically disposed to say a Norwood 5 taking medication to maintain say a Norwood 2 and then stopping in their 50s, i still think they would then progress their hair loss again and end up a Norwood 5.

Happy for this to be disproved but it makes sense given Finasteride is touted as an indefinite treatment to be used as long as you want to keep your hair.

Hi thanks for reaching out.

Can you clarify, where do you place beard grafts? is it on the frontal scalp, or used on the balding crown.

thanks n advance
