Why does everyone want to blame sexual side effects on anti-androgenic drugs that literally block DHT receptors, or decrease DHT levels as mere placebo. Yes DHT plays a large role in hair loss, but it is is also responsible for erections, orgasm, cognition, strength etc. It is a double edge sword when it comes to dht, it literally does great things for a mans body with the exception of hair loss. But i do not think its fair to the hair loss community to count these side effects as placebo, and is a great disservice. I have side effects on fin, other men dont. I have side effects on Pantosin, other men dont.We are individual on how our own bodys respond to drops in dht levels. But dont discount any side effects we have from these drugs as "its all in our head" We are adults, not young children, that cannot explain their bodies. If you are a man with a healthy libido, erections, orgasm, and then you take a drug known to affect hormone levels and cause effects, and you begin to experience those effects, its not your mind its drug plain and simple. by spreading this whole "its all in your head" "nocebo" rhetoric, you just mislead the hair loss community, give ppl false hope, and diminish what those with side effects are experiencing.

sure. basically even if you use fin topically, it will go systemic and drop the dht, maybe not as low as oral fin does in one pill dose, but overtime with subsequent applications of topical fin, it will lower your dht down to a level where you experience sides.

I disagree. it does go systemic. used it myself and it was the only antiandrogen drug i was on, having not used them (fin) in 8 years. It gave me the ED i described, which wen away after use. how it doesn't require a prescription like fin/dut, that I dont know, buts its also a european product. you only get it on ebay or from sites that ship from foreign country. maybe theres a loophole in the EU. i think just like every anti-androgen, each individual will react differently to drops in dht

More than likely, you will end up with sides from the topical fin over time. The question is when. Once your DHT drops to a level where it causes sides for a particular individual you will start to see sides.

thats just a brand name of Alfatradiol It will also gives sexual side effects as well. if you are sensitive to anti-androgens, its probably not the best choice.

bc hes found the right balance for him where he is getting results and no side effect, but i believe ramping up to 5-6 applications a day took him several weeks. that regimen is not a one size fits all approach.

honestly sometimes i dont know why i waste my time on here. one half is users asking to find the correct dose/frequency to take fin to avoid side effects(which i dont think exists once you are prone to sides from the drug) and the other half is users asking for suggestions of topical version of anti androgens because they heard/read on a froum that they do not not go systemic as a topical(which it does) also the fact the forum is sponsored by xyon dut, so theres a heavy push for the product. but if you are looking for discussions on new drugs, or treatments, this forum is not the one for you.

yes as someone who takes oral minox, i am aware of the side effects it can have. But unlike Finasteride, the grand majority of people do not have side effects from it, and as you pointed out, there is always the topical option which was the industry standard until oral minox became the new wave sensation in the last 3 years. oral or topical it all goes systemic. orals probably will reduce DHT more than a topical, but with some of these topicals, you may even end up with a higher dose of the drug because you are trying to cover such a large area of the scalp. its all about how the body will react to drops in dht, and you dont need a large drop to feel the side effects. this whole topicals decrease systemic absorption or have no systemic absorption is exactly that these online pharmacies and hair loss companies want use to believe to make the sales. you are just helping to spread this false rhetoric.

i think the only ppl who will benefit from topical anti-androgens are those who had no side effects with the oral versions. I have rarely heard of anyone going from taking an oral med where it gave them sides, and then switched to that same topical and they were side effect free. The only forum member @Gatsby who had success with the switch and who i truly believe his experience(as hes not pushing an agenda or sponsored by a hair loss company) eventually had sides in the long run. I have not heard from anyone else, and when i see that they are either paid or sponsored by a seller i take that info with a grain of salt. You can keep playing around with dosages and different applications, but more than likely they will experience the same sides, just a delay in the sides. I am just setting peoples expectations because there is this false belief that these topicals are not going systemic hence the great push of topicals anti-androgens in the market.

if hes getting sides with the oral version he most likely will get sides on topical, so its kind of redundant. i think we need to get rid of this thinking that keeps getting passed around that topicals are the next option, and have less systemic absorption/side effects than the pils. both will drop DHT, which will be at different levels in different individuals, but they are not fool proof. even smal drops in dht and illicit the side effects. topicals are really just another options for those who dont have sides/tolerate fin and dut.

a member asked if dut cannot penetrate the skin, and I gave them the correct answer, that it does indeed penetrate the skin. still believing that dut is too heavy to penetrate the epidermis, and cannot enter the blood vessels in the dermis is the REAL ignorance. There have been plenty of anecdotal reports from members on this forum of this that topical dut goes systemic, and even members who have measured their DHT levels dropping being on using topical dut. The dalton theory was just that a theory. so let us stop spreading false information that topical dut does not go systemic, bc it does. how our individual bodies react to that drop in dht ultimately determines whether we can tolerate it or choose to discontinue its use.

just sharing my experience. i too had side effects from fin. I tried alfradiol, the pantosin brand. after about 3 days of application it gave me ED. no ball ache, just difficulty getting erection, just felt dead down there. it took about a week for it to flush out my system. i would not recommend it as a fin alternative for those sensitive to fin. i am unsure of the mechanism, but you can google it.
