Regular Member Jayp805 Posted December 30, 2021 Regular Member Share Posted December 30, 2021 Well after years of thinking about it, it’s finally done! I just finished my fue transplant with Dr Luis Nader in Reynosa Mexico and I’m sitting back in the hotel in McAllen Texas. Here’s a recap of my experience. First, getting in touch with Dr Nader which I’ve heard can be difficult. I filled out the online request form with all my info and pictures at the Nader medical website. Brenda the office coordinator got back to me in a few days with different package options and the Drs recommendations of approximately 2500 grafts for the frontal 3rd and 1000 more for the crown. I was able to secure a date after a few messages back and forth and now 8 weeks later it’s all done. I decided to stay at the Wyndham Garden that Brenda recommended - it’s no frills but worked fine for me (there’s a mini fridge and microwave so I can hide out in here if I want) and they reimburse you for $120 per night depending which package you select. I was picked up at 7:45am by Dr Naders driver and 20 minutes later we were at the office. Super clean, nice place inside , and as others have said he only sees one patient a day so it’s just you, the doctor and his 6 techs. Dr Nader and I chatted about my life and hair and transplant goals etc. He drew me 2 hairline options. One very conservative and one a little more aggressive (like my wife wanted lol) we discussed and ended up splitting the difference and agreed that it would look good and very natural. After counting the cm squares he told me the grafts I would need would be less than he thought and we agreed to do 2500 grafts. They offered to let me keep my hair on top but the dr said the crown would be difficult to see unless we cut it down some, so they cut the sides and back down to a zero and a 5 clipper on top. I was laughing because Dr Nader is so involved he literally gave me a fade himself, with one tech assistant haha. Next was extraction. For me this was the worst part simply because I hated lying face down and to the side for so long and not being able to fidget but they were very accommodating whenever I wanted to shuffle around or stand and stretch. Dr Nader was extracting and a team was checking graft counts separating by hair quantity. I guess they got a lot of singles in the 2500 he pulled so Dr Nader decided to pull some more so they could get the density he wanted (that’s how we got 2640 - still payed for the 2500 as agreed at Naders insistence) After this phase ended I got to have the famous tacos for lunch and relax in the implantation chair. This phase took the longest but I was more comfortable. I watched Netflix and even fell asleep for a while. Dr Nader and one assistant were doing incisions and planting grafts. Then at the end 2 assistants closely checked the placement and angles of the grafts, cleaned my head and put a fresh bandage on my donor. Dr Nader gave me my follow up instructions and medication (an anti inflammatory, an antibiotic, and a pain medication- not narcotic, just a NSAID) I paid half cash to get the 10% discount, Brenda gave me back my hat that she had disinfected so I can wear on the flight home and I was in the car headed back to McAllen. It took about 40 minutes and we were through the border really quickly and easily. Anyways here I am at the hotel, so glad I went with Dr Nader just based on the professionalism, bedside manner and his track record of good results and great prices.

Senior Member HappyMan2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted December 30, 2021 @Jayp805 curious why you opted for a no-shave procedure? thanks.
Regular Member Jayp805 Posted December 30, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted December 30, 2021 @SadMan2021 When Dr Nader asked me when I was due to return to work and I said Tuesday Jan 4th he brought up the option to leave a little hair up top to help conceal the recipient area, even though I can wear a hat to work and he said that was fine too… I was not expecting to do a no-shave but he said it would be easy enough so I figured why not! I’ll probably trim it all down at some point as it heals and it starts to look weird with different lengths of hair.

That’s good that he leaves the option to leave it long on top when I emailed him his assistant Brenda responded in like 3 days I want to be on fin for at least a year before I do it but I’m most likely going to him did he state what the density per cm was? Regular Member Jayp805 Posted December 31, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted December 31, 2021 @Dillpickle123 yeah I think I’ll draw less attention to my head with keeping at least a little hair on top. But he may have to cut it short depending on where you want to get grafts and how much native hair is in the surrounding area. Basically he said as long as I can see the skin I can place the grafts. I didn’t ask for or get a specific layout of how many grafts per cm and 1’s 2’s 3’s etc - maybe I’ll follow up with Nader and see if I can get one. Thanks I’m a Norwood 2 need temple and forelock work he quoted me 1500 grafts I think I may need more but when I eventually go we’ll see does he do an analysis of the scalp before? Regular Member Jayp805 Posted December 31, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted December 31, 2021 @Dillpickle123yeah I’m not sure how other places do it but he looked everything over in his office and counted around the donor site and recipient areas to see what type of density we could get to. This was all done by eye and then he did some math and came up with the 2500 graft count. if you’re between 1500 and 2500 it won’t be big deal because he can do that all in one day either way and you’ll be the only patient scheduled so he’ll have the time to do it right either way you guys decide to go. For me he blocked off 2 days and ended up telling me we only needed one day after all, so I trust he will advise you honestly and not try to rush you out or upsell you or anything. Regular Member Jayp805 Posted January 4, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted January 4, 2022 So today is day 6 post op and I was scheduled to return to work today but I was able to get this week off. I could have made it through the work day with a hat on but I’m glad to have the extra time to get more healing done before I have to go back to work. Swelling is gone completely, donor looks good, still scabs on the recipient area and head still itches but all in all I’m feeling great.

Senior Member pkipling Posted January 4, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted January 4, 2022 This looks really great and you seem to be on track for an incredible result. Lots to look forward to here. And I'm glad you got the extra time off from work. I was able to wear a hat to work after my procedure as well, but the extra time off to not even have to worry about it is definitely more ideal. 1 1 I am a patient advocate for Dr. Parsa Mohebi in Los Angeles, CA. Senior Member Etownone Posted January 5, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted January 5, 2022 Looking good. Dr Nader is great. The whole process is smooth, considering it's in Mexico. I went to him 3 times for FUE. Zero complaints.

Pidds, you've repeatedly said, in threads for other individuals' HT's, that you had two HT's with Dr. Nadar, but I can't find any posts you've made about your procedures. Have you posted results? It would be helpful for those of us considering HT's to assess your experience and results.

Senior Member GoliGoliGoli Posted November 23, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted November 23, 2022 (edited) It's a good question. Two ways of thinking about it: 1. The result wasn't great and now the guy is embarrassed and doesn't want to post about it anymore and maybe working directly with the clinic to get a top-up or get repaired. 2. The result is great and the guy forgot about this forum entirely and is out enjoying his life and his new hair. It always seemed to me 2 is more likely than 1. I know if I had 1 happen to me, I'd probably be posting here trying to get other people's opinions on what went wrong and what to do about it now. But everyone's different so who knows. I think for the OP 2 is more likely considering he only ever posted 13 times here, most in this thread. He isn't like me or some of the other regulars who are now hooked obsessively into the world of HT's. He's just a weekend warrior who got his HT and probably forgot about this forum.
