Questions To Ask During Your Consultation

I was pm'd by @naakmuka he gave me an excellent idea to start a thread about what questions to ask during your consultation.

I have to say, do not ever, ever, ever consult with only one surgeon. Even if you have your heart set on one physician, it's always a good idea to consult with others. In case you guys don't know, you can multi-send consultations to several doctors at once, pretty convenient. You can submit multiple consultations here. Let's all put our heads together and think of some good questions to ask.

Here are some good ones:

What is your involvement during surgery?

How long has your team been working with you, technicians, nurses, etc? And what are their qualifications

Can I meet a past patient?

What would you do if i'm not happy with the hair transplant? What are my options?

Where can I find legitimate reviews on your practice? (especially good for non-recommended physicians)

In the event I cancel my surgery for life events, etc, is my deposit refundable?

If I don't get the number of grafts I pay for, will you refund me the difference at the same cost per graft?

Very good questions to ask that Melvin listed.

In response to question number 3:  possibly meet with several patients who have similar loss pattern and similar hair characteristics.

Question number 4:  also ask for the proposed remedies "in writing" and clarify that it is beneficial for both parties to be "on the same page" in the event that problems arise post-op.

Question number 6:  Most clinics will not refund a room deposit but almost always will honor the deposit if an alternative procedure date is scheduled.

I like question number 7 because it induces the clinic to document the graft count and it is also a good idea to know the number of singles, doubles, triple hair grafts, etc., that are implanted and then arrive at a grand total.

I would also ask for your donor to be examined thoroughly and for you to be given the breakdown.

I was happy enough to hear simply that my donor area was "beautiful" but now 9 years later it would be great to know how my density was and what my lifetime projection of grafts in the bank was.

That way you will know if there's been any change to your donor area if you ever go for a second HT at a later date.

2,000 grafts FUT Dr. Feller, July 27th 2012. 23 years old at the time. Excellent result. Need crown sorted eventually but concealer works well for now.

Propecia and minoxidil since 2010. Fine for 8 years - bad sides after switching to Aindeem in 2018.

Switched to topical fin/minox combo from Minoxidil Max in October 2020, along with dermarolling 1x a week.

I could not agree more because changes can and usually will occur in the donor region (occipital zone) as we age...the so-called safe zone can decrease with aging.

Or could it really be more about the matter of making intelligent decisions.

To see surgical consent forms you are expected to sign during surgery.  This is prior to paying your deposit.

also,

what are the options you will give me if their is failure or limited growth for the grafts given?

Most of the hair mills make you believe this by issuing that kind of "guarantee certificate" which is nothing more than waste paper and then it must be said that it is not at all easy to sue a clinic, especially if this  it is located in countries such as Turkey.

All of them use disclaimers of liability in their contracts.
