Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted January 21, 2021 Administrators Share Posted January 21, 2021 I have gotten this question a lot lately, what do you guys think? I've seen some guys here get almost no scarring. @Craig2412 is one that comes to mind, but others get some noticeable scars. I would love to hear the communities thoughts. Senior Member ciaus Posted January 21, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted January 21, 2021 (edited) I think there's always scar tissue forming, more or less depending on doctor skill and patient physiology, and some guys have more luck when it comes to the contrast in skin tone color between the scar tissue and the surrounding skin. I remember this guy posting a pic of his donor and being pretty stunned by how undetectable they were. I wondered in my comment if he were to spend some time in the sun if the scars would become more visible after his skin tanned. Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted January 21, 2021 Valued Contributor Share Posted January 21, 2021 There will always be scarring once you punctate the skin. The darker the skin generally the more noticeable it is. However an excellent surgeon will use an appropriate sized punch and extract in such a pattern as to make the the donor area less noticeable. Scars do continue to improve over time. I have scars that are 36 years old and they have faded incredibly compared to when they were a year old. 2 GATSBY 'UNPLUGGED!' 15,671 (3 surgeries) Grafts FUE+BHT Dr. Sethi Eugenix
Senior Member Britanium Posted January 21, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted January 21, 2021 (edited) My FUE scarring is pretty noticeable. Thankfully i already have my hair long enough to cover the even worse FUT scar I have 😂 Edited January 21, 2021 by JohnAC71
Senior Member aaron1234 Posted January 21, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted January 21, 2021 Recently had a 1,100 graft FUE and I can't locate one punch scar 7 months post-op. I know they're there but I can't find them. More noticeable is the decreased density from the donor area. He literally shaved and it’s so hard to see. I do wonder if it’s because he’s really pale. Skin tones and hair colors also come to play. Light hair and skin is probably the best, and really dark hair and dark skin. I’m a paid admin for Hair Transplant Network. I do not receive any compensation from any clinic. This is good to hear, and would be great if we could see what they look like today! Any pics?
Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted January 23, 2021 Valued Contributor Share Posted January 23, 2021 I have a couple of photos I will try and dig up. I really regret that I didn't take more as I was very young and self conscious of my plugs and the scars after surgery. This was around the ago of 18 when I had the plugs and 19 when I began having a series of surgeries to remove them. I contacted the plastic surgeon's office several years ago as he took photos but he has since retired and probably passed away by now. 1 GATSBY 'UNPLUGGED!' 15,671 (3 surgeries) Grafts FUE+BHT Dr. Sethi Eugenix
