Dr Demirsoy FUE - 2500 grafts

Hi,

I want to share my results after undergoing FUE surgery with Dr Erkan Demirsoy, at Armamed clinic in Istanbul.

There are already many posts with the reasons why to choose Demirsoy, experiences at the clinic, advices, etc... where I don't have anything new to add. Therefore I will just share the results so far and some observations I have for my case specifically.

Before Dr. Demisroy I had had another FUE surgery with approx 3000 grafts some 10 years ago. Dr Demisroy recommended me4000 - 4500 grafts for my HT, but recommendation was to do it in two sessions. The reason was that my donor area was already sparse. I could see that too, that in the donor area I could notice the density of hair was lower (probably because of the previous surgery). To me it also made sense with the two-step approach, as in this case you could see the progress after the first step and then make a more educated decision for the second one.

Actually now I'm a bit worried with my donor area which looks sparse and I don't want to make it look even worse. So I've still not decided whether to go with the second step. Will see a bit later how it will look after some more months.

Here are the photos taken before the operation taken in the clinic, and up until now.

As one can see, now after two months it looks that most or all of the new hair had fallen off. Compared to the pics from two weeks after surgery, the hair has shedded a lot. I'm hoping the new hair should start growing soon. You can also see the donor area looks weaker than before and you can see recognize the extraction area. Probably no surprise having in mind that approx 5500 grafts in total were already extracted from there.

Will post later with the new pics.

Just curious. Did you take medicine such as finasteride and minoxidil?

Did you have those 3000 grafs on the mid scalp or hairline? What happend to them?

I started taking Biotin and applying minoxidil after this surgery, as advised by the doctor. I've never taken finasteride.

The previous 3000 grafts I had on my hairline and a little bit towards mid scalp. They are still there (or mostly there), my hairline had quite a different shape before that.

It's normal for majority of the newly transplanted hairs to shed. But good news is you already at two months so hopefully in a month or so you should start seeing some growth. Do you have any pics of what your hair looked like prior to trimming bit down? Did you always keep your hair short? You would get a lot more coverage keeping it longer due to a layering effect.

I've kept my hair just a bit longer compared to just before trimming. One photo attached here. I think there is some layering effect with longer hair.
