A lot of attention is given to the hairline, and rightly so. However, who does the best crown work in Europe? The crown is hard to do because of its area and the fact it can be the upper side and the back side of the scalp meaning the hairs may have to provide cover from two different, main angles. Any strong thoughts or will it just be the same doctors/clinics you would consider for the hairline?

Lorenzo or Couto (may as well not bring up with that waiting list though) without a doubt. Lorenzo has a substantial portfolio of them to look at too. There's definitely a difference in preference for crown/vs hairline work despite a general overlap.

Thanks for the reply. I thought you may be somebody who knows actually. Any FUT clinics you would recommend? I remember seeing Dr. Devroye posting something not long ago about a crown he did which looked amazing but searching for crown procedures on here does not yield too many results.

Not many people recommend Farjo on here because the are not a 'flashy hairline clinic'.  However, I have seen some impressive crowns from them.

Devroye, Bisanga, Edward Ball are all highly capable too.

This is a much needed thread, just as the crown is the most neglected/ignored part of the transplant discourse, specially by the surgeons (even some of the big names).

In my interaction with many of the surgeons, i find that most of them are pretty enthu about the hairline. But the moment i bring up the crown issue, they prefer to defer it to another day/year/procedure. One gets the sense that they would be just too happy to do the hairline and not get into the crown bit. Most of their before-after results also are all about the  hairline. Clearly most of these surgeons are lacking in crown skills and are afraid to do a shoddy crown job that could tarnish their reputation.

Personally, as a transplant candidate i think it is absurd to get a terrific hairline and carry a naked crown.

Hope this thread can throw up some 'crown specialist' names.

Agree from what I've seen on Devroye but at least on this forum there aren't a huge number of results, been consistently impressed by Hattingen clinic also, especially the giant FUT megassessions over the 5000 graft mark I see from them quite regularly that give full coverage in one hit. Their scars appear as good as any on top of that.

Still find the most appealing crown results tend to be from Lorenzo, most others tend to leave it still looking somewhat thin and for higher graft numbers. Dr. Wong is another in that top-level category but obviously not in Europe.

I have a Skype consultation with Hattingen tomorrow. I haven't seen any of their work though, I am just taking the word of 1 or 2 other members here that it is good. I may go out for an in person consultation if I like what he says tomorrow. Where have you seen their results? Especially the mega-sessions.

The Spanish doctors are very good but I am not going to wait three years for an operation.

The International forum for the Hattingen cases, also last I heard Lorenzo was only 6 monthsish, but some have said he was going on extended break at some point.

Hattingen has a lot of patient cases in here:

https://www.alopezie.de/foren/transplant/

BUT you need to register to see these reports. In germany (and switzerland) it is forbidden to publish pre- and after pictures publicly.

There are videos on youtube as well, but majority are clinic posted videos which I do not value as much as patient posted reports.

If you are a diffuse thinner, you might consider clinics which use implanter pens (unfortuantely that are mainly the spanish ones you have mentioned before).

Good luck.
