Hi All,

I'm a 30 year old man with hair that's been thinning and balding for about 11 years. Been on finasteride for 4 months or so and noticing a bit of a difference. Now though, I'd like to make a bit more of a noticable difference, so have been looking at transplants. I've been in to a couple of shops (I live in london) and have had the sales pitch.

I wanted to post on here and source some advice and direction.

So far I've been quoted at around 2-3000 grafts just for the front. Quoting in and around the region of ?8000 which is a reach for me.

Three things I could use help with in particular.

1) Is it worth looking abroad, both in terms of price and in terms of skill of the surgeon.

2) My hair is blonde, which you see far fewer examples of, is this a potential issue or something we would have to approach differently.

I've attached front and back of my situation. As you can see, I'm far gone.. but not too far gone. Any words are useful!

Asmed has had great results. You should contact them via there website. Send in the pictures you took along of the picture of your donor area to Asmeds website and they will give you a quote. It's 2.5euro per graft. Generally they do 3500 in the crown and then 2500 on the vertex if you're hair loss is far along. You may need two separate procedures. I believe Dr. Koray provides one of the best HTs available in the world in my opinion. He does quote high graph counts but his results speak for themselves. I am scheduled to go in for my HT in 7 days with Asmed. I live in Chicago and am taking an 11hr flight to Istanbul. To do the same procedure in The United States would cost me over $30,000. I am having roughly 4,000 graphs done. He has an anesthesiologist that works for him that has blonde hair and is similar in hair loss to you. His results are on the website.

jtown, I agree with couple of others here with regards to actual number of grafts. Though you have only two pictures in my opinion about somewhere around 4500-6000 grafts total should give you good result. It would however be good to have some more angles including a look at donor hairs and side face/head profile.

Since you have limited funds....With regards to rates you will probably find very good surgeons for lesser price in India. Turkey is definitely an option. (2.5euro a graft!), India is definitely an option with more cost savings compared to most other places - in my opinion. Approximately around 1 euro to1.2 euros.

There are several recommended HT surgeons on HTN whom you may send your pictures and have a free e-mail and/or skype consultation. Some of the currently network recommended surgeons in India are Dr. Bhatti(David a forum moderator had his HTwith him), Dr. Radha, Dr. Madhu, etc...

I was a high Norwood (6/7) and had my HT in New Delhi at Eugenix under Dr. Pradeep Sethi and Dr. Arika Bansal and quite happy with my results. I chose them based on my personal research and review of cases and aesthetics of hairlines plus review and comparison of other surgeons.

The best advice I could give you is to NOT to rush your procedure and give some time for research and thorough review of procedures, surgeons, results and also option of flying out of London for overseas procedure. travel and stay wise most clinics will arrange this for you including pick up and drop off to and from airport and also to and from clinic. Some clinics also have in house accommodation for stay and recuperation

Of course there are plenty helpful people on this forum to guide you. Good luck to you.

Stay in Europe, but get a couple of opinions with BHT specialists. Some diligence will be vital, and some research with proper donor analyses is crucial to success.

My opinions are my own. I am one representative of MyWHTC Clinic's European branch.

Hi Jtown,

If you wish to consider other recommended doctors, then there's always Dr Tejinder Bhatti in India. I have sent over numerous patients from the UK who would be more than willing for you to contact them should you wish to hear of their experiences and view their results.

Take a look at this past patient, he seems to have similar hair to you.

Also take a look at my own story in my link below.

I suppose it's another option for you to consider, just drop me a PM or call me.

I'm not an authority on the EU doctors at your disposal, but if you're willing to travel to the United States or Canada, there are a handful of excellent doctors used to international patients that should be on your list to check out.

Hair loss patient and transplant veteran. Once a Norwood 3A.

Received 2,700 grafts with coalition doctor on 8/13/2010

Received 2,380 grafts with Dr. Steven Gabel on 9/30/2011

Received 1,820 grafts with Dr. Steven Gabel on 7/28/2016

If this were my head, I'd look into FUT with one of the top docs. Why? Because that's quite a bit of hair loss for 30yo and you'll need to maximize your lifetime donor supply while at the same time safeguarding against any transection that could occur in the hands of the wrong FUE techs.

3185 FUT with Dr. Rahal on 2/17/16

1204 FUT with Dr. Rahal on 3/27/17

---> total of 4389 grafts to my frontal third via FUT

---> 1mg finasteride daily since 1999:)

Hi there, I had a great experience and results with Dr. Koray (Asmed). I couldn't be happier. All the best for you.

An amazing experience (4002 grafts) with Dr. Koray Erdogan (ASMED Clinic).
