Regular Member Goblin82 Posted January 23, 2017 Regular Member Share Posted January 23, 2017 Hi, Can anyone recommend what strength and brand of biotin I should take post HT? Also is it worth taking other vitamins like MSM or Folic Acid as well? Thank you
Senior Member hsrp10 Posted January 23, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted January 23, 2017 I've been using 5,000mcg (Now Foods brand) for a long time now. Some take less while others take even higher doses. MSM can help speed up hair growth after you've shaved your head or the recipient area after a HT so it may help for the short term until your hair grows in. go dense or go home Unbiased advice and opinions based on 25 plus years of researching and actual experience with hair loss, hair restoration via both FUT & FUE, SMP, scalp issues including scalp eczema & seborrheic dermatitis and many others HSRP10's favorite FUT surgeons: *Dr. Konior, *Dr Hasson, Dr. Rahal HSRP10's favorite FUE surgeons: *Dr. Konior, *Dr. Bisanga, Dr. Erdogan, Dr. Couto (*indicates actual experience with doctor)

Senior Member Spanker Posted January 23, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted January 23, 2017 Any studies on biotin in a normal pt? My question is, shouldn't you get all the biotin that your body will process from diet? Senior Member hsrp10 Posted January 24, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted January 24, 2017 Any studies on biotin in a normal pt? My question is, shouldn't you get all the biotin that your body will process from diet? Biotin deficiency can cause hair loss according to studies, but there doesn't seem to be many if any studies conversely on what dosage is actually best for maintaining healthy hair in healthy individuals. There appear to be some clinics which recommend high dose biotin 15,000-20,000mcg as a "hair loss treatment" but I don't think this is safe and likely no merit in such higher dosages. Also getting it from dietary sources would be the best way where possible. go dense or go home Unbiased advice and opinions based on 25 plus years of researching and actual experience with hair loss, hair restoration via both FUT & FUE, SMP, scalp issues including scalp eczema & seborrheic dermatitis and many others HSRP10's favorite FUT surgeons: *Dr. Konior, *Dr Hasson, Dr. Rahal HSRP10's favorite FUE surgeons: *Dr. Konior, *Dr. Bisanga, Dr. Erdogan, Dr. Couto (*indicates actual experience with doctor)

Senior Member hsrp10 Posted January 24, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted January 24, 2017 Seems some say acne with very high doses, but none from my side. It's just like taking any other B vitamin - biotin is B7, and you shouldn't experience any unless you have an extreme or rare allergy. go dense or go home Unbiased advice and opinions based on 25 plus years of researching and actual experience with hair loss, hair restoration via both FUT & FUE, SMP, scalp issues including scalp eczema & seborrheic dermatitis and many others HSRP10's favorite FUT surgeons: *Dr. Konior, *Dr Hasson, Dr. Rahal HSRP10's favorite FUE surgeons: *Dr. Konior, *Dr. Bisanga, Dr. Erdogan, Dr. Couto (*indicates actual experience with doctor)
Senior Member milo12 Posted January 24, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted January 24, 2017 Been down that road. Biotin will not help much. On average a human gets enough biotin from his diet provided it includes consists of 3 square meals a day.
