Are there doctors still saying laser combs don't work?

I have not read this forum for 2 years. Back then there was a vocal group of doctors saying that there is no chance laser combs work, and that the light could not even penetrate the skin. There were also some doctors who had the opposite view and said there was some evidence they work.

I noticed now Dr. Shapiro saying that recent evidence says they work. Is there still a vocal doctor group against laser combs?

"Low-Level Laser therapy (LLLT) is another adjunct therapy used to treat hair loss. For many years its benefit in hair transplantation was controversial with only limited studies. Recently however, more studies have shown statistically significant benefit in increasing overall terminal hair densities in men and women with a laser comb device compared with placebo." I think Dr. Lindsey's stance is that laser combs are pretty much this...

I believe the Question was:

Are there doctors still saying laser combs don't work?
And Dr. Lindseys' answer was:

I say it every day.

Conclusion: Dr. Lindsey says "laser combs don't work"

I'm serious.  Just look at my face.

They will never work for growing/regrowing hair but for some scalp conditions like psoriasis etc. there seems to be evidence that certain forms of laser treatment may help some patients.

go dense or go home

Blake Bloxham says there are a lot of remedies for which there is no evidence (or trivial evidence) that they work, and yet some big shot doctors say they do work. How does Blake Boxham reconcile this?

I used a laser comb for three years and I'm not going to imply that it helped with hair loss but it did seem to make the hair I had a lot thicker. So maybe there is something to say for it from a cosmetic perspective.

You don't understand. Studies show people are horrible self judges for these kinds of things, and people mistakenly believe they are excellent self judges.

That is why you need objective evidence, for instance a study.

They seem pretty expensive and time demanding just to make your hair a little thicker.

Do they claim to increase hair count and do their studies back that up or are people just saying "yes, I look better" or "no, I noticed no change"?

I think that combination of things besides FUE and Propecia may or may not contribute to 1-5% range of effectiveness. Just doesn't seem like a good ROI for all the additional time and money you'll commit.

I stick with the 2 I named and well.. Best Investment Ever. ;)
