I post today as a patient like I first did 8 years ago when I was a butchered, scared repair patient looking to show the world what I had just gone through. On March 18th, 2002 Dr. Wong saved my life.

In early 2002 the forums were a very different place. There were really no stand out clinics and the Coalition was not even in existence. Megasessions at the time were rarely more than 2000 to 2500 grafts. There were only a few patients that had actually shown there before/after pics but no one was showing the actual journey of what it is like to go through the development after surgery and certainly no one was showing the surgery itself, donor scar healing, and other issues that you are all so used to seeing now.

My first surgery with Dr. Wong was performed with the singular goal of making me look normal. For nine years I had lived with two stacked donor scars and progressively more visible mini grafts for my hairline as I continued with hair loss to the point of being a NW6 plus. No one had ever told me about Propecia. In this surgery I had 2406 grafts.

A year later I had 2425 grafts to rebuild my temple points, give me light coverage for part of my crown and to slightly lower my hairline and build up the density in the frontal third.

Another year later and I was working for the clinic and had my last surgery for 2488 grafts. This was to basically thicken up some of the areas previously worked on. I have had some smaller sessions as a guinea pig that added a few hundred grafts.

Today, eight years later almost to the day, I am happy to report that my transplant still puts a smile on my face every morning as I get ready for work and I don't have to worry about having obvious work or being a NW6 when I go out.

Life is good.

**Update**

My girlfriend and I were up on top of the Space Needle over the Easter weekend and she took these pics of me. The wind was extremely strong gusting up to 50 mph. in some cases and is way too strong for hair spray to hold hair in place as evidenced by some of the photos.

**Update April 14, 2010**

Some people have asked for shots of the top. I had some time yesterday in the office so Doug took these shots for me showing various angles of the top of my scalp as well as the crown.

A truly great story and great transformation. Your story was one of the first I found as I also was going through a difficult time thanks to the hands of Bosley's "doctors". Your story inspired me and reassured me that there was hope and that there are great doctor's out there who do top quality work and genuinely care.

Congratulations Jotronic and thank you for your continued service to this community.

Joe, your hair looks awesome! You look like a totally different person than before. I agree with Raphael84, I'm grateful for all the helpful info you post on this forum. By the way, I just ordered the Polytar shampoo that you were telling me about...hopefully it works well for me too.

Joe, looking great! It's hard to even believe that a megasession at the time was about 2500 grafts per session when now we have sessions that easily start at 3500+ grafts.

I can honestly say that because of individuals such as yourself who had the courage to post your experiences which in turn led others (such as Bobman) to do the same that I am sitting here relieved of my own past hair loss agony. Congrats and thank you for all the contributions you have provided to us.

One of the all-time great results.

Jotronic, did your original plug job every look remotely passable? Presumably there was more hair surrounding the grafts when they were placed as you say that they became progressively more visible. Do you have any photos from back then?

Joe,

Congratulations on your amazing journey from recovery to advocacy (forgive the support groupish tone of that :-)

You're truly one of the early pioneers in hair transplant patient advocacy. You've saved a lot of scalps, including your own. I hope you're enjoying that rockabilly thick hairline.

Onwards and Upwards, Pat

You result is one of the best I've ever seen, Joe. Your hairline and temples look great, you have excellent coverage and density, and it looks absolutely natural. How does/do your scar(s) look?

Thanks for your comments, guys.

That's eerie.. your hair looks exactly like mine on the first and second pic. Same color, recession, length and hairline density.

Yikes!
