Donor is very thin.. I think Dr Lorenzo still worked his magic and provided a very good result considering the patient's situation though.

This is a very confusing thread. Clinic asks if he's suitable for a HT, and the pictures indicate nothing was done, but Mickey feels magic was worked here....Are pictures missing?

There are no post operative pictures. This thred is like the recent lorenzo thread titled 'difficult case' where lorenzo provides a step by step update every few days. My comment was my hypothesis on what did happen ie despite the patient not having good characteristics, lorenzo still performed his magic on him. Its just my guess as to what happened. I could be wrong and it could turn out lorenzo turned him down. I dont think lorenzo is asking us whether or not to operate.

Thank you Mickey 85. Thats the idea. Patients with thin hair are obviously not FUT candidates, because of the inability to hide the scar. And also bad for FUE due to the possibility to see the white dots. For this reason it is a special case. Also his thin hair is not going to give him a good coverage, so the surgeon must take extremely care of the naturalness.

Donor looks much better than I expected it would after 2,000 grafts. In the 5 month shots there is hardly any sign of surgery in the donor even with the hair cut very short. Very impressive.

Ok, makes sense now. I think a frontal view would better serve to show how this patent benefitted from the HT (face framing). I bet he would look even better if he shaved down and added some SMP

Wow, as neat, interesting, exciting and teaching an HT thread can get. Feel a bit like in school here, but in a good way (Also like the presentations of Dr. Lindsey btw, very insightful also)

I have been told by a top doctor that I have medium-fine hair. How many microns would that be, approximately?

 

Fine is less than 50 microns (vellus hair/fuzz/very thin is less than 40), 50-60 normal, >60 thick (but that's measurements are with a micrometer (which deform the hair when you measured it - the difference with computerized measurement are approx. 10 microns-)

Individual healing has partly to do with the tools but also very much on the particular condition. The good response from the donor area encourages the team to continue fulfilling the wish of the patient, perfectly aware of what HT can offer.

Donor looks amazing considering how thin his hair was before any procedure and how many grafts have been taken. I think only the best FUE surgeons can pull off this kind of undetectable look as I have seen guys with thicker caliber hair and denser donors come out with a much more noticeable difference after a decent FUE session with some other doctors...

It's great to see that a patient with poor donor can still get a significant improvement. This is the mark of an excellent surgeon I feel, as most good hair transplant docs can do a good job in patients with good donor.

Sorry but I'm not a fan of this. It just looks unsightly.

 

That isn't a criticism of Dr Lorenzo who is a great surgeon. I just think this guy should stick with the buzz look. He just doesn't have enough donor for a cossetically acceptable appearance of hair.

 

EDIT - just seen that the last pics are pre-op so I will reserve my final judgement until after i see the results
