"Cant Decide" 5.5 Month Post op Pics Crown Procedure

I am having my wife take a bunch of good shots at multiple angles at 6 months but I thought I would post a couple quick pics at 5.5 months along with my pre op pic (Not the best quality of course, but its just to give an idea as a few people have been asking for pics). Keep in mind that of the 2600+ grafts, 2350 went into the crown and the rest into the hairline. The intent was not to eliminate the crown but rather to shrink it as well as sure up the side profiles. No grafts were placed in that relatively small bare patch in my post op pics. So far so good and coming from a solid NW 6, I guess I cant complain so far :)

I am looking forward to more density. If I can get about 30-40% more density, I will be very happy.

I think that you have a fantastic transformation from a NW6. Seriously. It really shows a different side of Dr. Rahal's work that is less commonly known (both you and agenteye). He is a lot more than just a hairline doctor.

how do you find being on both fin and dut in terms of hair growth?

my derm says there is a synergistic effect being on both

but not sure if i should

I have not had regrowth but I think adding the Dut has helped with stabilization. Hard to tell though.

That's really good progress, Can't Decide. Congratulations to you.

Thanks Joe and everyone else.

Joe - How much more density do you think I can expect?

Looks great at this early stage, interesting in that we had the exact same amount of grafts put into our crowns, i'll be thrilled if mine is like that in 6 months!

I believe you will continue to see the density get better and better over the next 12 months, they say crowns can take up to 18 months to fully mature!

I have seen some nice improvement in just the last few days. Has anyone ever experienced that even just a week (During the 4-7 month timeframe) can make a big difference in density?

I experienced the same thing after my first op during this period, it just comes in spurts, 4 of 5 days can make a big difference.I always felt sort of a tingly sensation on my head and i remember thinking to myself, yup, they are off again lol then BOOM, big difference in density. I noticed this particularly between months 6 and 7 :D

After my first op, month 6-7 was a huge density increase for me. Hoping for the same with this one.

We typically like to check up on ht surgery progress at 6 and 12 months, however, Matt at SMG always likes to see patients for their first check up at 7 mos rather than at 6 mos. He feels the one extra month between 6 & 7 makes a world of difference. Great to hear you're getting nice growth this early on.

Thanks all. Here is one more pic about 10 days shy of 6 months. The crown has shrunk about 80%. Now hoping for some more density to come in. The small bare spot had no grafts placed.

I have always heard that and can confirm its true. I'm at about 15 months and am still feeling new sprouts in the crown.

I am now a week out from 6 months and seeing some thickening. If I can get 40% more overall improvement, I will be ecstatic to say the least. For now, I am just very happy :)

It's hard for me to comment on growth mate as pictures are a real struggle for me to see but I do have a lot of experience with crown work to answer your question the crown does have quick growth spurts I noticed them during 9th to 12th months cosmetically and I have felt new hair shafts spiking through my scalp at 11 months post op in all my crown surgeries. I think with that amount of grafts you'll be really happy around 14 month mark when it's all matured.

Bonkerstonker! :D

Thanks Bonker. I am going to get some good pics up soon. Good to hear about all you guys who saw continued crown growth after 10 months. At what percent would you say you were at at the 6 month point in your crown op?

You know mate crown is just so strange to completely understand but for my first op in crown I remember not leaving the house without concealer until after 12 months and then i just seemed to feel more comfortable obviously a years worth of length will help so I don't think 6 months in crown is enough time to have a impact against a strong front like yours.

The other thing to remember is crowns are thin looking anyway even on a lot of people that don't suffer from mpb so it takes a while for your head to adjust to the fact it's not likely to be as thick as your front but it will be thick enough that people don't look at you and think you've got a bald spot. Front to back ratio balance is really important I was happy with my crown then beefed up my front which then made my crown look thin again so now I've put more in crown less in front to fix the balance.

Great points Bonker. Thanks for that.
