Senior Member 1978matt Posted August 28, 2013 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 28, 2013 Hi Matt, I really like your hairline design and think it's great that Dr Konior felt confident to go a little bit more aggressive. One question. Did Dr K discuss density of the grafts in the hairline and behind and how he planned to design your HT in this regard. I'm in the UK so it's great to have such a detailed write up from some one who has travelled across the pond, as most traffic seems to be in the direction of Belgium these days! We spoke about that back at the March consultation. 4,000 grafts would restore about 50% density to 100cm2, so I should get an average of about 40 fu/cm2 (less at the back and more at the front). I measured and is indeed about 50 fu/cm2 at the front. We covered more than 100cm2, no doubt about that, but he did manage to squeeze a few more grafts out of the strip. The work on the temples is low density anyway and I think he used 300 on them. No worries. Questions from all (Forum or Private Message) welcome! 4,312 FUT grafts (7,676 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2013 1,145 FUE grafts (3,152 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2018 763 FUE grafts (2,094 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - January 2020 Proscar 1.25mg every 3rd day

Senior Member Mickey85 Posted August 29, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted August 29, 2013 Konior has very quickly toppled the likes of Feller, Rahal, Arocha etc in terms of yield, intricacy, hairline design and protocol in my honest opinion. Senior Member 1978matt Posted August 29, 2013 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 29, 2013 Seven days on and I can now start to shampoo the grafted area properly. A few grafts have shed and I have some dry skin near the front which explains the bump like appearance (I think the swelling contributed to the skin cracking). It's not sore but very similar to post-sunburn 'peeling'. 4,312 FUT grafts (7,676 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2013 1,145 FUE grafts (3,152 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2018 763 FUE grafts (2,094 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - January 2020 Proscar 1.25mg every 3rd day
Senior Member chrisdav Posted August 29, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted August 29, 2013 Great documentation 1978Matt. Looks normal. 2 poor unsatisfactory hair transplants performed in the UK. Based on vast research and meeting patients, I travelled to see Dr Feller in New York to get repaired.
Senior Member 1978matt Posted August 30, 2013 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 30, 2013 I thought I'd post a picture of the Doctor's impressively well hidden sutures. Senior Member 1978matt Posted September 3, 2013 Author Senior Member Share Posted September 3, 2013 Sutures came out yesterday (day 12). After about 7 or 8 days I could kind of tell they weren't strictly needed. The suture line becomes flat and the useful tension is no longer there. Good to get them out - another hurdle negotiated. The grafts have grown a fair bit and some more than others. I'm shedding but not that quickly. If I had to guess I would estimate 10-15% of hairs have gone but it's not bucket loads. Maybe 10-15 in the shower and 20 during the twice daily rogaine application. If I can hang on to a sparse covering of hair then that will do me for the next few months! Haircuts are not recommended until 21 days and I'll probably hold out at least another 4/5 days. It's still a bit tender in the donor area. 4,312 FUT grafts (7,676 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2013 1,145 FUE grafts (3,152 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2018 763 FUE grafts (2,094 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - January 2020 Proscar 1.25mg every 3rd day

Senior Member 1978matt Posted September 8, 2013 Author Senior Member Share Posted September 8, 2013 About 75% of hairs have shed. Some remaining ones seem to be growing and I can see some new stubble just under the surface of the scalp (using high megapixel photo), some of which has broken through. Haircut was yesterday and allows for the scar to be fully covered without the need for concealers. Scalp is a bit dry at the front but not sore. 4,312 FUT grafts (7,676 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2013 1,145 FUE grafts (3,152 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2018 763 FUE grafts (2,094 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - January 2020 Proscar 1.25mg every 3rd day

Senior Member Baldietwo Posted September 8, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted September 8, 2013 Hey Matt, Interesting to see your photos. I had my HT on the same day as you. FUT and in the same area. My scalp looks exactly the same as yours! (Except you have more hair in the crown). Most of the hair has shed and we're left with a pink scalp and the odd stubble hair and there. Your scar looks great! Good that you can cover it. Dr Bisanga always shaves an extra 2cm around the strip so takes a while to cover it with hair....oh well. Keep posting updates.
