Senior Member Spanker Posted August 7, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted August 7, 2013 (edited) That kid has a killer head of hair. He also has a very mild for of CVG, or Cutis Verticis Grata. Interesting. It is nice that the doctor was able to do this repair and give the pt peace after a crappy surgery. Senior Member Noodles123 Posted August 8, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted August 8, 2013 Ugh... so jelly as the kids say. The transition from his natural hairline to the transplanted zone is seamless, no mismatch in density.
Senior Member agenteye Posted August 8, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted August 8, 2013 I see a result that looks like the hairline of a kid. Closed temples and very low. How old is the patient? Looks pluggy in the home photos where he's pulling the hair back. It probably was pluggy, because that hairline was originally created by another transplant surgeon. The thread suggests that he had a previous "bad" procedure, and that he went to Dr. Erdogan for a repair. I'm guessing that because this guy had minimal loss to begin with, and what looks to be ample donor, Dr. E just filled grafts into the frontal part of the scalp to blend his previous poor results into one....instead of extracting the previously placed grafts from the hairline. In most cases, I don't necessarily think that a super dense and lowered hairline looks very good.....but I think that this patient pulls the look off very well with his facial features. I would certainly by thrilled to be able to rock that hair/hairstyle, but my loss was just too pronounced to have that done and still maintain a natural-looking head of hair!! Yep, I'm jealous!!!! 4737 FUT with Dr. Rahal on 11/16/2012 Daily regimen: 1/4 Proscar (1.25 mg Finasteride), Rogaine Foam (twice daily), 1000 mcg Biotin, 1 combo Vitamin D/Calcium/Magnesium, 1500 mg Glocosamine, 750 mg MSM, 1200 mg Fish Oil, 2000 mg Vitamin C, Super B-Complex, 400 I.U Vitamin E. Senior Member agenteye Posted August 8, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted August 8, 2013 What facial features are you looking? His face is blocked out completely so there are not any facial features to comment on. Okay, let me rephrase then. You can clearly see the shape of his forehead/head, and even though his facial features are blurred out completely, with a little imagination one can see that the hairline design looks really good as it pertains to him. Again, this is my personal opinion (and may be mine only), but I think his hair looks awesome, and I would love to be able to pull that off!! I don't think the work looks pluggy at all.....and then also, who's going to be as close to him as the camera was taking the photos. If someone were in my face that closely, I have a feeling my "personal space" issue/phobia might return........and I can't afford more counseling at this time! The design looks good if he can keep his hair but most men do not so if he loses more hair his goose is cooked. I'm sure the doctor took that into consideration when he did the transplant. I think any reputable surgeon would certainly not perform an unethical procedure and give the patient a low-framed forehead if the patient was going to progress to a NW VI?! And I'll give you that we don't know the patient's age as it pertains to this case, but the guy has a LOT of hair.....and I don't think he is going to lose that much. 2200 grafts is minor in the grand scheme of things.....and unless he used 4000 grafts in his first restoration (doubtful), he should have plenty of grafts left in his donor to revisit another procedure, if need be. But again, this is just my observation of the situation.....without knowing anymore details of this particular case than anyone else here. Maybe Denny can give us some more information on this particular patient?! 4737 FUT with Dr. Rahal on 11/16/2012 Daily regimen: 1/4 Proscar (1.25 mg Finasteride), Rogaine Foam (twice daily), 1000 mcg Biotin, 1 combo Vitamin D/Calcium/Magnesium, 1500 mg Glocosamine, 750 mg MSM, 1200 mg Fish Oil, 2000 mg Vitamin C, Super B-Complex, 400 I.U Vitamin E. Senior Member agenteye Posted August 8, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted August 8, 2013 We also do not know how much hair was used for the first procedures that were done. He had a strip and he had a FUE. If he had 2000 grafts in the one or two surgeries before this result then he has just used up 4000 grafts for his low NW1 hairline. How many grafts does the average patient have? Some say 6000, some say 9000. If we go by the best case scenario he has used almost half of his donor hair for a pluggy NW1 hairline. I agree, and I acknowledged that in my post directly above. And assuming the best case scenario, I still think this particular patient is in good shape for the future providing his hair loss has stabilized (hopefully with meds). It is always hard to tell from photos, but it appears that this patient has an above average donor area and that an advanced hair loss pattern is unlikely. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I don't think it would be an issue for him for a LONG TIME, if ever! Again, it is just my personal opinion......I'm not saying that your own opinion is wrong or inaccurate in any way, and I think that we would need more patient info/history for anyone to make an accurate assessment. Again, I always try to keep in mind that the doctor who performed the procedure has the best insight on what was suitable for the patient.....and try to remain hopeful that said doctor had the patient's best interest in mind from the start!! 4737 FUT with Dr. Rahal on 11/16/2012 Daily regimen: 1/4 Proscar (1.25 mg Finasteride), Rogaine Foam (twice daily), 1000 mcg Biotin, 1 combo Vitamin D/Calcium/Magnesium, 1500 mg Glocosamine, 750 mg MSM, 1200 mg Fish Oil, 2000 mg Vitamin C, Super B-Complex, 400 I.U Vitamin E.
