after being a member here for years and also having gone through multiple surgeries, there are only 4 doctors I would let work on my head, Dr. Konior, Dr. Hasson, Dr. Lorenzo and Dr. Bisanga

(there are others I might go with if I ever move etc. and they are close by)

go dense or go home

Unbiased advice and opinions based on 25 plus years of researching and actual experience with hair loss, hair restoration via both FUT & FUE, SMP, scalp issues including scalp eczema & seborrheic dermatitis and many others

HSRP10's favorite FUT surgeons: *Dr. Konior, *Dr Hasson, Dr. Rahal

HSRP10's favorite FUE surgeons: *Dr. Konior, *Dr. Bisanga, Dr. Erdogan, Dr. Couto

(*indicates actual experience with doctor)

Thanks all for your help - very handy forum!

I live in Central London but I'm from Croydon!

I had a 2,500 hair transplant using FUT in 2004/5 when I was 25 with only some success but that may because of the doctor who, since the procedure, hasn't been well received in the reviews I've seen in certain online forums. I am currently using Toppix which I wash out once a week.

I haven't really looked into Konior or Lorenzo but after some glowing recommendations I now will. I will also do the same with Arocha.

This also seems to be a decent guideline who are the best ones as you need to be recommended by fellow surgeons.

I am due to meet with representatives of Bisanga and H&W in 6wks and hopefully others around then - it would be good to get a definitive answer whether FUE or FUT would be the right way to go and then I can further narrow down the doctors and meet those two or three in person. I am just a little dubious if one doctor promotes one technique over another due to that being their preferred/specialist procedure above what is the most suitable for me - that's why face to face meetings are needed.

Thanks for the advice.

I have a meeting lined up with a few of them but it is very useful to find out the best people for each technique.

From what I have been reading, 3-4k grafts may well be too many for FUE to be successful (I could be wrong) so I would be after the best FUT doctor's, wherever they are

Incorrect :)

Ha thanks, good to hear! It would be nice to avoid another scar. Having said that the scar

from my previous surgery has recovered very well.

I guess I could have 1,500 grafts FUE one day and another 1,500 the next day or a few months later when the hair has recovered. I'll see what the experts say when I speak to them.

Go into these consultations armed with research. Keep reading these forums and doing google searches with your specific concerns and questions in mind. Talk to other patients on here who have gone to the doctors you have in mind. You can never have too much information. And run like hell from the doctors or consultants that dodge your tougher questions. One of the top clinics I had a consultation with seemed more intent on telling jokes than answering my questions. Don't be quick to make your decision after you meet or talk with them, either. Wait a few days and regroup because you'll have more questions. Good luck.

3,425 FUT grafts with Dr Raymond Konior - Nov 2013

1,600 FUE grafts with Dr Raymond Konior - Dec 2018

After I've read 1,000s of messages and seen quite a few results it's seems like the best people are (in no particular order) ...

FUE: Lorenzo, Bisanga, Feriduni, Umar, Erdogan

FUT: H&W, Feller, Shapiro, Konior, Rahal

I have meetings lined up with 3 or 4 of them or with their consultants and from this I will decide at least if FUE or FUT is the right course for me. I am realistic - I have advanced hair loss, had one failed hair transplant already and need between 3-4k grafts this time around.

If I go down the FUT route, it does seem like the best FUT doctors are based in USA and Canada. From what I've read, Bisanga is possibly the best for FUT in Europe but he doesn't quite match the FUT doctor's I've mentioned

I think its comical wen Maras is not listed as one of the top 5. just shows how clueless some really are.

I submitted an online consultation with e-mailed pics to Maras along with my other top choices, and to date all have replied except for your goldenboy... Not looking good so far, but maybe it's just because he is that good.... in such high demand....bad internet connection in Cyprus.....will give him another week to shine. Must say Feriduni replied within an hour with a detailed assessment - pity he is booked up for the better part of a year. Konior and Bisango were also extremely responsive.

Careful when selecting.

Consider this forum advice / message, which I think this was updated on this forum 2 days ago (5/26/15): "Considering a Hair Transplant? Be careful and learn from patients first. Physician SelectionThe skill and technique of hair restoration surgeons vary widely, as do their hair transplant results. This site is published by hair transplant patients to help others get past the hype to find quality prescreened hair transplant surgeons in Canada, the USA, Europe/Asia and South America."

So as a patient, i am telling you to be careful and look for a doctor that involves themselves 100% in your procedure. A doctor that takes tgeir time and offers you security to resolve any ir all issues resulting from a transplant. This includes s refund policy if something goes downhill.

Sean, besides Konior I am not sure there is another surgeon that is involved in the procedure 100%, unless you definition includes time spent outside of the room whilst still "supervising" the graft placements. I get what you are saying though. In your opinion, how much supervision do you believe is necessary?

Personally, for me, I don't want a tech inserting grafts. Even after 12 hours of surgery (with bathroom breaks), Dr. Konior spent an entire hour "leveling" my grafts...making sure each one was inserted at the same level of the others.

There may be other surgeons who are involved 100%, but that was one of the many reasons I went to Konior.

Also, I went and looked at some of the Maras procedures. In my opinion, those serated hairlines don't look entirely natural. But hey, that's just me.
