Regular Member HairToday72 Posted February 27, 2011 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 27, 2011 thanks for the replies guys. I started avodart as it was getting some amazing reports of miracle regrowth, obviously this was wishful thinking in my case and the results were much that could be expected for a nw7. During my consults with the Dr he advised stopping avodart all together as it was unlikely to be of any benefit in my case. The pre and post op instructions prescribe the use of minoxidil, from what ive read different clinics have different protocols on this. I also stopped the Nizoral as I read its not a good idea after a ht. My Hair Loss Website - Hair Transplant With Dr. Umar

Most can relate to an extend or all the way but its always a pain when you read the effect of hairloss on people around the world. Some are stronger and cope better some are more sensitive and have it worst. Never the less its a shame when good people feel vulnerable to others. I just want to say that you didnt do nothing wrong... even if some of your choises were not the ideal (wigs etc)the only thing you were doing was trying to look better in order to feel better and fit in with others... you are a good man and went through a lot your story was very moving... But thats in the past now!!!I wish you the best and a nice result that will make you very very very happy :D
Regular Member Mac1 Posted April 26, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted April 26, 2011 Hair Today, Wow, just wanted to offer some support. You may be a bit down, but from the outside looking in, this looks amazing for only five months. Im glad you chopped your sides off, it enhances your appearance 10-fold! Have you given some thought to cutting the top even shorter? Happy healing! Also, have you given any though to SMP? Dr. Rassman is offering it and he is in socal. I think for NW6+ it can be very helpful. Good luck buddy!
Senior Member bonkerstonker Posted April 26, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted April 26, 2011 Wow this a fairly insane case (insane in a good way). I can't wait to see how this comes out with so much fue but the 5 month progress looks really good!!! Bonkerstonker! http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=1977 Update I'm now on 12200 Grafts, hair loss has been a thing of my past for years. Also I don't use minoxidil anymore I lost no hair coming off it. Reduced propecia to 1mg every other day. My surgeons were Dr Hasson x 4, Dr Wong x 2 Norton x1 I started losing my hair at 19 in 1999 I started using propecia and minoxidil in 2000 Had 7 hair transplants over 12200 grafts by way of strip but 700 were Fue From Norton in uk
Regular Member HairToday72 Posted April 26, 2011 Author Regular Member Share Posted April 26, 2011 thanks guys. I will be taking some 6 month pics this week and will get them uploaded for u. Mac1, I dont know much about SMP but coincidentally on a tv show last week some guy had something similar done it, it was like a fine tatoo whch looked really good but things always look better on tv, have you seen the result up close?. I was wondering if it would have any effect prospects for future surgery as I was maybe considering a second pass next year for bit more hairline density. Senior Member corvettester Posted April 26, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted April 26, 2011 Arguably, the most anticipated cases on the HTN. I can't wait to see the result. Senior Member hdude46 Posted April 26, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted April 26, 2011 this is just my opinion, but i feel as if some posters here are being disingenuous and not honest about this result. for me, i think u were way to bald to undergo a HT procedure. I think if i saw your head on the street i would stop and stare. Not trying to be mean, just honest. as long as you are happy thats all that matters, but to other posters here i say we encourage honesty, and i doubt im the only person who feels this way. all the 'looks great' comments are head scratching to me. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted April 27, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted April 27, 2011 hairtoday, 5-6 months is still early so you'll definitely see some more progress. It might or might not satisfy you but it will get better. Given the way you cut your hair, I would really really look into SMP with Dr. Rassman. I think that could do much better for you than another FUE transplant for the hairline. You do have some coverage with your current hair (albeit very thin) and some scalp pigmentation could compliment what you already have very nicely. I have seen some cases from Rassman (online) where the hairline is straight and I am not a fan of those. But the faded hairlines look mighty good and some of the scar work makes a huge improvement. You have already taken an unconventional route with your last transplant, so it wouldn't do you any harm in looking into other options - even if they are somewhat new. Either way, keep posting monthly results even if you aren't thrilled. It's a learning experience for all of us. Regular Member Mac1 Posted April 27, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted April 27, 2011 Hair Today, Check out the last few weeks on Baldingblog.com. I am a young NW5 and will never have a full head of hair again. My long term plan is to get a session of 5,000 grafts done to create an image of hair, then fill it out with SMP. In your case, I would wait 6 more months and then see if you will even need it. As for HDUDE, You are right, I would probably stop and take a second look at its current state too. However, 90 percent of HTs i would stop to look at. Main point is that coming from where Hair Today is coming from, this is a massive imporvement, and nowhere to go but up. I don't think anybody is saying it looks great as a final result, but for 5 months this is very very promising. Hair Today's journey has been arduous, no doubt in my mind he is going in the right direction.

To be fair i'd of said 10000 grafts for that size area but 7000 should be a massive difference that's why we're all so interested and not disingenuous as you state. Does anyone know why it is common knowledge that stip surgerys produces the best yield? The reason i ask is what difference does it make if it's a fue graft or a strip graft the result should be the same. Could it be because with strip you get more 3 and 4 hair grafts that is the only way it would make sense to me. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted May 27, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted May 27, 2011 (edited) HairToday, I'd have to say I'm impressed with your progress. Comparing your pre-op's to your 7 month pics shows much improvement! It looks much less conspicuous now than a couple months ago. I think the current length suits you well. Keep growing dude! p.s. I'd still be looking into SMP if I were you (especially for the crown). Senior Member bonkerstonker Posted May 27, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted May 27, 2011 Hair today i don't wanna be alarming but i can't help but notice that your donor looks considerabley moth eaten but to be fair it's kind of a good thing because it makes the top look thicker. You're recipient growth looks well from where you've come from. Regular Member HairToday72 Posted May 28, 2011 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 28, 2011 (edited) Thanks for those comments Aaron and bonkerstonker. I did shave my donor to a number 3 guard so that might be partly why it looks bit thin, shaving it seems to give a better look, but maybe I should let it grow? Over the years I also had some light diffuse thinning just above the ears. Senior Member TC17 Posted May 28, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted May 28, 2011 I hope I'm wrong, but looking at your preop photos, I just don't see how Dr. Umar could have operated on you. I hope things work out well for you, I really do, but I think your donor is going to thin considerably and you will subsequently lose the grafts that have already been transplanted. I can't seem to wrap my head around the notion of tattooing little dots on your head as being a viable option, but in your case, it might actually be worth considering. Good luck! Regular Member HairToday72 Posted May 28, 2011 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 28, 2011 Thanks I really appreciate your thoughts, hopefully your concerns will be mitigated by the majority of grafts being non scalp hair, but I guess time will tell! Regular Member Mac1 Posted May 29, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted May 29, 2011 Wow, Still impressed. I have been following your progress. I agree about the donor looking a bit thinner, but I think at this stage you can try to grow your hair out longer a little bit all over? I would send your pics over to Dr. Rassman just to get his opinion on your possibilities of SMP. Best of luck bud, and congrats so far.
Senior Member ffar Posted May 29, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted May 29, 2011 (edited) In as big baldnes as yours I would never decide to do HT. It is better to get some Hair System. Like Charlie Sheen for example. Edited May 29, 2011 by ffar
Regular Member HairToday72 Posted June 3, 2011 Author Regular Member Share Posted June 3, 2011 Thanks ffar for your thoughts. I completely respect your opinion but i hope you will understand that i dont agree with you. I think its unfair to dismiss all NW7s as lost causes who should just go and get a wig. After 15 years of wearing a toupee I dont want to go back thanks. I'm not Charlie Sheen and the truth is wearing one is really no life, at least it wasnt for me. Cosmetically it gave me the strength to face the world but inside it ate me alive every day: lost relationships, people laughing at me to my face or behind my back, lost friends, paranoia, being the subject of jokes, trauma on windy days and a complex about anybody touching me. I became so trapped and depressed by it, I didn't want to go out with the wig on and I couldnt leave the house without it on. There are plenty of examples of HTN recommended doctors that have operated successfully on NW7s with what look like life changing results for the patient involved. None of the world class doctors I consulted refused to operate on me. For me so far it has been the right decision. I go out more, go to the gym, socialise and have some confidence and doing my best to have a life. I would also have tried what you have done with a nw7 head in a breath if I had the money and your situation hairtoday.
