Hey Guys, sorry it took so long to update. Been a very busy year or so. I got on here the other day and saw a thread about "why people don't come back and update?" so it reminded me to get it done! I am at 18 months now and VERY happy with it. I added a few pics to the album. They are all wet hair pics because my battery died; I'll get dry hair ones soon.

Hey 40!!!! Nice to see the B & W camera you bought in 58 still works!!!!

J/K buddy!!!!

Anyway, your going to look really good after your session---- I would say anything over 3500 grafts is going to make a you look pretty darn good!!!!!

Who knows, you may have to start dating girls in their 20's in order to compliment your new "doo"!!!!!

Looking forward to your progress buddy!!!!

Get this: my 11yr old daughter changed the camera to B/W and I can't figure out how to go back to color!!!

I hope the 4K grafts do me right. My middle area/widows peak is still way down where its always been so I'm hoping that won't be a problem. I am willing to give up a centimeter of forehead coverage to get the DENSITY I want but with my middle hairline going all the way down there, I'm not sure how that can work? Does that make sense? I want to wear it longer if possible; basically one length all the way around so all of my hair would be even with my chin from front to back. I will need density for that but I'm worried that widows peak might screw up that plan.

P40,

You are going to be a showcase patient with your situation IMO. I trust you will get a great result and for someone like me who has no "widows peak" I am truly jealous!! We look forward to your post-op photos, (color please!!!)

Pushing,

Nice to finally see your ugly mug :P. Just teasing brother. 4000 grafts would give you some really nice density and coverage...I think in about 10 months from now you are going to be one happy camper!

I offered this to you in another post, though I don't know if you saw it...I know you are nervous about your journey...so if you want to talk (on the phone) to get any advice/comfort from not only someone who's been through 3 HTs, but someone who's been to Hasson and Wong somewhat recently. Anyway...PM me if you're interested. Later bro.

Bill

You'll be very pleased getting 4000 FU in your shape. It wouldn't surprise me to see you with appearance of a full head of hair. As Nobuzz stated you might be a H&W showcase. Jotronic should be concerned for his job. Good luck with everthing. Enjoy Vancouver, it's an awesome city.

Just buy a new camera. As cheap as they have become it isn't worth the frustration of actually trying to read an instruction manual!! :-)) Cheers

Hey guys, been away for a few days up in Cleveland. Thanks for all the positive inputs, I really appreciate it and I hope you are ALL right! I'm keeping fingers crossed.

The wife said icksnay on dating the 20 yr olds; she says 30 is as young as I can go and since she just turned 30, that works out really well...(for my continued good health and breathing ability)

Flc, I will most likely take you up on that offer here in the next couple of weeks. I really appreicate!

pushing,

I know I've mentioned this before but I think your results are going to be great. If you pack 3500-4000 grafts into that area, density shouldn't be a problem. H&W can definitely get it done for you. They are a class act, can hit the big numbers and will take good care of you.

Look forward to seeing your progress, my friend!

Thanks HB! Trust me, you guys will probably get sick of me posting pics and asking questions after the txplant! I owe this forum a lot of thanks and I really plan on paying back some of the effort as much as I can once I am an "expeienced" txplant patient.

Thanks HB! I will most likely take you guys up on that! I just got my "2 weeks away" e-mail from H&W. Yikes. I still almost can't believe it. At the moment, the thought of being in that chair for several hours is killing me. I have 2 herniated disks in my neck and 2 in my lower back and they are ALL giving me hella pain right now. The lower back has been 3 weeks straight now and that kind of pain for that long really starts to wear on you. It actually starts making you depressed to where you have to be mindful of NOT being a depressed grouchy bastard to everyone. It starts to make you feel old and worn out and I DO NOT want to feel like that.

Pushing40,

I'm jealous of your hair loss and I'm only 25. I was wondering if 4K grafts are really needed? Your hairloss doesnt seem to be that severe.

Pushing's midscalp and crown are solid which is one of the reasons, at his age, I feel he is an ideal candidate for a HT. Take a look at pic # three..................he's frontal third is pretty much shot cosmetically don't you think?

Young guy,

I guess when I first saw his pics and he stated that he is getting 4000 FU I thought the same as you. He could easily get away with doing less and would likely look awesome, but the 4000 figure will IMO give him perfect coverage and density and likely the look of a full head of hair. Why not go for it?

I hope you guys are right! Seriously though, that is my plan. The highest suggestion I got from other docs was 2400 grafts to fill in that frontal 1/3. After consulting with Hasson, his suggestion was 4000 right off the bat based on a couple of specific things I think:

1) my age being 40yrs old, my future baldness pattern is pretty much discernable by now. I may lose more hair, but not at the rate of a 25yr old diffuse thinner.

2) I started propecia only 1 yr ago next week, so all the hair I do have up top and in back is NOT there because of that drug; it is still there naturally and simply hasn't "departed" yet.

3) my donor area is fairly decent as in no thinning on the back and sides really and is pretty much average as far as I know.

There are a couple of things working against me though I think: I do have fairly fine hair. Always have. I also have very straight hair. All in all, I'll just have to see how it turns out in a year. Only two weeks to go baby!!

FWIW, I think your thought #1 regarding age is a huge factor. At 40, you've established the pattern of loss......even if you thinned in the crown later you'll still have some donor hair left. Obviously, you'll want to mention this to the Doc before you go under knife.

If you were 23-27 I believe the plan should not be quite as aggressive. Just my thoughts.

Can't wait to see your finished results, dude!!

Pushing 40,

I can't wait to see your results. If you end up going with 4k grafts I can imagine how awesome your head of hair will look. I guess I question the numbers of grafts cause I'm thinking of my hair loss pattern and my goals not yours. Best of luck Dr. Hasson work is amazing and I look forward to meeting him in the future as well.

Good luck with your upcoming ht, I'm sure everything will work out. You'll look great with the front 1/3 done.

I just had my first ht done by Dr Hasson on Monday and all went well. The only advice I could give you is to keep doing the scalp exercises, really stretch the skin on the back of the head, just in case he needs more grafts. I also found putting a rolled up towel just below the staples helped me sleep better, that way the staples did not have any pressure on them.

I had mine done with Dr. Hasson 8 days ago. Feeling really good. My wife is amazed at how "clean" the staples are...none of the skin is pulling or bunching up.

No shock loss yet...I've got my fingers crossed.

The towel under the head idea is a good one. Thanks for the photos, and best wishes to you!

Pushing 40, I didn't get to meet Dr Hasson until surgery day as my flight was delayed, it wasn't a problem. The day before surgery I took a nap during the day because I knew I wouldn't get much sleep at night. Surgery night I took the sleeping pill and fell fast a sleep. I had swelling starting the day after, by days 3 and 4 I looked like the elephant man. Now at day 5 almost all the swelling is gone.

I just started putting vitamin 3 oil on my grafts today, to help loosen the skin. But not on the staples. Also just started taking 3000mg of MSM daily for the first time, to hopefully speed up the growth.

I just watched the last few minutes of Mission Impossible 2 with Tom Cruise. Damn! What a beautiful freakin' head of hair. It was long in that movie and made me want to punch him right in the teeth. Some people are just lucky I guess. Bastards.
