  1. All three have great reputations and do excellent work. You may also want to consult with Dr. True if you live in New York, and then make your decision from there. You'd be in good hands with any of them in my opinion.
  2. I would like to reiterate what John Se says. Get on Propecia or Proscar. It will most likely slow down or even halt your hair loss. You may even get some regrowth.
  3. Speaking of street bums... anybody have any theories as to why so many of them seem to have such thick hair? I've read that it's because many of them abuse alcohol or drugs, thereby suppressing testerone levels, and in turn, DHT levels.
  4. Dr. Jeffrey Epstein is very experienced with repairs. It's one of his areas of expertise.
  5. Reboot, First thing I would do is see your primary care physician or a dermatologist for a prescription for propecia. This will most likely slow down or even halt your hair loss. GuitarPlayer
  6. You're absolutely right. On the other prominent site, which only promotes a total of about four doctors or clinics, most of the posters there have never heard of Jeffrey Epstein, Ron Shapiro, Paul Rose, Robert True, David Seager, etc.
  7. Pat, Thanks again for your reply. I would be very interested in reading the article that Dr. Ron Shapiro wrote. Where can I find it? Thanks, GuitarPlayer
  8. I've always read that Propecia/Proscar and Rogaine taken together has a synergistic effect.
  9. Pat, Thanks for your reply. If this is what's really going on at these clinics advertising 5000+ sessions, then this is very deceitful. Let's say a person had a 6000 sub-follicular session, how many grafts would that be of proper follicular units? About 4000? If this is the case, then the patient is getting ripped off for 2000 grafts. Pat, have you inspected the scalps of some of these patients to find that they only had 1's and 2's in the midscalp region? Thanks, GuitarPlayer
  10. Finallyfree, I believe most of the top hair transplant physicians shoot for a 40-50% restoration. GuitarPlayer
  11. Most say you need to wear your hair at a grade 2 or higher in order to hide the scar.
  12. Sounds like an interesting development. There is another thread on this doctor in the "Hair Restoration Questions and Surgeon Reviews" Section.
  13. Numbness is temporary and should only last up to a couple of months.
  14. I don't quite understand your question: "How long does your hair have to be in the donor section?" Can you reword this?
  15. I don't think smoking can cause hairloss. However, if you're thinking of getting a hair transplant, you will have to quite smoking for a couple of weeks prior and a couple weeks after the transplant. The reason for this is that smoking impedes the healing process.
  16. I would like to know more about these "sub follicular units." Have these other clinics admitted to doing this?
  17. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Dr. Ellenbogen and Dr. Glassman two of the top plastic surgeons in the LA/Beverly Hills area? If they are both recommending this doctor in Brazil then that should say something. Still do your own research too, of course.
  18. All four of the docs that you had mentioned comprise what is known as the Shapiro Medical Group. However, Keene, Rose, and Charles all have seperate offices in Arizona, Tampa, and Boca Raton, respectively.
  19. Pat, Will you be giving us a summary after the event? I'm sure a lot of us would like to hear about any new techniques shared and who was in attendance. Thanks, GuitarPlayer
  20. I would say 10,000. I've read that the average person has about 8,000 grafts to spare. So, if you use the 8,000 through strip and then fue another 2000 you should be set.
  21. Last I heard, Dr. Norwood had retired.
  22. At your age, I would get on Propecia right away. It will most likely stop you from losing any more hair and you may even achieve a little regrowth, since your hair loss has only occurred over the last two years. Later on, you may want to add Rogaine and Nizoral to your regimen, but Propecia should be the foundation of your regimen.
  23. I would consult with True, Bernstein, Epstein, and Feller and make my decision from there. All four are excellent doctors and have great reputations.
  24. All of the doctors mentioned in this thread do excellent work and have great reputations. Since it sounds as though you live in close proximity to all four of them, I would consult with all of them.
  25. CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)----Curis, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRIS), a therapeutic drug development company, today announced that the Company has entered into an exclusive worldwide research and development agreement with Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals, a division of The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE: PG), to evaluate and develop potential treatments for hair growth regulation utilizing Curis' Hedgehog agonist technology. Future efforts may be expanded to address other skin disorders. To date, Curis scientists have demonstrated that small molecule Hedgehog agonists can induce hair growth in pre-clinical models. Under the terms of the agreement, the Company has granted P&G an exclusive, worldwide royalty-bearing license for the non-systemic, dermatological use of Curis' Hedgehog agonist technology, via topical administration. Curis will have an option to co-develop a development candidate through Phase II clinical trials. Curis will retain rights to veterinary applications of the technology. P&G has a first option to negotiate a collaboration for veterinary indications in the field of dermatology. Curis continues to retain rights to certain non-systemic applications of the Hedgehog agonist technology, specifically for local cardiovascular and ex vivo use. "Procter & Gamble's expertise in pharmaceutical development, combined with their solid track record in creating market-leading hair and skin care products, makes them an excellent choice as a partner for our hair program," said Daniel R. Passeri, President and Chief Executive Officer of Curis, Inc. "This is the second collaboration agreement structured to provide Curis possible co-development opportunities. Collaborating with major pharmaceutical companies to execute clinical programs is one way to build Curis' internal development capabilities to re-apply to our in-house programs." P&G has agreed to pay Curis a $0.5 million initial payment and up to $2.8 million in preclinical milestones, contingent upon achievement of certain preclinical goals. P&G has agreed to make cash payments to Curis assuming successful completion of certain clinical development and drug approval milestones. If a development candidate derived from the collaboration is successfully commercialized, P&G has agreed to pay a royalty on net product sales. At the time of filing an Investigational New Drug Application (IND) with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Curis will have the option to co-develop a product candidate through Phases 1 and 2 of clinical development. If Curis exercises its co-development option it will be entitled to a higher royalty percentage on net product sales of any successfully co-developed products although Curis would forgo two early clinical milestone payments from P&G. Assuming that the collaboration continues for its full term, with at least one product commercialized by P&G worldwide in two indications and developed directly by P&G on a global basis, Curis could receive more than $100 million in milestone payments. Such milestones would be payable whether Curis elected to co-develop a candidate or not. Curis' Hedgehog agonist program was exclusively licensed to Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in January of 2004. Under the terms of the license agreement, Curis retained the right to develop Hedgehog agonists for topical treatment to stimulate hair growth. The license agreement was subsequently amended to broaden Curis' development rights to include topical applications to treat or prevent skin diseases or disorders and Wyeth has approved a group of Hedgehog agonist compounds for use in Curis' retained programs. Curis scientists have demonstrated that small molecule Hedgehog agonists can induce hair growth in pre-clinical models. These results were presented in February of 2005 at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology. In this study, a small molecule Hedgehog agonist, when topically formulated and applied to the skin, triggers the transition of hair follicles from the resting to the growth phase of the hair cycle. The authors of the study conclude that the topical application of a Hedgehog agonist may be effective in treating hair disorders, such as male pattern baldness and female pattern hair loss. In the United States alone, approximately 80 million men and women suffer from hair loss. "We believe that this collaboration with P&G provides additional validation of Curis' proprietary expertise in the field of signaling pathways," said Passeri. About Curis, Inc. Curis, Inc. is a therapeutic drug development company. The Company's technology focus is on regulatory pathways that control repair and regeneration. Curis' product development involves the use of proteins or small molecules to modulate these pathways. Curis has successfully used this technology and product development approach to produce several promising drug product candidates in the fields of cancer (under collaboration with Genentech, which also includes a co-development arrangement for a basal cell carcinoma product candidate), kidney disease (licensed to Ortho Biotech Products and under development at Centocor, both subsidiaries of Johnson & Johnson), neurological disorders (under collaboration with Wyeth), hair growth (under collaboration with P&G), and cardiovascular disease.
