  1. I believe both of their techniques, along with Dr. Rose's ledge closure, are designed to have hair growing through the scar.
  2. Malik, What do your post-op instructions say? You should really ask your doctor first. In general, one should wait at least a few weeks before applying Rogaine. This is because Rogaine contains alcohol, which can kill the grafts. I believe Propecia can be taken right away. You should probably wait at least a month before heavy weight lifting. Again, you should check with your doctor first. GuitarPlayer
  3. Very impressive line-up for this event. I think workshops like this are great, as leading physicians can learn the latest techniques from their peers. Keep up the good work Pat!
  4. Bezane, To the best of my knowledge, I believe Hasson and Wong are the only physicians that require you to shave the recipient area. GuitarPlayer
  5. Anybody know which surgeons will be attending the workshop?
  6. Hairworthy, You got a steal for $8500, especially considering your impressive results. How long ago did you have your procedure with Dr. Hasson? GuitarPlayer Hairworthy, Don't bother answering my question as I just realized that in your signature it states that you had your procedure in June of 2004. GuitarPlayer

  8. Jamesmat, I have never heard of the doctor you mentioned. This is not to say that he may not be good, I have just never heard of him. Does he do all follicular unit transplants? Anything else is outdated. Perhaps you may want to consult with Dr. Martinek in Australia. She has an excellent reputation amongst her patients and colleagues alike. GuitarPlayer
  9. Most reputable doctors charge per graft, not per hair. Charging per hair would raise a red flag to me.
  10. Rich G is absolutely correct in that masking old transplants with follicular units can provide excellent results, however, the old transplants can also be removed. I know that both Dr. Bernstein (New York) and Dr. Jeffrey Epstein (Miami/New York) have experience removing old plugs. You may want to start your search with those two doctors.
  11. I have seen this doctor's name before, although I have not seen any reviews on him. He is not with MHR. I believe he is a plastic surgeon who performs many other procedures besides hair transplants. I don't know what percentage of his practice hair transplants comprise. That is a question you might want to ask if you consult with him. Also make sure he is doing all follicular unit hair transplants. You may also want to check out Dr. Jeffrey Epstein and Dr. Glenn Charles, who are both in South Florida. They are both members of the Coalition and come highly recommended on this site.
  12. I have never heard of this drug or supplement. Who is it made by? Under what mechanism does it claim to work by? Is it a topical or oral medication/supplement?
  13. I believe the plastic surgery procedure for this is called otoplasty. Maybe you want to do a general search on the web using the term "otoplasty." I don't know much about it other than that it is somewhat commonly performed on children.
  14. Robert is certainly correct in stating that pro-hormones/steroids could have caused you to thin/bald prematurely. They can also exacerbate already-existing hair loss. Propecia could very well help you maintain what you have left, or at least slow down the progression of your hair loss.
  15. Lashboy, Dr. Joseph Williams is a member of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians. This means that he has been selectively screened to be ethical, to be using the latest techniques, and to be providing quality work. Perhaps you may want to run a search on this site using his name to see if there are any patient reviews. Also, don't limit yourself to location. Many people travel to get "work" done. GuitarPlayer
  16. mxm, Arfy mentioned to you about taking a look at Revivogen. If I'm not mistaken, saw palmetto is one of the main ingredients in Revivogen. Perhaps you might want to try saw palmetto. You'd have nothing to lose other than about $10 per month. Nizoral is something else that may be suitable for someone your age. It's a therapeutic shampoo that is supposed to rid the scalp of dht. GuitarPlayer
  17. I agree with what Robert and Arfy said about seeing a dermatologist. Have you had a thyroid test done? Your thyroid should really be the first thing you and your doctor take a look at. An under-active thyroid can cause hairloss.
  18. Gator, I have been reading and posting on various forums for about two or three years now and I have not read anything remotely negative about Dr. Charles. He seems to be a class act. Besides, he's affiliated with Dr. Ron Shapiro. I don't believe Ron Shapiro would be affiliated with a doctor who did sub-par work. Best of luck with your procedure. GuitarPlayer
  19. With such a small area to cover, I believe that 1000 grafts could very well make a significant difference.
  20. From everything that I have read and heard, in addition to my own experiences with transplants, donor hair tends to be coarser and darker than your original hair. With that being said, I believe some of the coarseness is supposed to dissipate over time.
  21. Who is the best is definitely in the eye of the beholder. With that being said, the three docs you mentioned would definitely be considered among "The Best." I would consult with all three and see who YOU like best.
  22. I had a look at the website and they seem legit. They seem to be using the latest techniques and their before and after pictures looked pretty good. Maybe Pat can take a trip to Sweden and let us all know. Pat, I'm available if you need someone to accompany you for the trip. LOL I've been to Sweden before, so maybe I could be your tour guide.
  23. I have heard good things about a Dr. Harris in Denver. I believe he is recommended on this site.
  24. Most people start seeing good growth right around the 6-8 month time frame. It takes about a year to see the full results of a hair transplant.
  25. After looking at your photos, I came to the following conclusion. You have a ton of hair! A lot of guys on here would kill to have as much hair as you. I wouldn't engage in a hair transplant if I were you. You'd be risking shockloss and an unnatural look down the road if you lost the rest of your hair and were just left with your tranplanted temples. I would just stick to the meds for the time being.
