  1. I'm not familiar with anyone who had a repair surgery with Dr. Martinick, but I do know that she has an excellent reputation both among her patients and her peers. Perhaps you may want to email her office. Maybe they have some repair before and afters they can email you.
  2. JH, If you don't mind me asking, who did you consult with in the US? Since it sounds like you're in need of a pretty significant repair job, I would recommend consulting with at least three top notch surgeons who have plenty of expertise in performing repair surgeries. GuitarPlayer
  3. I think using Nizoral everyday would be excessive. It would completely dry your hair and scalp out, as it is a medicated shampoo. Most guys that use Nizoral for hair loss purposes only use it 2-3 times per week, myself included.
  4. I'm curious as to what these bad results were from Dr. DeYarman and Dr. Epstein. I don't recall any bad results from either of these docs.
  5. I have heard good feedback about this doctor. I would also like to see some of your pics if you wouldn't mind posting them.
  6. DocPatient, Did Dr. Epstein do your Botox injections? I believe he is doing that now. GuitarPlayer
  7. Very impressive work. Dr. Kabaker seems to be another surgoen who does not get his due online.
  8. No, you don't have to inform your insurance company as they deem it a cosmetic procedure. Insurance won't cover any portion of a hair transplant or Propecia. I suppose the only exception to this would be if you were a burn victim. In that circumstance, the insurance company may cover a hair transplant.
  9. It wouldn't be ethical to do as you would have to be on anti-rejection drugs for the rest of your life to prevent your body from rejecting the other person's donor hair. No one knows yet what the long-term side effects of these drugs are. This is one of the ethical concerns that was raised when the woman in France received a face transplant.
  10. I would say your hair would have to be long enough for the doctor to evaluate your pattern of hair loss. I would say Gorpy's recommendation of a quarter inch sounds pretty reasonable.
  11. I would just like to add that Neutrogena T-Gel and T-Sal have been very effective for me in reducing the scalp itchiness and irritation caused by minoxidil.
  12. Dr. Feller seems to have the most experience performing FUE in the Northeast. I'm not quite sure if True and Dorin perform FUE. Perhaps you may want to check their website. They are also in the New York area and have a great reputation.
  13. Like Laughter's Medicine stated, there are no controlled studies that I am aware of that evaluate saw palmetto for hair loss purposes. There are, however, studies that have been done evaluating saw palmetto for an enlarged prostate. It seems to help for an enlarged prostate, but I don't believe anyone knows why. Your best bet for slowing down or even halting your hair loss is Propecia.
  14. DannyG, Dr. Epstein, Dr. Charles, and Dr. Rose all have great reputations. You would be in good hands with any of them. Dr. Rose is in Tampa, whereas Dr. Epstein and Dr. Charles are in South Florida. BTW, the website for Dr. Charles is charleshair.com, not the website you have listed next to his name. Dr. Epstein's website is foundhair.com. GuitarPlayer
  15. Whatever he's done, I think McConaughey's hair looks great. Most actors in Hollywood wear hairpieces as opposed to having had hair transplants. I think he definitely looks better with hair. He was in a movie a few years back where he was sporting a shaved head. I don't think it suited him.
  16. Damo, You must be very pleased with your results. Excellent results by Dr. Martinick. Dr. Martinick not only has the respect and admiration of her patients, but is also highly respected by her peers. GuitarPlayer
  17. Gfunk, I would recommend consulting with Drs. Jeffrey Epstein, Robert Bernstein, Ron Shapiro, and Hasson and Wong. They are all very skilled at doing repairs. I have also heard that Dr. James Vogel and Dr. Jack Fisher are also very skilled at doing repairs. GuitarPlayer
  18. From what I understand, Armani charges significantly more for a repair job where as most other top docs just charge you for the additional amount of grafts you're getting. I don't know the accuracy of this, but I have heard that Armani charges as much as 50% more if you are a repair patient.
  19. Htfm, It's tough to say how much transplanted hair will fall out. Most people experience the vast majority of their transplanted hair falling out within a few weeks after surgery. However, some, especially those using minoxidil post-op, may keep a large percentage of their transplanted hair. Are you using minoxidil post-op? GuitarPlayer
  20. Robert, I cannot even see where you had additional grafts placed. Did you add a little more density all over or possibly bring your hairline down a bit? It is absolutely undetectable that just had another surgery. GuitarPlayer
  21. I have to agree with what many others have said on this thread regarding Dr. Ron Shapiro. I have never read anything even remotely negative about his skills, his ethics, etc. In my opinion, he does some of the best hairlines in the industry. He is an absolute master at hairlines.
  22. Not_A_Cylon, It just takes time. You have to be patient. Don't expect to be able to assess the full results of a transplant until about a year. At six months post-op, you probably only have about 60% or so of your new growth coming in. GuitarPlayer
  23. Energize, In your general vicinity, I would recommend checking out Dr. Keene in Tucson, and Drs. Hasson and Wong in Vancouver. These doctors all have a reputation for doing outstanding work. I believe all of these docs offer online consults as well. Good luck in your search. GuitarPlayer
  24. Mxm, Have you tried any of the hair thickening shampoos on the market? I have very fine hair as well and have found hair thickening shampoos to be quite useful. Some of the ones I have had good results with are Loreal Vive for Men and Jason "Thin to Thick." Perhaps you might want to try two days with a hair thickening shampoo and then Nizoral on the third day. Then repeat the process. GuitarPlayer
  25. Wesley949, That was very nice of Dr. Bernstein to remove your old transplants free of charge since you were having another procedure. I'm sure you will be pleased with your results. Dr. Bernstein has an excellent reputation for doing repair work. GuitarPlayer
