  1. I wouldn't do it still. You would need atleast 1500-2000 fue grafts for the crown to look somewhat full with a buzzed look but for a longer head of hair 3k-4k might be needed. Not to mention the thinning front. Your fue donor is generally much less than your strip donor. On top of that, you might need another fue surgery in 3-5 years because your crown has advanced to nw7 stage creating a ring without hairs at all. A controversial approach could be to not use propecia, and instead wait to become NW7. Then use as many FUE grafts as possible to achieve a thin, buzzed look, that would look good especially with some blended concealers. Until that time comes (it may take 3-10 years, but the odds are it will come) you might want to look into the option of using hairpieces. They are not inexpensive, but good ones can look very natural and stylish.
  2. Here's one of Johnny Depp. Probably a more realistic scenario, and another example of someone in their late forties with great hairlines (without being freakishly perfect like clooney or pitt)
  3. My point goes for cases where the patient is expected to have enough grafts to cover future balding patches, and achieve a decent density for the hairline. For example the 55 year old NW3 that has been on propecia for 3 years and has had no advancements in his hair loss would be a great candicate to achieve a youthful hairline. Perhaps not Clooney level, but you get the picture. Personally I started balding early, so in my case I did have to use some restraint with the hairline, but for far older people I think that a lower hairline can benefit the appearance without looking unnaturally youthful. If you cannot get the grafts to support it in the first place, then of course, I agree that it's a bad idea. Megatron, from my understanding NW1 are preteens and girls/women, but perhaps you're right. Still, NW2 would still look great on most people past their teens to their grave, so I guess the point stands.
  4. Many posters on these forums advocate a mature hairline that will look natural as you age. Much of their argument is based on how unnatural a low hairline would look as you grow older. Of course, if grafts is the restricting factor, then that's definitely a solid argument, but for the cases where grafts aren't, I think that the general consensus for what's natural and what isn't could use a revision. For example, womens favorite silverfox George Clooney at age 49: Now whether or not his hair is natural or not is irrelevant, the point is that he has a perfect NW2 hairline at nearly half a century old. I think it looks awesome, as do most. Brad Pitt's hairline is even lower while only 3 years George's junior. I'm not idolizing celebrities at all, they were just the archetype of well known people with amazing hairlines. So what about old age, nearing the end of your life? Here's a pic of Sean Connery at the age of 70. He's probably using a hairpiece in this one though. Still, I think it looks great. I haven't seen any doctors creating preteen NW1 hairlines (that would indeed look unnatural), but I've seen 60-70 year old NW2's in real life and they've never looked unnatural other than the fact that it subtracted 10-15 years from their appearance.
  5. I am about 2 weeks post op with my procedure with Dr Mohmand. I think that Shahid must be very busy. When I was corresponding with him, he almost always replied the day after or at least the day after tomorrow. I wish you the best of luck!
  6. Thanks Julius, but in all fairness the decision was not mine to make. Due to the size of the scar, I was left without a choice. But it was probably for the best.
  7. Propecia and rogaine work differently. Thus using both of them will be better than just using one of them. However, if you could only choose one of them, propecia is much stronger than rogaine, hands down. Try to get hands on proscar. Essentially the same thing, but 5 times as strong. You will need to manually cut the pill into 5 pieces (no, the effect on your hair will not be 5 times higher, it will be less than 1% with serious side effects so don't even think about it) however, the price is much lower. Not all doctors will proscribe it, so you may need to be lucky or change doctors if possible.
  8. I am sorry bro, but you seem like a really bad candidate for a HT. Considering your age and level of baldness, there's a good chance that you end up as a NW7 in 3-7 years (though propecia could slow this down) Unless you have INCREDIBLE donor and several coalition doctors can attest to the fact that you have at least 10000+ donor hair available I would advice against any form of procedure other than medicine. On top of that, unless you go to Hasson and Wong, you will probably require several procedures to receive an acceptable result. It's going to be really expensive, and you will need to save up for future procedures. Yeah, it's quiet a mess. I wouldn't do it. You're a NW6 at 23 and to make matters worse your crown is practically non-existent. I was/am a diffuse NW4 with a decent crown, and most people would call my case a bit of a stretch. On the good side, you still have a fairly good front lock. My suggestion is to get on Propecia to slow down your hairloss as much as possible, and buzz your hair down to 1 mm. Who knows, you might like it. Dr. Humayun will definitely turn you down, as will 99% of all ethical doctors. Sorry for the blunt delivery, I believe that honestly is much more important.
  9. Depends 25 might be appropriate for a diffuse thinner it might also be enough for fue if you plan to buzz and finally, the doctor might believe that 2 surgeries will yield a better final result.
  10. Supposedly the grafts are secure after a very brief period. If subsequently they fall out, a permanent damage is almost always followed by a drip of blood. After 3+ days, removing a graft would require a lot of force!
  11. You know... when you get cosmetic surgery, there is a chance of something going wrong. Hopefully nothing critical, but by definition the outcome cannot be perfect. Indeed, you can try to rectify the 'problem' but this too may cause new complications. The point is that your scar (for lack of a better word) is minimal, I think it looks great on you. So why not just make it one of those small things that are unique to you. Personally I have one on my chin from an accident as a kid. Despite having had 3 HT's I would never bother to do anything about it since it's just part of me. So I agree with Vince. Your masculinity has increased, but each to his own I guess.
  12. I took propecia and my pain meds out of pakistan without any problems. As long as it's in the package with a description you should be fine.
  13. I haven't seen any evidence of fue having harsher qualities for the hairline. Since grafts can be damaged during the process it isn't an unthinkable scenario, but I have nothing conclusive to back it up. But if you're going specifically for the shaved look, why would you pick fut? Isn't the point to avoid a detectable scar?
  14. 7k is a very very big stretch coming from the scalp alone. Besides, it would be incredibly expensive, especially in combination with BHT(which some clinics charge even extra for) Not saying it isn't possible, but it requires amazing donor qualities. The person in scar5's link has received 3777 grafts from fue exclusively and the trained eye can EASILY see the spotted area. He could probably still pull it off against the ignorant public, but it's definitely visible.
  15. I agree. Too early for a BHT, but the results so far look pretty ok! A definite improvement.
  16. If you're in need of a HT in your mid twenties, but cannot live with the sides of propecia, I would advice against a HT. Propecia blocks around 2/3 to 3/4 of the DHT, which in theory means that you bald 3-4 times as slow when you're on the pill.
  17. I guess it really depends. If you're a candidate for fue, and want to shave down to 2-4 mm you could probably pull it off with as little as 30-35 grafts/cm2 given that you restore a NW 2 hairline+temporal peaks. The crown is the least important in this case as it can be practically non-existant without impacting the overall shaved look too much. The best approach would probably be to get a large area covered, and use concealer to add the illusion of density.
  18. Hi First of all, it looks great. Second, the lack of hairs make it look a bit like a scar. Don't sweat it if it doesn't regrow. It gives you a rugged look. Personally I've learned to love my imperfections, it's part of who I am. Perfection is dull! also, chicks dig scars.
  19. Hi stromhold Well, most people would probably not advice you to get a HT given your age and loss, but rather get on meds and wait until 27+. As one of the most aggressive members on this site, this is probably going to sound hollow though. There is ofcourse always the chance of ending up NW7 and not having enough grafts. If that happens, are you willing to 1) Shave down, show a scar, accept it 2) Possibly spend money on fue for the scar or make use of consealers and/or buzz-illusion-tattoo's (if you don't like option #1) 3) Hairpiece 4) Wait for hair cloning (could take many years from now) If you accept the above, go ahead and start consulting with doctors. If you have ANY hestitation though, don't. You have to be sure of your decition, because it can't be undone. If you're on a budget, and have family ties in pakistan, go to Mohmand and no one else. He is the only pakistani recognised by this community. I am 2 weeks post op of my surgery with him and it was a pleasent experience.
  20. Most hairlines are slightly see-through for the first 1-2 cm depending on the person. The way I see it, you're not balding at all.
  21. From my understanding, it's rather rare for propecia to have noticeable impact on the temple and hairline region?
  22. Nope, funds were the primary reason. My results were good, dr. mohmand confirmed that I had a nice (although thin) hairline.
