  1. Good advice above. You shouldn't limit yourself on location and convenience it should be the best Doctor for your husbands situation. For those Doctors that you are not near you should set up online consultations via good clear photos. The list of Doctors on here would be a very good place to start. There are also many excellent blogs/websites of documented patient experiences here Hair Transplant Blogs They have been kind enough to state the level of loss of the front of each case so finding other Norwood 6's will be easy. All the best.
  2. Thanks for your comments guys much appreciated. I spoke to the patient recently and he is very happy with his result and how it has changed his life for the better.
  3. Thanks, you say strongly advised, What would you say to surgeons that say, don't bother, if it gets worse you can come back and have it done again? I don't really want to be bothered with either drug, but would you find it strange that any surgeon said don't bother taking either? Your transplanted hair, I assume would grow OK without drugs Anyone know why Rogers didn't follow up on this forum? It depends on your age and how much hair you still have to lose and as long as they made you aware that not taking the drug will certainly mean coming back again then that is ok. The transplanted hair will grow without any medication no problems the medication is to save as much of your native hair. Can't answer the last question, why don't you schedule a consult with him?
  4. The strip removal takes around an hour on average but for larger sessions and tougher scalp it can take around 1.5 hours. Good luck with your procedure, as you mention you won't feel anything after the injections and these are all done with quickly. A good clinic will always make time to get the number of grafts they recommend or that you require, I would hate to see you rushed out the door as you are out of time.
  5. At 10 days the grafts are pretty safe and should not have been harmed as the skin has healed over by this time. I would imagine that the scalp would have shown some adverse reaction by now if it was going to. I would hope you have got away with it, of course no one has ever done any research before on anti freeze and newly transplanted grafts, you may just have been the first to do so! Try to relax as imo it would be the skin that would also be irritated if there was a problem.
  6. This UK patient had 5919 grafts in one session to address his hair loss issues and high hairline in September 2011. He visited Dr Hasson when he was in London in March 2012 and we were able to take some photos at 6.5 months which are represented in the first series of before and after photos. The second set of photos have been send to me directly by the patient recently which show him 22 months post op. He is rightfully delighted with his result and posted this elsewhere at 10 months post op. I am 40 yrs old in a few weeks. I started losing my hair at 25 yrs old.It was devastating. That was the day I realised I hadn’t cheated the hereditary hairloss . Over the years I kept cutting my hair shorter and shorter and kept looking at myself thinking I didn’t need to shave it all off. By the time I was 37 I looked quite strange with a receding hairline and loss on the crown.Thats when I started looking at HT’s. I looked at all the websites and found Hasson and Wong. I was amazed at the consistent results.I went to London to meet David .He was really helpful and sent my pictures to Dr Hasson. He emailed me a few days later. It looked like Dr Hasson thought I would be a good candidate and said 4200 grafts should be achievable. A year past and I hadn’t done anything .I spoke to Dr Hasson and he told me not to worry and just go ahead with the procedure ,he seemed quite confident .Finally in September 2011 after speaking to David again I went to Vancouver with my 13 yr old son. Wow what a great place. Its almost as if I don’t really remember the procedure as I had such a great time just being there. The weather was superb and the people were so friendly. They give you a letter to tell customs what you are there for. When I presented it to the customs officer he congratulated me and wished me luck. What a great city. I met Dr Hasson on the morning of the procedure and he said I had good laxity and dense hair and should get 5000 grafts. He then shaved my head and started.Half way through the count he said we are at approx 3000 .I was delighted when the final figure came in at 5800 (approx). I cannot start to tell you how professional these people are. The office and procedure room are state of the art. They made me feel like part of a family and made sure me and my son were comfortable the whole way through. They have given me my life back…..That's all I can say.Thank you Victor Hasson and all the team and of course David for taking the time and effort to talk me through the whole journey with care and consideration. 6.5 MONTHS COMPARE 22 MONTHS POST OP SENT BY PATIENT
  7. tbh, It is not always essential to take propecia/fin to have surgery but it is strongly advised and in some cases we would be very cautious with surgery if the patient is not taking any preventative medication. It depends on your own situation if you have not tried the medication and are loosing hair at the rate you are saying then you would be really best advised to give it a try. Some people swear in minox and say it has helped them personally I have not been inclined to take it all the time I am taking propecia. The Doctor was right the new transplanted hair will stay with you, mine is still growing from 17 years ago perfectly well. Let me know if I can help any further.
  8. Very few of Dr Rogers patients post online I am afraid, there was a visit by this forum to his clinic quite a few years ago but there seemed to be no follow up by the Doctor. The only clinic in the UK recommended on here is the Farjo clinic.
  9. Thanks for posting about your second experience with Dr Hasson I look forward to seeing your updates and would be good to meet up with you in the future to get some photos and see your progress in person.

  13. The one month stage is a tough one for sure as they hairs have shed and you are in the waiting period and with very little that is going to happen apart from the healing process for the next 2-3 months you would be best advised to focus on something new. Taking monthly photos is a great idea and doing other positive things like getting fit and healthier is a great idea. If you can't afford to do the ideas suggested by Rob or you might be hiding away a little from people then try to take up a new interest or hobby anything to stop the constant checking in the mirror which is really difficult not to do. It is perfectly normal to be anxious as you have invested a good deal of money into your new hairs and it is upsetting to see them disappear but believe me it is so so satisfying seeing new hairs come in from month 4-6 onwards. All the best with it all
  14. Don't worry you won't have done any harm. Please remember 4 months is just the very start of things and many patients don't start to see a benefit until 5/6 months from surgery. It's a long waiting game and patience is the key.
  15. Thanks for posting the pictures I am really pleased that things have turned out so well for you. I know through speaking to you and when we met all that time back in 2010 that you did your research and I am very happy that you have got a great result. Looking forward to seeing the photos once you visit the clinic next month.

  19. Yes I think you are right around 250 grafts possibly more would be an average. As to what is best to use these grafts for most Doctors would recommend the hairline as this will have the best visual impact once grown in. If someone has a thin area then 250 grafts would help it really depends of your level of loss. Someone with advanced hair loss like myself 250 would not really make a noticeable difference in the crown. Some patients who have multiple scars sometimes place these grafts into another scar that is more difficult to revise or where there is not enough laxity to revise to break it up a little.
  20. I got 623 from my scar revision in 2010 but that was also because Dr Hasson wanted to get some grafts for my hairline. There is no way of really answering you question as to how many you will get because it will come down to. 1. The width of your scar 2. Your laxity 3. The density around the scar If you are hoping for some grafts you should loosen up your scalp which I am sure you must be doing and make sure the Doctor knows this is what you want beforehand. Good luck
  21. Thanks very much for joining the forum Glassdome and posting your comments.
  22. Thanks for posting Joe, this patient is very happy with his result and after speaking with him a few times and look even better in the flesh.
  23. To the original OP, With regards to your crown, post healing various for patient to patient and does depend greatly on skin tone, this scabs from the tiny incisions are encouraged to be washed off around 10-12 days post op, once these are gone you will not have any signs of surgery albeit perhaps some slight redness that would look like a mild sunburn, this is worse on pale skin patients. As for propecia as you can see it generates a passionate response from the people who have had side effects. I personally and many thousands of patients have been taking effective to save their hair and improve the crown and would not think of stopping it.
  24. Welcome to the forum Dan, Thanks for the detailed account of your surgery with Dr Hasson, I have posted your photos as you asked me to. I look forward to seeing and hearing about your monthly updates. Good growth to you. Your graft count was 4814 follicular units transplanted 1098 singles, 3378 doubles and 338 3-4 hair grafts.
