  1. I insist that there is no such thing as a fox negative. A highly experienced FUE doc can handle all hair colors, skin types, angles, curly hair .... Unfortunately there are not very many fue only docs around who can pull it off.
  2. dr. Feller, I like your new avatar, quite funny. But seriously, we are seeing a tremendous number of bad bad strip scarring by European docs, as if nothing changed over the last 10 years. Maybe you have an opinion to why this is ?
  3. Is BHT possible technically : yes Does it grow out consistantly : n/a We are at this moment not a big fan of BHT for the exact reason Bill is mentioning : consistancy
  4. The good news is that you can have the old scar removed with the new scar which hopefully will turn out better. The bad news is that with each new strip removed there is an increase in scalp tension which may lead to a larger scar or a stretching scar... remember there is no free lunch in a hair transplant procedure ! Alternatively you can have a look at FUE megassesion. This can supply you with a lot of grafts and also soften the linear strip scar, all in 1 procedure.
  5. Results after 500 FUE, 10 months. The grafts were placed in the frontal area. We treated the rear area a couple of weeks ago with another 500 grafts.
  6. We had a woman who suffered from traction alopecia when she was young. We treated her with 2 sessions of about 500 grafts to close the empty bald space behind her hairline. Second session took place a few weeks ago so for now I will only be able to post the results of 1 session.
  7. The grafts are rock solid in place after 7 days. It is necessary IMHO to get them off as soon as possible after this period, even if it means washing with force.
  8. Put the 2500 in the frontal third and you will see quite a change. Spread them all over and you will hardly see an improvement.
  9. Dr. Jones in Oakville had a HT, he never told me who did it
  10. I dont want to point fingers at any clinic but let me say that FUE requires different graft handling that strip grafts. It seems that some ex strip clinics are still treating the FUE grafts like strip grafts. FUE grafts are much more delicate when small instruments are being used. Our docs have already discussed the routines of properly handling FUE grafts in front of their peers ... anyone that listens will know what to do.
  11. BTW, procedure was carried out last week, we will make updates in the future.
  12. Here is an example of a technically challenging situation. On the before picture you can see 2 whorls, one going clockwise the other one counter clockwise. Dr. De Reys reconstructed these whorls using 2800 FUE grafts (2 consecutive days), using an 0,8 mm instrument. We averaged 2,7 hairs per graft, very very high number. If I am not mistaken this has not been presented before using FUE only.
  13. Dr. Feller, I agree with you completely on this subject. And you know what, in a lot of European countries there are laws that forbid excactly this point ! Crazy isnt it ?
  14. I agree, FUE and mega FUE requires different skills and experience level and highly trained staff. Same for strip sessions and mega or giga strip sessions, you need special routines and experience and highly trained staff.
  15. Hi Jim, Last time we talked was in Vancouver ! Welcome back bud !
  16. I forwarded all pics, including donor to the patient. It is up to his discretion to post them or not. I can only say that his donor area will not be a showcase for FUT.
  17. Well, FUE is fairly new if you mean that it has become popular. I had my first megasession back in 2003. Before that the only person to perform FUE was dr. Woods, I believe he has been doing FUE for over 15 years now. Total number of grafts is something that evolves. Strip surgery did not start out with 3000 grafts, maybe the first years 500-1000 grafts where the norm. It takes time and experience to build up confidence and new technique/routines to achieve higher goals. Same goes for FUE. No doc will start his FUE carreer with 1000 grafts in a single day. We have used the same aproach in our clinic, going from small sessions back in 2004 to mega session nowadays. Time will tell if we will ever produce giga sessions, who knows ?
  18. Thanks Rise for your input, it means a lot to us and it could help other getting more information about FUE and FUE megasesions. Bart
  19. Oh yes, the website is www.haarweb.nl You wont find a lot of pics though. have fun
  20. BTW, Laser A., a huge hair transplant center (which produced my oversized smiley) has even bought the ex Gho clinic. They took all the staff and 'bought' themselves a lot of FUE expierence this way ...
  21. Dr. Feller, How did I come up with my assumption ? Well, in Holland there is a hair forum, more or less like this one. My guestimate is that about 50% from all the experience reports are about FUE, a lot of them comming from our institute in fact. Besides that almost all institutes that previously only did strip work are now also into FUE. Some are actually already pushing the 1500-2000 grafts a day. In fact, it is getting hard to find an institute around here that is not doing FUE. I hope this answers your question.
  22. In Belgium and Holland, most likely the centre for HT in Europe there are lots of institutes that offer FUE now. Even the strip die hards clinics have widened their offer with FUE. I would not be surprised if 50% or more of the procedures in Belgium and Holland are now done by FUE. In our institutes we feel FUE should always be the standard method of choice. Strip is not obsolete, it can always play a small role for those who want max out the donor area in which case both methods are needed.
  23. Donor area shockloss can happen, strip or FUE, although it must be said it is quite rare. Since we are using 0,7 mm FUE instruments we have never had a case of major donor shockloss. This is also a reason why we are not offering 3000+ FUE grafts in 1 session. At this moment we dont have enough experience to know wheter or not donor area shockloss becomes more of an issue when going for 4000 or more FUE in 1 session.
  24. I can only agree 100% with spex. Patient pay a lot of money for a lifelong result. They want the best possible result and by shaving the recipient area they give the doc and his team the best possible field of view. Shave it !
  25. I dont know who is the best, but here is a personal list of FUE docs with the most experience under the buckle Woods (FUE only) Ilter (FUE only) Cole (FUE only now) De Reys (FUE only) Jones - Feller (mix FUE and strip) Of course there might be others, please add to the list.
