  1. At eight weeks postop, the hair follicle are deeply rooted and could only be extracted through surgery. That said, I typically think it’s a good idea to let pimples dissipate and heal on their own rather than popping or harvesting blackheads. You could also try applying something like tend skin to see if that doesn’t help to clear the area without having to remove them yourself. All the best, Rahal Hair Transplant.
  2. For starters, I think it is always advisable to follow your doctors post-op instructions. That said, In my opinion it’s safe to start doing some very light weight lifting and exercising after approximately 10 days. But when you are lifting, use common sense. Don’t do any exercises or a lift any weights that causes any strain. For example, bench pressing can cause strain in the donor area so it may be better to do alternative chest exercises that don’t involve putting your head on a bench or cause the donor area any discomfort. Best wishes, Rahal Hair Transplant
  3. A little bit of dandruff will not effect your hair transplant progress or growth. Just be sure to follow your doctor’s postop instructions and in most cases, everything will be fine. New growth should begin approximately 3 to 5 months after surgery and will continue up until 12 to 18 months when your hair transplant is fully mature and your true results can be seen. Best wishes, Rahal Hair Transplant
  4. Many prospective patients end up choosing a hair transplant clinic based strictly on location and price when those are in fact the last criteria that should be used in determining who to go to. In fact, prospective patients should always consider traveling and undergoing surgery with a clinic that has a proven track record of producing outstanding results consistently, even if they are more expensive than a local, less expensive clinic that doesn’t have a stellar reputation. Best wishes, Rahal Hair Transplant
  5. The downside of a hair transplant is that it rarely re-creates “true density”. In other words, natural hair density may be approximately 80 to 90 FU/cm2 while a hair transplant surgeon may only re-create half of that. This is because even at only 50% density, one’s hair will appear thick and natural looking with only a mild appearance of thinning under harsh lighting. Re-creating true density isn’t always possible because donor hair is limited and there’s usually a larger balding area to cover. That said, hair will always appear much thinner when wet. It also can appear thinner when hair is disheveled, not brushed and under harsh lighting. Best wishes, Rahal Hair Transplant
  6. SLA, While there are different techniques in making recipient area incisions, follicular units are typically angled and placed in the same direction as the patient's natural hair in order to mimic nature and appear more natural. Without seeing examples of what you're referring to, I would imagine any difference you are seeing in the angles and direction of hair has more to do with the patient's physiology or even their hairstyle. Best Regards, Rahal Hair Transplant
  7. Win88, While most hair transplant patients experience a good deal of growth at six months postop, every patient is different. Moreover, subsequent hair transplants can grow in slower than previous ones. Believe it or not, because each doctor possesses their own unique technique, the overall growth process and timeline can be impacted by the hair transplant clinic, I believe you said you were going to speak with your surgeon. What was their response? Also, I recommend posting some photos of your hair before from your second procedure and now as we will be able to give you some better feedback. Best wishes, Rahal Hair Transplant
  8. To be honest, I’m surprised to hear that SMP is not giving you the aesthetic improvement in the donor area that you’re looking for. Even if you wore your hair longer, it should still make a significant difference if done right. Perhaps if you show us some photos, we can get a better idea of what you’re experiencing. Best Wishes, Rahal Hair Transplant
  9. There are definitely several objective criterion that can be used to determine whether a particular hair transplant surgeon can be considered one of the best. However because there are many particulars, situations and variables, patients typically evaluate a surgeon's ability and whether or not they're the "best" not just on their technical skill, experience and artistry, but also on whether or not they have the ability to meet their individual needs. For an example, if you are experiencing more hair loss in the front, you might want to consider undergoing surgery with a hairline specialist. If you need as much hair moved from the sides and back of the scalp to the top at one time, you may want to go to a megasessions specialist. Now in many cases, specialties will overlap. As an example, Dr. Rahal is worldly renowned for both exceptional hairlines and megasessions. I recommend taking your time, rsearching the procedure, surgeons and then narrow it down and make your choice by consulting with a few that impress you the most. Best wishes, Rahal Hair Transplant
  10. In my opinion, the hairline is the most important and crucial part of the hair transplant design. Thus, if one feels they need to grow the hair transplant out to cover the hairline, then it's very likely a good idea to undergo a second touch-up or repair procedure to refine the existing hairline to make it much more thick and natural looking. Best wishes, Rahai Hair Transplant
  11. Though it is often recommended to wait about a week or two to begin smoking cigarettes or marijuana, many hair transplant patients have done it anyway without adversely affecting the healing process, growth or the overall results. In general, if you follow the principles of "to err on the side of caution" and "everything in moderation", you should be ok. Best wishes, Rahal Hair Transplant.
  12. TorontoMan, i’ve sent you a PM so we can coordinate the details. Congrats once again. RahalHairTransplant
  13. TorontoMan, Thank you for posting and sharing a detailed account of your hair transplant procedure and journey with Dr. Rahal. Your results look outstanding. I bet you’re pretty ecstatic? I’d love to see some more detailed photos showing a close-up of the hairline if you are able to do that. Dr. Rahal is exceptional at creating dense and natural looking hairlines and I’m sure close-ups will help others truly appreciate your result. Congratulations again and I look forward to seeing more photos. Best wishes, Rahal Hair Transplant
  14. Melvin, I will check to see if we have any immediately post-op photos. In the meantime, the diagram above does at least show the areas that were transplanted. Thanks for your interest. Rahal Hair Transplant
  15. Thanks for everyone’s feedback. We will also be presenting a video in the next couple of days. Stay tuned 🙂. Rahal Hair Transplant
  16. Patient History This patient is 37 years old and started experiencing hair loss at 26 years of age. He underwent a previous FUT / strip procedure with a different clinic in Montreal in 2011 giving him approximately 1000 grafts to the frontal zones. On the maternal side, men experienced advanced thinning classified as high as a NW6. Hair Loss Medication The patient has tried finasteride for approximately 1 year but stopped due to side effects. He has been using Rogaine (minoxidil) for approximately 5 to 6 years and has undergone 4 PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatments with Dr. Rahal between 0 and 16 months. 17. Well you’ve already had your first hair transplant so that means some of the hair that’s been transplanted is permanent. The more natural hair you lose, the more you’ll be left with only the transplanted hair. As for whether or not you can wait for a 2nd hair transplant is up to you. Hair loss is unpredictable so nobody can tell you how much additional hair you’re going to lose. It’s also difficult to tell from the pictures you posted of the results how much thinning you have in the crown and mid scalp area. While the hairline can certainly be improved upon, lowered and made more youthful looking, how low we can take it will largely depends on hair needed to fill in the thinning areas both now and in the future. Therefore, future concerns of hair loss must be considered. That said, you can always choose to get a hair transplant now or wait but it’s important to try to get your existing natural hair loss under control by using non-surgical treatments if possible. 18. Hi there, There are actually some temporary border requirements when traveling from Canada to the US and from the US to Canada. Based on travel international law, there are a lot of restrictions based on various conditions. In most cases, you’ll be able to travel from and return to Canada if you’re a Canadian citizen. Residents of the US may also travel to Canada and back to the US under certain conditions/restrictions. That said, I think you’ll find the below website helpful as it asks you specific questions and provides you with answers based on your specific situation. https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid?utm_campaign=gac-amc-travelborder-part2-21-22&utm_medium=sem&utm_source=ggl&utm_content=ad-text-en&utm_term=canada travel requirements&adv=2122-147654&id_campaign=14643232228&id_source=125810505023&id_content=545679435751&gclid=CjwKCAiAksyNBhAPEiwAlDBeLLs5LcImcvZeDJmjjvet8k0LL2NfD9hTzIftcKxiDYQXxzwCOSTVghoCTWEQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds I hope this helps Rahal Hair Transplant
  19. Now that I look at the photos more closely, it’s possible that it might just be remaining scabs holding on and not anything abnormal. It’s honestly hard to tell. It’s not abnormal that at eight days postop, you have remaining crusts/scabs from the procedure. It’s also very typical for them to itch or become a bit irritating during this stage. Some people apply aloe vera or other types of topicals to aid with this phase of the healing process. But like I said above, it could be something else like folliculitis so I do strongly suggest that you consult your physician. Rahal Hair Transplant.
  20. While members of this forum can give you general advice, only a doctor can give you medical advice. I highly suggest consulting your hair transplant surgeon regarding what may be going on with your scalp. That said, it might be a case of folliculitis. Again, I suggest consulting your hair surgeon and then coming back and letting us know what is happening. Rahal Hair Transplant
  21. Many patients who fly in for hair transplant surgery will travel home within the next day or two after the procedure. In the rare even if a complication that requires the care of a physician, patients often go to a local doctor under the advice of their surgeon. That said, it’s never a bad idea to stay near the clinic longer in the even if an issue. Rahal Hair Transplant
  22. Don’t worry. New hair growth after FUE typically only starts to grow between 3 to 5 months post-op. Even then, most of the new hair typically starts by growing thin and colorless. Thus, you may be able to feel the new hairs before you start seeing them. The new hair will take up to 12 to 18 months to grow, thicken, darken and mature. Rahal Hair Transplant
  23. Have you stabilized your hair loss? What are your goals? What’s your family history look like in terms of hair loss? Assuming you want to lower your hairline and thicken everything up I’d say between 3000 and 4000 to be safe. That said, the doctor would have to evaluate you and give you a real professional opinion. My estimate is based on looking at the photos only and my own personal experience and opinion. Rahal Hair Transplant
  24. Stabilizing your hair loss is typically a good idea prior to undergoing hair transplant surgery however, some people just aren’t able to no matter what nonsurgical treatments they try. Assuming that nonsurgical treatment don’t work, you may be headed towards a Norwood 5 to Norwood 6 classification of hair loss. Whether or not you’re a good candidate for hair transplant surgery will depend largely on your donor area and your goals. If your goal is to re-create a full head of hair, you are likely not a candidate. If your goal is to restore as much hair as possible to the balding/bald areas that will eventually develop & recreate a thin but natural look, then you may be a candidate. I suggest consulting with a few expert physicians to discuss your situation and options. Rahal Hair Transplant
  25. By the photos alone you look like a decent candidate for FUE. You mention thin spots that I can see in the photos but it also appears like you have pretty thick hair. More background an evening in personalization might be more helpful in determining candidacy in particular to rule out any other conditions that may cause increased patchy hair loss in the donor area, etc. It may just be the way your hair sits naturally but it’s always good to rule out any other conditions that may create problems down the road for your long-term hair restoration goals.
