  4. Mike12, Dr. Rahal shouldn’t be labeled as more aggressive, but he will review your situation in person if possible, and make the appropriate recommendation based on many factors including your age, current and future hair loss, hair quality etc. Dr. Simmons is a great doc as well and meeting both in person and then deciding would be the best route to take.

  19. Because this was a repair case, as the patient received some pluggy work in the past (as you can see from the pre-operative images below). The first concern was fixing the hairline area to look more natural. After discussion with this patient it was mutually decided not to work on the forelock area. This was a conscious decision by the patient and he elected not to do the forelock area for certain reasons. The main point is that the patient lost hair in areas not transplanted due to the natural progression of hair loss. This is not necessarily the fault of surgery. The risks were explained and do occur. The forelock area is easily correctable by adding more grafts to this area. We have discussed with him a plan of action on the phone and have yet to hear from him. We now see that he has taken his case public, so we wanted to issue a response to this recent posting.
  20. Severn, We normally shave a larger area in anticipation of a certain size donor strip. Sometimes a patient has good laxity/density, therefore we are able to take a smaller donor strip. It's best to shave the area prior to surgery as opposed to shaving a bit more if needed. Also we shave a margin around the donor area to keep any hairs out of the sutures when we are closing the incision.
  21. This patient received a total of 6282 grafts over 2 sessions. His first procedure of 3042 grafts worked on re-establishing his frontal zones while the second session of 3240 grafts worked on his crown/vertex area exclusively.
