  1. Hey Anant! It looks like you are going to have some great results!great hairline and great density! everything looks right on schedule, look for those transplanted hairs to shed in the next couple of weeks and on to the toughest part, the waiting game. It looks like you are having a little shockloss in the donor area? Is that true or just the pic? If so, I have that going on as well and is pretty normal, will grow back in a few months as well. Hang in there and once again you will have a nice head of hair in the near future!
  2. In my case visually it isn' visible unless you use a microscope, but to the touch there are defiantely a bunch of short stubble, like I said could be new growth or shocked hair coming back but could also be some of the transplanted hairs just sitting there. On my last HT I had a couple of hairs that never fell out and stayed as stubble for a few months then they finally grew. The difference this time is I cannot really see this stubble, its thinner and not as dark as my stubble from my last HT. Who knows, but it's better than feeling a bald area!
  3. dhuge, I understand what you are saying and goin through. I still think the best thing for u to do is stay on the meds and have a good routine with nizoral and wait a year to see where you are. I just would hate to see you rush into another procedure, even a small one until you see how the propecia is working. By reading other stories and seeing the results I wish I could go back and just have one or 2 megasessions instead of 4 HT's. I think the FUE procedure should be done when you have stopped losing hair or in people's cases like myself have had the HT's and have all HT hair on top. Then FUE could be good to fill in those small areas up front. And when looking at your hair it is thinning, not bald. To get another HT on the rest of your hair could cause some good shockloss. And I didn't have as much hair as you in my midscalp before my last HT and I still had some extensive shockloss. Give the meds a good year or more. Just my two cents from my own experience
  4. I have kinda the same thing in a way. Only been a month and a couple of weeks but when I run my hand over the top of my head(the midscalp area) where I had my last HT I feel a few really short hairs, like stubble. Can't really see them but I can feel them, they are either new growth or some of my shockloss hairs coming back, but either way I can feel all those short stubble of hairs. Maybe it's my imagination and these are just transplanted hairs that never fell out and haven't grown yet. Either way it does sound like the early stages of growtth for u. congrats!
  5. I agree with Jakevig here. I started losing my hair in my early 20's and it was devastating! Tried rogaine for awhile and shaved my head and held out until I was 27 for a HT. Was glad I held out that long to see how my hair would most likely end up. My hair has been steady since then due to propecia and have attacked my problem with my HT's since. At the same time I think Dhuge should wait a bit just in the persective you don't want to go thru your donor supply at such an early age without seeing how your hair will end up. But the counseling thing is a little extreme as of yet. He's going thru what I and a lot of others on here have and it is plain hard and you do want to just turn it around and have your hair back.
  6. I know in my case you need to have good scalp elasticity to get that many grafts, mine wasn't that great, leaving me the option of only getting a little less than 2000 this last time
  7. I think it's a case by case issue. In Troy's case I don't see a huge difference from 4 to 8 months, but I think the temples are the biggest difference from pre HT to now. I know in my last HT it was around 4 months I started to see noticeable differences all the way to about 9 months or so. At that point I'm sure there was still some growth just not the sprouting I saw in that 5 month period. Hang in there Dhuge, and I don't think Troy was saying that everyone doesn't see much growth after 4 months, just in his case
  8. no, the transplanted hair is taken from the back of your head and that hair in not susceptible to DHT, therefore is permanent without the use of propecia. people use propecia to help keep existing hair on the top and slow down and curtail hairloss
  9. does Dr. keene suggest using rogaine for a few months post HT to help with growing and then wean off of it if you don't wish to keep up the routine?
  10. Hey Gorpy, what is Keene's directions to slowly wean off of rogaine?
  11. he closed my scar with sutures not staples and took them out after around 9 days post op. I had some shock loss around the donor scar but it grew back after around 5-6 months. After my last HT the scar is a nice one, but once again I have some shock loss in the same area. TRhe shock loss around the scar just sometimes happens, for some reason I am a lucky one who gets it, but I know in afew months that will grow back.
  12. I have had 2 procedures with him, last one at end of June. He uses very small blades and dense packs. You can look at my weblog and see his work. He has done wonders for my hairline and am one month post op of procedure 2 for the mid scalp area to crown. My scalp laxity wasn't the greatest this last procedure so he was only able to get around 1700 or so grafts but they are very dense packed. He is a very confident doctor(not cocky) and is a straight shooter. I don't believe he does huge mega sessions but does do sessions in the 2000's and usually dense packs. He is quite the perfectionist and uses his artistic abilities quite well. From where I came from before his procedure to where I am is night and day. I felt very comfortable with him, but it is always up to the individual. He uses all the newest techniques and blades, and I healed very fast and am looking forward to my results from this last procedure. I will post more pics as the transformation continues.
  13. cool, so applying rogaine for a month or so will be ok on the existing hairs, and might speed up some growth?
  14. Janna, only thing I worry about using rogaine to jumpstart the new hairs is I don't want my existing hairs to get hooked on the rogaine and fall out when I stop using it. I don't want to take it consistently as it is a messy regimen that I don't wish to do for life. Is it ok to use for a month or two without worry of native hair getting hooked on it? and if it is, how often should u use it? once a day or twice? thanks
  15. if you don't mind me asking, what did the nioxin follicle booster do for you?
  16. I remember with my last HT I didn't notice improvement until about 5 months or so, but my wife said I looked much better after 4 months, hard to tell yourself when you look at your head everyday. But others seem to notice sooner than yourself, I just want to get back to pre op hair, and hopefully like last time that will be in about a month or so
  17. I too am just over a month and all my transplanted hairs are long gone for the time. Suffered some shock loss to the existing hair and look worse than I did pre op at the time. Cannot wait to get past this stage and get some hair growing. I know on my last HT I was worse looking until about month 2 or so when I started to look like myself pre op. Then in months 3 to 4 slowly started seeing some growth. Believe my shockloss is all about done as am not finding all those hairs in myhand when I shower anymore.
  18. Nizoral isn't going to grow you hair or anything, it is just a good shampoo that claims to cleanse your scalp of excess DHT. Nothing would really happen if you stopped taking it, it is just a good scalp cleanser
  19. thanks hairbank for all your advice and support, I remember last time I looked worse than before my HT until a little after 2 months then i started to look like I did before so hopefully that will happen again this time and I only have another month or so. Thanks again man
  20. Am now at just a little over a month out and this is the hard time. been thru it before last year but always makes you a little down. Had shockloss to the midscalp where I had some hair before, not much, but some. And there is basically nothing there right now because whateer didn't go thru shockloss was buzzed really short and can barely be seen. This just makes it hard to apply toppik or any concealer since before when I had some hair there it made it look good. Think the shockloss has curtailed pretty much, not finding a ton of hair in my hands when I shower, just one here and there which is pretty normal. I just hate this part beacause I look so much worse than I did before, wish another month or so would fly back to get back to where I was before this last HT. When all the scabs did fall off and I could see all the grafts looks really good and was very dense packed. But am trying to stay positive and see this as the next step to getting a fuller head of hair. I have some shock loss around the donar strip on the left side just like I did last time as well so I have to keep my hair a little longer then I like to. Overall though am impressed with Dr. Alexander's ability to dense pack so good, and just have to keep in mind that is why I had some shockloss. Chin up!!
  21. k, thanks. I think for now will stick with my multivitamin
  22. currently I am taking a daily multivitamin that contains 1333% of your daily intake of vitamin E but also have some Vitamin E pills to help with the healing of my donor scar. Is this too much Vitamin E or does it even matter?
  23. Thanks Hairbank, ya when I checked my scar two weeks ago or so didn't see any of this patch of hairloss below the scar and then haven't really looked at the scar until yesterday and noticed it on the left side of my head, weird. I had it with my last HT and I think at around 6-8 months it had started to grow back in, just sucks for that period cause have to keep my hair longer than I like to try and cover it. Tried that scarzone today on a section and it's hard to put in since I can't really see where my scar is and when i did it got all in my hair, so not sure if I want to try and keep that up. I bought some Vitamin E which I read is good for scar healing, so will just pop the pill instead and see how that works.
  24. 4 dollars a graft is pretty accurate, and I cna tell you from personal experience sperm count does not go down!lol
  25. Johnnie, did scarzone work as good on the scar as maderma? and what do u use the emu oil for and how?
