  1. Totally normal. A lot of hairs will be attached to the little scab, everything is nice and secure by two weeks out. Some of the hairs might even grow for a little while but eventually will fall out. You are experiencing the normal shed at this point.
  2. jackisback, scratching your head can definately not help, and maybe cutting your hair short and getting back on the foam will help in two ways. First it will allow you to actually get to your scalp easier with a higher effective rogaine, and secondly and most important in my own use, no more itching! The foam is great as that was my main draw back to the liquid, the itching and the greasy feel. I have had neither with the foam
  3. I am not sure Jack, but that could be an issue. My crown area is smooth and little hair is there so the foam is very easy, but I could see how the foam could be harder to use when going thru hair.
  4. Thank you Cousin It, Only being two weeks into using it I obviously haven't seen anything yet, but since it is so easy to use and there is no irritation and it dries so fast it is not a hard regiment to follow. Unlike the liquid form that irritated me badly and also stayed greasy on my head for hours. I just put on the foam a half an hour ago and it is dry now. I barely have to use much either, just a small cotton ball size each use covers the area nicely! keep in touch with updates for me, thanks man
  5. thanks hairbank, appreciate it. Since my last HT filled in my midscalp very nicely it has had a severe effect on my crown, making it stick out even worse! . Maybe the rogaine will do something if not I just want to get some hair on that smooth surface, if anything to help my hair in the midscalp cover the crown area even better without it looking like a combover.
  6. Thanks Bill I will do that but am also trying to find others who have kinda similar crown loss as myself and have found a couple of pics that state the number of grafts but also want to read about their experience. I think you will have a nice crown by the way and goes more to what I hope to maybe accomplish at some point. I don't want to use thousands of grafts on my crown, just enough to make it look decent, I just hate the smooth crown look I have now. I have a spot about two quarters(literally) from the top to the bottom of it and just a little bit wider than a quarter(yes I measureds it with a couple of spare quarters I had nearby) I have seen someone who only had 500 grafts put into a similar area as mine that looked good and that is what I would hope for. My scalp laxity is pretty strained as of now and my donor supply is getting lower so just want a smaller procedure if it would do the trick. Like I said don't want it as thick as the rest of my hair, just some thinning coverage would suffice. Am currently two weeks into trying out the rogaine foam and so far have had no side effects and isn't greasy at all, and dries pretty fast! I want to see if that could help grow some hair on the spot but not sure if it will. How long does it take to usually see any response from rogaine foam? and will I see some shedding anytime? thanks in advance!
  7. Have started rogaine foam and been on it for about two weeks. Have had no bad side effects like itching and irritation so might stick to it for awhile. Anyone know about how long it takes to see if you respond to it? And do you sometimes have a shed first? and about when does this happen? any info on this topic would be great! thanks in advance!
  8. been searching around on here and have only found a couple of photo albums that show crown work and how many grafts were put into the crown. I have a bald crown area about two quarters in size, not huge, but still a bald spot. Just wanted to see some others with a similar bald spot as mine and what i would need to get it filled in. granted I don't even care if it is thick and super dense, I just want some hair in there so it doesn't stick out. Any help on finding some more discussions and crown work photos would be great! Thanks!

  10. looks great man! Definately well on track. being on the same time frame as you basically we are pretty even so far. Look forward to some more growth but more thickening of the hairs than anything now
  11. I have got to say that I would itch like crazy while on the liguid version of rogaine, but have been on the foam for about two weeks and the itching has completely stopped! To me it dries much faster and is not nearly as greasy as the liquid. It takes about 10 seconds to put on my bald spot and dries very fast where as the liquid would take hours to dry! Will stick with it awhile and see if it can't help my bald spot some.
  12. Bill, I had all of the same concerns as you as my wife and I were going to try and have a baby last spring, I did a lot of research as did my wife and the only thing we came to is that she shouldn't handle or touch my propecia. There was one article that did say it was totally fine to conceive while on propecia. And I was concerned because I did read on the internet that guys were complaining of reduced sperm count, but there was no credible evidence that it was related to the drug. Well, low and behold probably a week or two after trying my wife became pregnant and we are expecting our first child, a girl, in mid March. The only thing I am wondering is that we are having a girl and Laughter's Medicne had a girl as well....hmmm, maybe the drug increases the chance of having a girl? I wonder if they have done a study on the sex of the baby while the man was on propecia?? Anyways, it's all good Bill!!
  13. I experienced some pretty good shock loss after my last two HT's for sure. It usually started with the shedding of the transplanted grafts around 2weeks post op and then I would see quite a bit of shock loss in the shower every night until about the 2 to 2 1/2 month period where it slowed down and I started seeing some regrowth at 3 months. At almost 5 months post op my midscalp area looks great and continues to thicken each day. One thing I am glad about if I do get one more smaller session for my crown is there is no hair there to be shocked out!
  14. Hey slick! I think it is looking really good, even wet and spiked it doesn't look bad at all. Most guys you see with spiked hair with gel you can see their scalp, but I wouldn't think you were looking too thin at all, especially with the blond hair. Congrats and it looks really good laying flat. I would be happy if I was in your shoes!
  15. Bank- I probably have a little bit larger than a half dollar sized bald spot but can usuall put some toppik on it to make it look just thin. I don't like putting too much on it and having it look powderey(word?spelling?) but I sprinkle just a bit on it so it isn't shiny. So possibly if the rogaine doesn't work, and after I wait a year or so, I would consider a smaller session to just get that thin look without toppik. But I'm sure then that I will see something else to work on! It doesn't help that I am a perfectionist, stupid type A personality!lol
  16. Bill, kinda funny cause I am envious of that swirl you got, lol! It is all relative and I told myself going into this last HT it would be my last and I could live with a small bald crown but now am not so sure and will have to see in a few months if it is something I could possibly look into. But need to wait for this to fully grow in as well, still believe will get thicker as well as grow more in towards the back where I still feel some stubble. But damn this greed!
  17. Just wanted to throw my two cents out about hair greed and what I am feeling right now. Had my last HT at the end of June and it's coming in great in the midscalp to top of crown area, and put this together with my last HT I have a great hairline to midscalp with only a bald spot on the crown, and not a huge one at that. I thought I would be ok with it but now that I see how well the rest of my hair looks that bald spot gets on my nerves and I want it gone! Don't get me wrong I know without my last two HT's from a great doctor I would be pretty much a NW5 by now and am greatly happy about not being. But at the same time I have seen what a good doc can do for you and want that little bald spot taken care of now. I have actually just started taking rogaine again to see if that can do anything about the spot, but if not I am seriously considering seeing if I can get one more smaller session to fill in the crown area, at least put some hair in there as it is completely smooth right now. I wouldn't even care if it wasn't a super thick crown, just some hair there that makes it not look smooth and shiny. Of course the trouble I run into is that my scalp elasticity is pretty tight as of right now. But just wanted to share my hair greed story and thoughts. But it's so true the more you get the more you want, and coming this far I want full restoration.

  19. Robert! Good to see you back again and with a new title, very impressive!! Anyways, was wondering if there is a difference between the two nizorals in proven effectiveness with propecia and minoxidil?? I use the 1% just because it's easier to get and OTC. Is there somewhere you can get the 2% OTC or cheap?? thanks man
  20. at three months I started getting those thin and wispy hairs and now at 4 months plus the hairs are getting thicker and darker. I still feel some more stubble here and there, especially towards the back(top of crown) But my midscalp has kicked in nicely and appears to be getting thicker and growing in more each week, so you are on the rigth track for sure!
  21. I was wondering besides it being a foam what are the differences? I know two main reasons I stopped using the original was it felt really greasy for a long time and that it made me itch like crazy! I use a little toppik in my crown and was wondering if the foam dries up really quick and doesn't leave your scalp and hair greasy?? Also how is it with the itching part?? thanks!
  22. Bill, will try and take a pick of the crown area in the next few days
  23. Thanks guys, appreciate all the feedback. In those pics I highlighted an area that had toppik on it. I have a spot a little larger than a Half dollar sized bald spot towards the back that I had no work done into. I am going to wait for the new growth to take off and get stronger and longer so I can comb it over this area. If I still don't feel good about it I will see in a year or so what my options are. For now I use a little bit of toppik to cover it.It's the top area of the crown that I had work done to that isn't taking off like the rest. But thanks to the reassurance of you guys I will wait a few more months before I get too frazzled over it. I can feel quite a bit of stubble towards the crown area so hopefully will see that growth soon. Got to say though that my midscalp is growing like mad now! I can comb it back and is getting really thick! Just want that last little bit towards the crown to join it.
  24. good part is since it's in the back I don't really look every day, too damn hard, lol! I went to Dr. Alexander in Phoenix and recently moved back to the valley of the sun(beautiful 78 degree day today!) I had about 1700 grafts to the midscalp and part of the crown, you can see pics on my weblog. After this grows in complete I will have a small bald spot on my crown. My skin was too tight to fill in all the crown but maybe in a year or two I will get the rest of the crown done. But if I am left with a small bald spot and the rest is good and thick I will be happy rigght now( I know that damn hair greed will show it's ugly face though) I am mostly looking forward to the hair near the crown to kick in and grow well so I can comb it back and cover up the bald spot pretty good. Think I will go grab some more msm today. I used it for awhile but ran out.
  25. thanks Bill, ya I pretty much expect that and hope for that, but the reassurance is always nice! Your last HT looks amazing man! Haven't been on here much lately due to moving but man you're going to have a buttload of hair!! I guess it's just annoying to see a bunch of hair taking off and getting damn ingrown hairs and no growth towards the back as of yet. any suggestions to help in the speeding up of growth??
