  1. Hi Spanker, thanks for your comment. Yes, the patient had a prior FUT procedure in 2006 in a French clinic. You can see below the implanted hair in his sides. Kind Regards, Jean Devroye
  2. PATIENT'S DETAILS ✓ 29 years old, NW IIIv, losing hair since the age of 21, with a hair loss history in his family. ✓ Taking Minoxidil 5%, once per day. ✓ Thin hair. ✓ Fragile follicular units. ✓ Normal % of hair in telogen phase. RECOMMENDED TREATMENT The patient wanted a FUE surgery, but based on his excellent donor density and large recipient area to be covered I suggested him to undergo a FUT, transplanting the maximum number of follicular units in one, single session, in order to restore patient’s temple corners, upper mid-scalp and crown. Finally, the density shown is natural and homogeneous and the patient is very satisfied about the results he has obtained 10 months after the surgery. If his hair loss continue, he will need to consider a second session to complete the work. SURGERY DETAILS ✓ 3155 grafts ✓ Technique: FUT ✓ Incisions: 30-35/cm2, performed by Dr. Devroye ✓ Grafts Breakdown: ☞ 312 Single FUT grafts ☞ 1587 Double FUT grafts ☞ 913 Triple FUT grafts ☞ 343 Quadruple FUT grafts ✓ Total number of Hair: 7597 ✓ Average Hair/Graft: 2.40 Dr. Jean Devroye
  3. This 44-year-old patient wanted to cover the anterior part of his baldness and eventually the vertex. A FUT procedure allowed us to reach the following figures: 3133 grafts for 6545 hairs. Here are the details: FUT1: 491 FUT2: 1915 FUT3: 684 FUT4: 43 The result obtained is dense and natural. We will of course have to complete this work someday depending on the evolution of the patient’s baldness.
  4. This 29-year-old patient had a Norwood 6 alopecia. The various treatments were not effective anymore. A FUT hair transplant was performed in 2015. Number of grafts: 5033 Number of hairs: 10306 Distribution 1h: 957 2h: 3016 3h: 923 4h: 137 Pictures were taken by the patients and are not of an excellent quality, but they clearly show the amazing improvement obtained in only one surgery.
  5. The patient received – in two surgeries – the equivalent of 800 hairs, including pubic hairs. Most of the grafts were extracted from the pubis, which gives a very natural aspect to the final result. Extractions were performed through the FUE technique with the WAW Hybrid Trumpet Punch.
  6. This is a very good example of a baldness treated in only one surgery with the FUT technique. The patient was transplanted 3930 grafts for 8700 hairs, that is to say 2.27 hairs pro graft (FUT1 526 - FUT2 2180 - FUT3 1086 - FUT4 134). Pictures speak for themselves. The aspect is very natural and a good density has been obtained.
  7. Who said a FUE procedure provides less good results than a FUT procedure? This patient received 4279 grafts for 9235 hairs in September 2015, a little more than a year ago. FUE1: 479 FUE2: 2673 FUE3: 1098 FUE4: 29 I used my WAW system, which is now widely used in the sphere of FUE. It consists of a very precise pedal that enables to control the movement of a punch that I also designed myself. Its name is the Hybrid Trumpet Punch – hybrid because this is a mix between a sharp and a blunt punch, and trumpet because it has the shape of a trumpet. The main advantage is to reduce substantially the number of damaged or transected hair, and thus to raise the quality of the procedure. This system is now used worldwide and several dozens of surgeons or centres are already using it. If you are interested, visit www.devroyeinstruments.com as well as our Youtube channel. The result met our expectations. Best wishes Dr Jean Devroye
  8. This 73-years-old patient, who was 62 at the time of the first surgery, gives a good example of the way a hair transplant evolves with time. He was operated the first time in 2005 and the second time ten years later. The hair has evolved, is less thick and got whiter, but the global result is still absolutely satisfying. This is very encouraging regarding the durability of hair transplants. The high number of grafts (6500 in total) enabled us to cover the entire bald area. Regarding the technique, we did two FUT procedures: • 2598 grafts for 7250 hairs for the first one; • 3943 grafts for 8636 hairs for the second one.
  9. This 26-year-old patient underwent a FUT four years ago. Big plugs placed too far forward and covering the temples were bothering him since then. He has thus decided to proceed in several steps. On the one hand, we had to remove the grafts on the temples. One year ago, we removed as many grafts from the temples as possible. One week later, a 1489 FUE hair transplant was performed. The distribution was FUE1: 471 FUE2: 565 FUE3: 426 FUE4: 27 The result after one year has substantially improved but is still not perfect. There are some big plugs left that could not be removed. Another grafts removal will be scheduled soon.
  10. Hello everyone, I am sending pictures of the patient after one year postop showing the great evolution! Kind regards, Dr Jean Devroye
  11. After seeing the beautiful results of long hair FUT procedures obtained by my Brazilian colleagues – such as Dr Marcello Pitchon, Dr Ricardo Lemoset, Dr Clerisvaldo Almeida Souza – during a recent meeting in Brazil, I also decided to start performing long hair FUT procedures. It consists in transplanting follicular units of which hair is 4 to 5 cm long. This is an amazing technique that immediately shows the final result. This does not stop the extemporaneous result from deteriorating in the upcoming months as the grafted hair can fall before growing back. The main advantage is the possibility to see the result immediately, and thus to manage better the hair distribution. You must indeed understand that the difficulty for hair surgeons is often to foresee and thus to manage optimally the graft distribution. The grafts contain more or less hair and their distribution can be different according to other factors, such as colour, diameter and hair thickness. The transplant of long hair essentially takes place through the FUT technique. Some FUE trials are performed with punches that have a slit. Dr Boaventura has recently submitted an article in this regard. I am right on track to shortly offer for sale modified punches that will indeed enable to perform long hair FUE with very little aggressive hybrid punches. This will probably be designed for minor hair transplants, but this will enable to perform FUE procedures absolutely undetectable. What struck me with the Brazilian examples – and I could notice that this was also the case for my patient – is the extraordinary healing. The postoperative pictures were taken the day after the patient’s surgery and look more like a situation after one week. 2788 FUE grafts, 5166 hairs 1h: 835 – 2h: 1577 – 3h: 327 – 4h: 49 In short, that is a very efficient technique that I now perform very often.
  12. Unfortunately the pictures are not very good. The patient took them. Here is the number of grafts: 4089 for
8700 hair. Details: 1h: 652, 2h: 2392, 3h: 416, 4h: 129 Thanks to the quantity of the grafts quite important it was possible to cover all the anterior area and also the crown even if we did not look after a maximal density. Next step*: complete the crown area.
  13. This is a young patient of 24 years old. He began to lose his hair aroung 19. The heredity comes from the maternal side. He had two interventions with the FUT technique. One in July 2014 and the other one in June 2015. Here are the details of the first one*: 608 FUT1, 2119 FUT2, 892 FUT3 and 103 FUT4 for an amount of 7934 hair, so 2,13 hair/graft. And find here the details of the second surgery*; 2381 grafts*:377 FUT1, 1372 FUT2, 568 FUT3 and 64 FUT4 for an amount of 5081 hair. So 2,13 hair/graft too. The total amount represents 6103 grafts for 13015 hair. The cover was very wide*: the anterior area as the crown area.
  14. Here is a case of a correction that would be a perfect example to me. The patient has already been operated in England when he was 24. He is now 50 years old. He is suffering from this unnatural aspect since years because of the use of some big plugs of 4mm diameter which gave the classical hair aspect in circle with lots of space between them with a bad orientation. So, the work consisted in transfering grafts very precisely in the middle of these plugs, some grafts of a small diameter, to rebuild entirely the anterior line and to move lightly forward the anterior line in an irregular way. The result is quite amazing. The mass of hair previously grafted is included in the new hairstyle. Here are the details of the FUT intervention: 3749 grafts Number of hair : 7521 Number of follicles : 3749 1hair : 852, 2hair: 2063, 3hair: 793, 4hair: 41 and 5hair: 0. The patient is very glad with the result. That’s what he said : «*I am happy that the work you did has greatly improved the look of the original poor transplants. Thank you so much to you and your team. It has made a big diff?rence to my confidence. »
  15. Patient of 42 years old. He received 3178 grafts FUE in two days. The details of the surgery*: First day*: 1h*: 125, 2h*: 559, 3h*: 755, 4h*: 196 Number of grafts*: 1635 Number of hair*: 4292 Second day*: 1h*: 255, 2h*: 641, 3h*: 538, 4h*: 109 Number of grafts*: 1543 Number of hair*: 3587 Total*: Number of grafts*: 3178 Number of hair*: 7879 We have decided to fill in the biggest area possible beginning with the front hairline until the area of the crown. Only a small part of the crown has not been covered. It is a perfect example to show how to have a good coverage with a limited number of grafts. My aim is often the following one: cover a maximal area with a density maybe not maximal but optimum.
  16. Thank you very much for your comment, David! Kind regards, Dr Jean Devroye
  17. The patient was 34 years old. As he was wearing long hair he has opted for the FUT technique. Thanks to the good elasticity of his donor area we have achieved a number of grafts of 3907. The number of hair was of 8681. Here are the details of the surgery*: 544 FUT1, 2152 FUT2, 1011 FUT3 and 200 FUT4. After ten months the re growth was very satisfying.
  18. Micropigmentation, or SMP, is a new and innovative technique that enables to simulate hair in bald areas. The stable pigment and the needle, which are specially designed for the use on the scalp, give a very natural aspect, similar to shaved hair. Only a contact with the scalp can help make the difference. In order to deepen our knowledge of this technique and to offer our patients an even better quality, one of Dr Devroye’s assistants will take part in a training in Italy – not far from Rome – on 11th and 12th July 2016. In this regard, we are looking for a patient who would consider a SMP to redefine or densify his eyebrows. Only the transport and the hotel are at your expense as the procedure is free. If you are interested, you can contact us by phone at the number +32 2 880 70 60, or per email at the address info@drdevroye.com. Kind regards, HTS Clinic
  19. The patient is 28 years old. He received 3376 grafts for 5935 hairs with the FUE technique. The intervention has lasted two days. The rate of transection was weak at less than 10%. The current pictures are not perfect as they were taken by the patient himself but we can clearly see the excellent regrowth of the FUE grafts.
  20. This patient is 46 years old. He has a good structure of the hair : thick and curly. He is wearing long hair so we have opted for a FUT. So we have foreseen a surgery of 2000 grafts FUT. Here are the details of the final result : 542 FUT1, 788FUT2, 541 FUT3 et 129 FUT4 : 1982 grafts for 4239 hair. The result is very natural and the scar is absolutely not visible.
  21. Thank you all for your comments! Dear 911fan, No, of course a FUE would have theoretically been possible, but I never practise a FUE by women. I think a FUE by women is very often a mistake for several reasons: the donor area is often very poor and hair is fragile, which complicates the surgery, with a quality inferior to a FUT. A FUE requires to shave completely the donor area, what most of my female patients are not willing to. However, using grafts of one and two hairs on the first part of the transplant, that is to say the first 1500 grafts, enabled me to achieve this result particularly natural. Here is an update of the evolution after one year. Kind regards, Jean Devroye
  22. This patient of 39 years old would like to cover the crown area. A larger area than the one macroscopically empty has been grafted in order to anticipate the future loss. In the other hand, I have recommended to the patient to take Minoxidil and Finasteride to stabilize the hairless. Here are the results of the FUT surgery : 3093 grafts with 437 FUT 1, 1780 FUT 2, 742 FUT 3 and 134 FUT 4 for an amount of 6759 hair. The patient is really happy with the situation. The grafts have been transplanted following a spiral. I'll get some better pictures soon showing more precisely the result and they will be posted too. Dr Jean Devroye MD
  23. Thank you for your comment! We did fill the crown, but with a lower density. I am not sure that the patient wants to fill in the crown more. It is often more interesting to prioritize the anterior area, which is the most visible and the most striking visually. Kind regards, Jean Devroye
  24. Thank you for your enthusiasm! Yes, having a lower density is one of the criteria for choosing a FUE. Moreover, this technique has the capacity to recover a balance in terms of density between the donor and the recipient areas. Kind regards, Jean Devroye
