  1. PATIENT'S DETAILS ✓ 27 years old, NW IV, losing hair since the age of 21, with a hair loss history in his family (brother, same condition). ✓ Had taken Minoxidil 5% during 2 years when he was 23, then stopped because of side effects (palpitations). Has started again the treatment approximately 1 month before undergoing the surgery. ✓ Medium caliber hair. ✓ Normal follicular units. ✓ High % of hair in telogen phase. RECOMMENDED TREATMENT Despite the quite advanced and aggressive hair loss the patient suffered (NW IV stage, heading to NW VI), he presented a very rich donor area that made him a suitable candidate both for FUT or FUE procedure. Given that the patient didn't like the idea to get a permanent linear scar in his donor zone, we decided to perform an FUE procedure. In September '17, 3444 FUE grafts were harvested and implanted during two consecutive days in order to rebuild his hairline and cover the frontal and midscalp areas. The patient submitted then the pictures we display below, showing his progress two weeks, three, four, six and eight months after the surgery. He is very satisfied about the outcome and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome him at the clinic in the next coming months to update this thread with his final results. SURGERY DETAILS ✓ 3444 grafts ✓ Technique: FUE ✓ FUE scoring and extractions executed with my WAW system, now widely used in the sphere of FUE. It consists of a very precise pedal that enables to control the movement of the punch, that I also designed myself. The main advantage is to reduce substantially the number of damaged and transected hair, thus to raise the quality of the procedure. The system is now used worldwide and several dozens of surgeons or centres are already using it. ✓ Incisions: 35-40/cm2 ✓ Grafts Breakdown: ☞ 856 Single FUE grafts ☞ 1646 Double FUE grafts ☞ 927 Triple FUE grafts ☞ 15 Quadruple FUE grafts ✓ Total number of Hair: 6989 ✓ Average Hair/Graft: 2.03 Dr. Jean Devroye
  2. The patient is now 52 years-old and 6 months ago underwent a second FUE procedure consisting of 1506 grafts with the aim of increasing the overall density. Since he was already satisfied with his new hairline, we decided to mostly focus on enhancing the midscalp density (this area was not touched during the first procedure). The patient has recently come in for a post-operative check-up and we present below his pictures taken 6 months after his second surgery (after receiving a total of 4596 FUE grafts). Please note that the patient had started a treatment based on Finasteride 1mg, 1x/day and Minoxidil 5%, 2x/day since one month after his first surgery. We apologize for the wrong data reported on the original post. 3. Spanker, Wazaam, thanks for your kind appreciation. Regarding this patient's remaining donor capacity: he still has at least 2000 available resources via FUE in case he will need a further procedure down the line. Probably even more. In this regard, the length the patient wish to wear his donor hair after the procedure plays an important role. If he wants to cut his hair very short (similar to buzz cut), the reduction of the density following FUE extractions will be much more visible, therefore it would probably be better to err on the side of caution regarding his available donor capacity. On the other hand, if he grows his donor hair longer, the density reduction will be less significant since it will be masked by the length of the existing hair. This scenario will normally allow to extract at least 2000 more grafts, as stated above. Hope this helps,
  4. Thanks for your comments. This patient has just undergone his second surgery, a combo 2550 FUT + 1052 FUE (3602 grafts in total, some of which have been extracted via BHT from his beard donor) which gives a total of 7158 grafts extracted thus far. After this second procedure his donor appears still in good conditions: if he will need a further procedure in the future, I'm confident that we could extract another 1000/1500 grafts (via FUE and/or BHT) without any problem. The pictures and documentation of his second surgery will be posted shortly.
  5. PATIENT'S DETAILS ✓ 31 years old, NW V-VI, losing hair since the age of 16, with a hair loss history in his family (paternal side). ✓ Had a previous FUT procedure done in another clinic. Unknown number of grafts. Results not noticeable at all except for some pluggy grafts visible in the vertex area. ✓ No medications before nor after the procedure. ✓ Medium hair. ✓ Normal follicular units. ✓ High % of hair in telogen phase. RECOMMENDED TREATMENT The patient presented an extended hair loss (NW V-VI) and wished to get as much coverage as possible in a single session. Since he wished to wear his donor hair short after the surgery, we decide to perform an FUE procedure consisting of 4225 grafts. This amount of grafts has allowed us to rebuild the patient's hairline and to cover his frontal, midscalp and vertex areas with a very satisfying density. We took this opportunity to repair the scar resulting from his previous FUT as well. The patient came for a check-up at the clinic at the 7th post-op mark, when his results were already remarkable as you can see in the pictures below. One year after the surgery, he sent in another set of pictures and he's thrilled by the results he has achieved so far. It is important to underline that the patient hasn't taken any medications before nor after the procedure. SURGERY DETAILS ✓ 4225 grafts ✓ Technique: FUE ✓ FUE scoring and extractions executed with my WAW system, now widely used in the sphere of FUE. 6. PATIENT'S DETAILS ✓ 33 years old, Diffuse hair loss pattern (Ludwig II), losing hair since the age of 23, with a hair loss history in his family (father NW VI). ✓ Started taking Minoxidil 5% since 1 month before the surgery. ✓ Medium caliber hair. ✓ Normal follicular units. ✓ Normal % of hair in telogen phase. RECOMMENDED TREATMENT This 33-year-old patient presented a diffuse thinning affecting the whole of his scalp. Despite that, he is a very good candidate for a hair transplant procedure: his hair is slightly curly and his donor area is excellent. Moreover, he had started taking Minoxidil 5% since 3 months before the surgery - even though the medication turned out to be not very effective for the patient. We agreed upon performing an FUT procedure and the patient accepted to shave the whole recipient area, which allowed for a perfect work. In this first session, we decided to focus on the frontal area and midscalp restoration, leaving the vertex untouched at this stage. The procedure was carried out in June 2017, when he received 3556 FUT grafts. As you can see in the pictures below, the patient has experienced a quite fast regrowth, since at the 7th post-op month mark the change in his look was already apparent. The patient will come back for his second session next month of April. His second procedure will consist in a combo FUT + FUE during two consecutive days with the aim of covering the vertex area. We will not hesitate to share with you the pictures of his second surgery as soon as they will be available. SURGERY DETAILS ✓ 3556 grafts ✓ Technique: FUT ✓ Incisions: 40-45/cm2 ✓ Grafts Breakdown: ☞ 796 Single FUT grafts ☞ 1994 Double FUT grafts ☞ 683 Triple FUT grafts ☞ 83 Quadruple FUT grafts ✓ Total number of Hair: 7165 ✓ Average Hair/Graft: 2.01 Dr. Jean Devroye

  9. PATIENT'S DETAILS ✓ 60 years old, NW V, losing hair since the age of 25, with a hair loss history in his family (two brothers, NW VI). ✓ Taking Minoxidil 5% since 10 years. ✓ Medium hair. ✓ Normal follicular units. ✓ Normal % of hair in telogen phase. RECOMMENDED TREATMENT This 60-year-old gentlemen presented an advanced level of baldness, categorizable as V in the Norwood scale. Given the extended hair loss he suffered, I proposed him a plan consisting in two separated sessions. The first one, consisting in approximately 3000-3500 grafts, with the aim of restoring his hairline, frontal and low midscalp areas - following a conservative approach. The second session, around 2000-2500 grafts, in order to restore the upper mid-scalp and vertex. The patient underwent both procedures via FUT technique (January '15 and January '16), for a total of 5896 grafts. The post-operative pictures presented below show his final results (1 year and 2 years after the second procedure). Please note that the 2 years post-op images were sent in by the patient himself. SURGERIES DETAILS 1st Surgery - January 2015 ✓ 3618 grafts ✓ Technique: FUT ✓ Incisions: 40-45/cm2 ✓ Grafts Breakdown: - 1131 Single FUT grafts - 1967 Double FUT grafts - 486 Triple FUT grafts - 34 Quadruple FUT grafts ✓ Total number of Hair: 6659 ✓ Average Hair/Graft: 1.84 2nd Surgery - January 2016 ✓ 2278 grafts ✓ Technique: FUT ✓ Incisions: 40-45/cm2 ✓ Grafts Breakdown: - 634 Single FUT grafts - 1378 Double FUT grafts - 256 Triple FUT grafts - 10 Quadruple FUT grafts ✓ Total number of Hair: 4198 ✓ Average Hair/Graft: 1.84 Dr. Jean Devroye
  10. Thanks for your comments and appreciation Andy and Spanker. I'm glad you liked the presentation. Indeed, the consumption of Finasteride would help him a lot in his situation. However, he has always been quite reluctant to take it and so far he hasn't changed his mind.
  11. PATIENT'S DETAILS ✓ 30 years old, NW V-VI,with a hair loss history in his family (father, same situation). ✓ In 2011, he had a previous procedure done in another clinic, 1000/1500 hairs transplanted (micrografts via strip). ✓ No medications. ✓ Medium hair. ✓ Normal follicular units. ✓ Normal % of hair in telogen phase. RECOMMENDED TREATMENT This gentleman came to my office to find a solution for his situation. In fact, in 2011 he had undergone a first procedure in another clinic that gave him very sparse and unnatural results, as well as a scar in his donor area, as you can see in the preoperative pictures. In this case, I felt that a COMBO (FUT + FUE) would have been the best way to proceed in order to maximise his donor resources. By means of the combination of the two techniques, I would have been able to: 1) partially correct the existing FUT scar, taking it as a reference while extracting the new strip, and 2) enhance the amount of available grafts via the supplementary FUE. The patient has undergone the surgery in January 2016, when he received 4689 grafts in two consecutive days. I have used the single grafts to rebuild the very first hairline, while the other grafts to considerably boost his frontal, midscalp and crown density. The patient has just sent in two different set of pictures showing his results 2 years after the procedure and is very satisfied about his current situation. One set shows his hair a bit longer, the other after having get a haircut. Please find them below. SURGERY DETAILS ✓ 4689 grafts ✓ Technique: COMBO FUT (3840 FUs) + FUE (849 FUs) ✓ FUE scoring and extractions executed with my WAW system, now widely used in the sphere of FUE. It consists of a very precise pedal that enables to control the movement of the punch, that I also designed myself. The main advantage is to reduce substantially the number of damaged and transected hair, thus to raise the quality of the procedure. The system is now used worldwide and several dozens of surgeons or centres are already using it. ✓ Incisions: 40/45 cm2 ✓ Grafts Breakdown: - 514 Single FUT + 96 Single FUE = 610 Single grafts - 1935 Double FUT + 341 Double FUE grafts = 2276 Double grafts - 1161 Triple FUT + 308 Triple FUE grafts = 1469 Triple grafts - 230 Quad. FUT + 104 Quad. FUE grafts = 334 Quadruple grafts ✓ Total number of Hair: 8787 (FUT) + 2118 (FUE) = 10905 ✓ Average Hair/Graft: 2.29 (FUT) + 2.49 (FUE) = 2.39 Dr. Jean Devroye
  12. PATIENT'S DETAILS ✓ 24 years old, Diffuse hair loss pattern (Ludwig I), losing hair since the age of 22. ✓ Taking Minoxidil 5% and Finasteride 1mg since 3 months before the surgery. ✓ Medium caliber hair. ✓ Normal follicular units. ✓ High % of hair in telogen phase. RECOMMENDED TREATMENT This young man came to my office to find a solution for his receding hairline and for a general thinning affecting the whole of his scalp. In fact, since some months he had started noticing a loss on his hair mass and was having difficulty finding an adequate hair style. First of all, I suggested him to start a therapy based on Minoxidil and Finasteride in order to prevent further hair loss and to increase the quality of his native hair. Subsequently, we decided to perform an FUE procedure consisting in approximately 2000-2200 grafts with the aim of rebuilding his hairline and adding hair mass to the frontal and central parts of his scalp. It is interesting to notice the extremely satisfying ratio hair/graft (2.56), due to the high quantity of quadruple grafts that we were able to harvest. Below you can see the patient's progress at the 1st, 4th and 12th post-op month mark. The procedure, combined to the usage of the medications, has proven to be a real success. SURGERY DETAILS ✓ 2074 grafts ✓ Technique: FUE ✓ FUE scoring and extractions executed with my WAW system, now widely used in the sphere of FUE. It consists of a very precise pedal that enables to control the movement of the punch, that I also designed myself. The main advantage is to reduce substantially the number of damaged and transected hair, thus to raise the quality of the procedure. 13. Hello albine, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for updating us with your final results. We are very glad to read that everything turned out well. The results are very nice and natural indeed. We look forward to welcoming you at the clinic when you'll have the opportunity to come to Brussels ! Best regards and best wishes for a happy New Year,
  14. PATIENT'S DETAILS ✓ 24 years old, NW II/III, losing hair since the age of 18 but situation stabilized since 2 years. Same hair loss history in his family (uncle and grandfather, paternal side). ✓ Taking Minoxidil since the surgery. ✓ Medium caliber hair. ✓ Normal follicular units. ✓ High % of hair in telogen phase. RECOMMENDED TREATMENT This young man came to my office to find a solution for his receding temples. He had been losing hair since the age of 18, however the hair loss had stabilized since the age of 22. During the pre-op consultation, we agreed upon an FUE procedure consisting in approximately 1800-2000 grafts in order to restore his temple corners. Moreover, I prescribed him Minoxidil 5%. Eventually, we were able to harvest 1880 grafts, including an important number of singles (500) that were used to rebuild the very first hairline. At the 6th post-op month mark, the patient already experienced a noticeable regrowth, as you can appreciate in the pictures below. The patient recently contacted, 2 years after the surgery, to inform us that he's still very pleased about his results. He also promised to send us some update pictures, which we'll not hesitate to share with you as soon as available. SURGERY DETAILS ✓ 1880 grafts ✓ Technique: FUE ✓ FUE scoring and extractions executed with my WAW system, now widely used in the sphere of FUE. It consists of a very precise pedal that enables to control the movement of the punch, that I also designed myself. The main advantage is to reduce substantially the number of damaged and transected hair, thus to raise the quality of the procedure. 16. PATIENT'S DETAILS ✓ 33 years old, NW IIIA, losing hair since the age of 29, with a hair loss history in his family (paternal grandfather NW VII, maternal grandfather NW IV). ✓ Started taking Finasteride 1mg and Minoxidil 5% since 3 months before the surgery. ✓ Thin hair. ✓ Fragile follicular units. ✓ High % of hair in telogen phase. RECOMMENDED TREATMENT This 33-year-old patient wanted to restore his receding hairline and frontal area. He is a very good candidate for a hair transplant procedure: his hair is curly and his donor area is excellent. Moreover, he started taking Finasteride and Minoxidil since 3 months before the surgery. We agreed upon performing an FUT procedure and the patient accepted to shave the whole recipient area, which allowed for a perfect work. The regrowth has been quite fast, since at the 4th post-op month mark the change in his look was already apparent. Subsequently, the pictures taken 1 and 2 years post-op show very natural and dense final results. SURGERY DETAILS ✓ 3290 grafts ✓ Technique: FUT ✓ Incisions: 40-45/cm2 ✓ Grafts Breakdown: ☞ 772 Single FUT grafts ☞ 1635 Double FUT grafts ☞ 764 Triple FUT grafts ☞ 119 Quadruple FUT grafts ✓ Total number of Hair: 6810 ✓ Average Hair/Graft: 2.07 Dr. Jean Devroye
  17. PATIENT'S DETAILS ✓ 33 years old, NW IIIA, losing hair since the age of 18, with a hair loss history in his family (father NW V, uncle NW VII). ✓ Took Finasteride during 7-8 years, stopped 2 years before the surgery because of side effects. At the same time, started taking Minoxidil 5%. ✓ Thin hair. ✓ Normal follicular units. ✓ Normal % of hair in telogen phase. RECOMMENDED TREATMENT This 33-year-old gentleman came to visit me to find a solution for his receding frontal area, focusing on his hairline restoration. The strategy adopted was based on two main considerations: 1) The patient wanted to transplant a maximum number of grafts in a single session. 2) Given that the patient wasn’t willing to take Finasteride again, we had to err on the side of caution in regards to his donor area management. In fact, also considering his family hair loss history, it is likely that he will need a second procedure in the future to address his upper mid-scalp and vertex, if his hair loss will progress. We therefore decided to proceed with an FUT procedure, with a conservative hairline design – which will be appropriate for him also during the next years, when he will reach a mature age. The patient finally received 3202 grafts: with this amount we were able to restore his hairline and add density to his frontal area and mid-scalp. The results pictures were taken at our clinic during his post-operative consultation and show his situation one year and six months after the procedure. You can also find his detailed experience at the following link: https://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=3216 SURGERY DETAILS ✓ 3202 grafts ✓ Technique: FUT ✓ Incisions: 40-45/cm2 ✓ Grafts Breakdown: ☞ 501 Single FUT grafts ☞ 1982 Double FUT grafts ☞ 643 Triple FUT grafts ☞ 76 Quadruple FUT grafts ✓ Total number of Hair: 6698 ✓ Average Hair/Graft: 2.09 Dr. Jean Devroye

  20. PATIENT'S DETAILS ✓ 29 years old. ✓ No medications. ✓ Medium caliber hair. ✓ Normal follicular units. ✓ Low % of hair in telogen phase. RECOMMENDED TREATMENT This patient was 29 years old at the time of the surgery. 4 years before, he had an accident while skating that resulted in a scar on his left eyebrow. Moreover, he always had quite sparse eyebrows, that he wanted to get more dense. In agreement with the patient, we performed a small FUT procedure. Every graft extracted has been carefully inspected and trimmed in order to get only single hairs. Finally, the patient received 402 FUT1, around 200 on each side. The regrowth has been very satisfactory. It is interesting to note the similarity between the situation just after the surgery (0+) and 4 months / 1 year post-op. SURGERY DETAILS ✓ Technique: FUT ✓ Grafts Breakdown: ☞ 402 Single FUT grafts ✓ Total number of Hair: 402 ✓ Average Hair/Graft: N/A Dr. Jean Devroye
  21. PATIENT'S DETAILS ✓ 33 years old. ✓ No medications. ✓ Medium caliber hair. ✓ Fragile follicular units. ✓ High % of hair in telogen phase. RECOMMENDED TREATMENT Here is a very nice example about how a well-framed beard can change a man's look. This 33-year-old gentleman reported a lack of beard hair, particularly noticeable on his cheeks. This is related to a congenital situation, since both his father and brother suffer from the same condition. In order to cover these empty areas with a fair density, we decided to perform an FUE consisting in 1000/1200 grafts – eventually resulting in an 1124 FUE procedure. Among these, 187 grafts were taken from his beard donor, while the other 937 were harvested from the traditional donor area. The patient came back to our offices for a check-up at the 7th post-op month mark, and submitted additional pictures one year and two months after the procedure. Please find them below. SURGERY DETAILS ✓ 1124 grafts ✓ Technique: FUE ✓ FUE scoring and extractions executed with my WAW system, now widely used in the sphere of FUE. It consists of a very precise pedal that enables to control the movement of the punch, that I also designed myself. The main advantage is to reduce substantially the number of damaged and transected hair, thus to raise the quality of the procedure. The system is now used worldwide and several dozens of surgeons or centres are already using it. ✓ Grafts Breakdown: ☞ 513 Single FUE grafts ☞ 611 Double FUE grafts ✓ Total number of Hair: 1735 ✓ Average Hair/Graft: 1.54 Dr. Jean Devroye
