  1. jaun, it depends on what your goals are ... i dont think you posted specifics on what you are looking for, a picture, etc. so i will assume you are just trying to look younger. please see a good doctor, and i am sure you can work this out... there will probably be some negotiation, IF you goals are unrealistic. Good Luck Man!
  2. sorry to pull this old thread out, but does this more or less mean one who gets a HT done, can never shave to 0?
  3. coscanoer, I agree that transplant is a one-way trip in that you lose option to shave completely, down the road (strip) should one's loss progress pretty badly... ofcourse, one can come back for transplant, but I dont know if I would continue to fight this losing game. basically, to me, in getting a HT done, "I am buying time" probably 10yrs hopefully 15yrs! come to think of it, i need to find out if the scar will ever become smaller, as time goes by...
  4. This makes sense, should one feel nausea during the surgery for the smell ...
  5. thanks for advice guys. jhamil, i saw your pictures... if i were you, i probably wouldnt have had a HT, but it looked like you didnt need 2500, unless you had more than just temples to do. Either way, you look great now!
  6. Hey Alex, here is who I would recommend seeing, i am from NH too: Dr. Feller, Great Neck NY Dr. Mike Beehner, Saratoga Springs NY Dr. Mark DiStefano, Worcester MA I have met with all of them, dont know if Dr. Mark is recommended here... but dont let the distance discourage you.. Good Luck, man ! PM me if you need anything...
  7. wantmorehare, if hair loss is troubling you so much, you must get it done, and get on with normal life.. there are no pics, so i cannot comment on what you have so far.. have you seen Dr. Rose ? I have, he is a very nice man, down to earth, great surgeon, reasonable price too. Dont go by who has most albums, or who is most talked about... Good Luck!
  8. thanks juanc, imissthebarber.. i am counting on my curly hair, and about the discussing with a surgeon, i am hoping i will be obliged with all the detailed questions.. as you can see, i disect this thing a lot more than many out here, it looks like :-) but, thats me! HairHope, TheEmperor, thanks for the input.. I didnt think I would need 4K+ for just the frontal.. Man, I was hoping i could getaway with 3K for just the frontal, the problem is the more i picture myself with about 4k, i less motived i become to get the HT done... i am hoping some good surgeons recommended here can achieve reasonable coverage on the frontal with 3k, with all the lateral slit techniques and so on.. Check these two, the second patient had chosen coverage over density, i understand... either way, i probably need at the very least 3500. 1st: ( 3.1K ) before: http://www.hairtransplantnetwo...opyID=1395&WebID=689 after: http://www.hairtransplantnetwo...opyID=2629&WebID=689 (some pics have both before and after in the same image.) 2nd: (3.2k) before: http://www.hairtransplantnetwo...opyID=1647&WebID=750 after: http://www.hairtransplantnetwo...opyID=2265&WebID=750
  9. Juanc/Ronald/Aaron, Thanks for your opinions guys.. I was told by HT doc I visited that I do have reasonable amount of donor hair TODAY.. but long term you never know, I had amazing dense hair on the top 20 years ago, see what happened ;-) I would also love to hear on my idea that filling up every bit of scalp is not necessarily the right strategy.. Aaron, you did the best thing going to Dr. Shapiro... Good Luck man!
  10. hello folks... anyone has any experiences with Dr. Beehner ? There are not many patient pics in the album but not everyone will post the progress, so was wondering if anyone could share their opinions. secondly, has anyone had a larger session with him ? 2500+ ? thanks in advance..

  12. qpwoei, i can see why there is a market for hair systems, if people just want to get-by for a few years and for instance, if they just want to look less bald at work or during the day, etc... and dont care much "how they really look" ... to me it was as simple as a baseball cap or a hair transplant, period!
  13. Please discuss/advise.. I am 38 (probably more like NW6, but not exactly - see pic) and fighting with myself as far as how much of the scalp should I get HT done. So far, I am leaning toward getting just enough to cover my frontal half. (Area A in picture) I dont think being agressive and filling up the entire bald scalp is necessary for the following reasons: 1. frontal half is very critical to change one's look. While I agree the crown will make a little bit more diff, the (perceived)difference in look between getting a frontal and rear is not much .. 2. if one's job is not in entertainment industry/show biz or does not need to wear very short hair, it shouldnt be that big a deal 3. close to double the cost, frontal might need about 1500-2500, for the entire top, could be 3500-4000 (H&W could probably fit about 7000) 4. potential to look terrible either way. After say 10 yrs, if loss continued further back and down, there could be a new gap between transplanted hair and original hair at which point there may or may not be enough donor hair / strip available to close the gap, should max out in the first HT by doing entire bald scalp. So, to overcome #4, I was planning to having a sort of a band of decreasing density in the rear of frontal half(in the area B) to resolve unnatural look of dense (transplanted)hair abruptly ending in clean bald head near crown area. I have actually seen some pictures of patients performed by a popular surgeon on this site who had this look. So what do you guys say ?
  14. imun, we dont see your frontal, may be thats where you think you need your 2nd HT on... but if you are still talking about your crown again... honestly, i wouldnt even plan on the next one until i wait and see how your loss is going to progress... if you are going to have any down the road.. who knows it may have stabilized or slowed down.. but if you want to push it, need a real thick bush, probably another 500.. some docs might even say they can sneak in a 1000 !
  15. mrkneed, I visited Dr. Destefano in worcester sometime back... was a bit worried about how dense he could pack... would you share your pictures prior to your first HT with Dr. Destefano ? thanks a lot..
  16. Mohsin, you should post some pics... more often than not, we underestimate what we need, at least thats how it looks to me.. hair_care, i am glad you said that... it seemed like 90% of patients (or the doctors) here are pretty aggressive.. dont know how young the patients are. I wonder if people consider how its going to look, 10-20 yrs down the road if hair loss continues, if they are prepared for more procedures, thats ok, but those talking about get everything done single session..i am not so sure.. i tend to think "single session" is a myth, for most cases anyways... I wonder if there someway to say with some certainity that hair loss has stabilized. for eg. something like "if one hasnt had any visible hair loss for the last 3 yrs, then there is 80% chance he/she wouldnt lose any more..." wishful thinking, perhaps!!!
  17. Looking good.. looks like your hair/skin contrast is less which a bonus. Enjoy!
  18. Thanks for the detailed post! I am sure you are going to see great results, Dr. Fellers work is one of the best in my opinion, based on the patient pics on this website and the posters here.. Good Luck. please post pics and let us know....
  19. PD

    H&W

I heard Dr. Hassan is good with crown work... and Dr. Wong the frontal thirds or halves, not sure about he temples.. again since they have been working together for decade(s), i am sure both mastered each others specialty.
  20. hey mrkneed, are you the one who had your 1st HT done with Dr. Mark DeStefano ? I agree with aaron. if i had your hair, i wouldnt even be here.... but since you already had good hair the read diff would probably be visible later..
  21. come on guys, there is a difference... between the first and last photo. good luck.
  22. and the winner is..... Bill ! I must say Bill, I am impressed with the way you are handling this... I applaud you being impartial and protecting everyone's freedom of expression. Generally, i think doctors are given more leeway in allowing most types of posts, and may be rightly so, as they are the experts whose opinions are invaluable. Again, this is just MY OPINION, no offence to anyone please!
  23. I am sure we agree that the major contributor is the genes, but i believe when you already have thinning hair or potentially more loss in future, this might matter.. check out this article.. http://www.webmd.com/skin-prob...-hair-loss-naturally looks like it is for women, but i take it that some of that should be applicable for men ? here are excerpts that raised my eyebrows : '"Biotin is a major component in the natural hair manufacturing process -- it is essential to not only grow new hair, but it also plays a major role in the overall health of skin and nails," says Andrew Lessman, clinical researcher and creator of Your Vitamins, an all-natural supplement line manufactured in Henderson, Nevada.' '..taking too much zinc can also cause a copper deficiency, which in turn can actually cause hair loss -- another reason she believes supplementation of these minerals is unnecessary....' should we be taking vitamins .. targeting to slow down hair loss, maybe.. instead of any OTC vitamin.. what do you guys think ?
  24. yankeesfan, Great pictures.. scar healing looks amazing.. Congrats!
  25. I agree with TC17, it is a good deal.. and work looks amazing, the post-op pics show how close the grafts were placed, enjoy..
