  1. Thanks for the post FemaleHT! I am new at this. I just joined the forum so forgive me if this question is naive. I didn't know it was POSSIBLE to have a HT without shaving the recipient area! This has been one of the biggest reasons I have for not having the HT yet. I just can't imagine being at work with part or all of my head shaved. I wear a suit and tie to work so wearing some kind of hat isn't possible. So what's the bottom line on having an HT without shaving the recipient area?
  2. Please give me some advice! I had a consultation yesterday at HCM for transplant surgery. The next step is to meet with the physician before scheduling any surgery. After several weeks of searching this forum, it is clear to me that the general feeling is one of disdain for HCM (and even more so for Bosley). But I am very curious about something. I can easily understand a company building a poor reputation for a poor product (for example: IF the HCM hair "systems" and the HCM "method" of applying them was a problem). But hair transplant surgery is not a commodity item. Doesn't the real issue come down to the skill of the performing physician? Wouldn't quality be completely dependent on the doctor (irrelevant of the organization they are affiliated with)? The doctor at the local HCM office seems to have all the right credentials and claims over 10,000 procedures. The sales person (do they always use attractive women!?) was nice and seemed genuine, but I do understand that it is her job to make me feel good about HCM. I've done some web searches for the doctor (Dr. Holzer) and (other than sites with just his background and credentials) only found one posting, and it was favorable. Here is my question: The general advice on this forum seems to be "shop around" and "don't rush into it". Short of going to one of the highly acclaimed centers mentioned on the board, what difference will it make to go to another "independent" specialist? There will still be an attractive sales women telling me about the thousands of previous clients and the glossy before and after photos. Right?
