1. Tedd, aw come on.. post those pics and stop teasing us..will ya? PD.
2. pete, i dont think its easy to verify how many grafts a doc put in. i havent had a transplantation myself yet, but its probably purely 'trust'.. or if you are desperate, have someone count the red dots right after the surgery.. or did you already do that and found they are way off ?? are you not the guy who got the cheapest hair transplant in Chicago ??
3. Smoothy, Thanks for the advice. I was actually using Head & Shoulders only because it felt good. I didnt know it had hair loss prevention benefits !!! So by "2%", you mean "Nizoral 2%" ???? I am sorry I am really not upto speed with shampoos. And if it is Nizoral 2%, are there any risks/side effects involved that you know or heard of ? Thanks.
4. billorbob, LOL! a heads up for the "actual" heads up in public..lol.. in fact this site's search tool is much better, there is another site, hairsite.com, God, I never succeeded in using its search .. but it took me a lot of reading more than using search, thought i could save you guys some time.. it would really helpful if everyone updates their profile with the name of their HT surgeon..(atleast when they answer 'yes', one should be forced to enter the surgeon name ) Also, I was really surprised to not find posts of any photographs of those who had HT by Dr. Rose, except Vocor1 ofcourse! Maybe they are just too happy with the procedure and never come back to this forum ??? ...
5. Smoothy, Have you tried Nizorol( 2%??) ? What does this community prefer or consider the best shampoo for people with hair loss ? Have you heard hair growth claims by any others, like your friends, family memebers, this forum members,e tc ? i have been using Head & Shoulders for a long time now.. but was always scared of the "medicine-like" look of Nizorol.. thanks.
6. Tedd, Thanks for the updates... like others, I was also searching for guys how had the procedure done by Dr. Rose. It would be very helpful if you can document by good pics every month or so.. texasNW2,
quote:
i still feel like i have to hide my hair loss. i do "comb overs" in a manner of speaking. but when the wind blows, oh hell! everyone can tell i'm hiding my temple area baldness. I know exactly what you mean, how you feel! in fact i have been doing this "covering" stuff for about 2 years now and i am scared to go out without a cap..i look terrible when the cover comes off ! we will overcome it my friend, lets keep working on choosing the right doc for each one of us and victory will be ours :-) billorbob,
quote:
Thank's Teddw2ds for all the info on Dr.Rose. I'm just happy to see some stuff posted on him. When I go for my hair transplant I'll be in florida so Dr.Rose is someone I wanted to get info. on. I never see anything bad posted on him but not many post at all on him, so your a very big help. i am keeping track of the members of this site who had atleast one procedure done by Dr. Rose.. (based, solely on their posts, ofcourse!) here is the list.. "Vocor1, Teddw2ds, mehani, snowblind, TrendSetter, bk, Big it up, Mona772, redbeard" ( spending too much time on this website?? :-) ) Everyone, 45cm2 is really good, i thought.. for that matter, i dont know if i would like more than that as i have a fear of the transplanted area alone looking strangely dense should the other areas thin in due course of time! Again, its my opinion, i might be wrong in that the other areas (sides and back) may not thin for most people.. what do you guys think ?
7.
quote:
Originally posted by Manko: htpn, I waited until 4 weeks and had the sides cut down to a #4 and just a little off the top. I almost always get my hair cut every 2 weeks, so in keeping with that tradition I had my haircut 2 weeks later with a #3, and I'll have it cut again tomorrow with a #3. Now my question to you is how many weeks has it been since I had my HT. [big Grin] You didn't know there was math quizzes on this board? Good luck. Manko
8. Tedd, First of all thanks a lot for your detailed comments.. Dr. Rose happens to be my top priority among the doctors i met or talked to.. and hence i needed your valuable input. I was really surprised that a guy i know mentioned he had severe pain during and even some pain after the surgery.. and the doctor was not Dr. Rose but he is very much recommended by the memebers of this forum !!!.. I wonder if it has something to do with individual's tolerance.. i guess one will find out only if he/she had a procedure..
9. HT - Hair Transplantation Propecia - a pill, stops loss of remaining hair, side effects experienced by a very small % (2.9 maybe )but considered the most effective on the market at present. IMO - you are too young for HT (but there are other things to determine if you are a good candidate)..propecia, i dont know!
10. Hello everyone, I was encouraged to ask this question when i read a post that basically said one should have multi-pronged attack on hair loss, good point, i felt the same way and hence this question.. to all experts out there, who are already into using, learning, testing, etc. - Which is the best shampoo to prevent hair loss ( or regrow is even better, although i dont think one exists for this!) Is Nioxin the best? or are there any other out there equally good ? Does Nioxin improve the health of the existing miniaturized hair ?? Any help is appreciated, thanks [This message was edited by PD on August 18, 2003 at 08:10 AM.]
11. everyone, I am about NW3+, and the frontal scalp has pretty much no hair just a very little island.. will Toppik help me? How doest it work if there is no hair at all in the frontal scalp? thanks in advance..
12. Jenn, I wouldnt jump to any conclusions... did you get a chance to speak to your doctor about it ? please do so.. i know its easy to say, but try to get your mind away from thinking about it until you speak to your doctor, and dont forget that you can always get a second opinion, because sometimes doctors interpret harmonal level fluctuations different.. for all we know it could just be nothing.. a normal human phenomenon.. cool yourself down and wait for doc's opinion.. best of luck!!
13. Tedd, Good to know that you now look pretty much normal.. what is it ? 10 days? not bad.. a few questions for you ! 1. Why did you choose on Dr. Rose? 2. Have you seen any patients in person, who had the procedure done with him ? If so, how did their density or coverage look? Everyone, 3. Recently i was talking to a guy who had the procedure done by a recommended doctor on this website, he claims he had a "severe" pain during operation and also the pain persisted for about 10 days on his scalp - I asked if he had any issues, infections, etc., he said 'no' what do you guys think?
14. Ren, Please give us more info. Did you speak tothe doctor? what did he say? was yours a corrective procedure? who was the doctor? any history of infections/reactions or anything ? Your information will be useful to a lot of us who is still planning for a session.. Thanks in advance.
15. everyone, thanks for your input.. Vocor1, I am just beginning to realize that... indeed the top doctors are reasonably priced than the Chains/hairmills.. I was constantly calling and visiting doctors and their patients, up until now. It seems to me that each doctor has his own opinion and his own way of doing things.. (which is good) and we get to choose whose plan/model we like the most.. The guy in MHR (Steve) did not dare call me again.. hopefully he realized his mistake and be more courteous moving forward.. you know, its this "headstrong" nature that they are part of huge chain and nobody watches how they behave that I hate the most.. arfy, Thanks for the tip, i will try it now
16. vbcbc, You seem like you are doing all you can. I can understand 'cause I was grappling for information when I was your age, myself! Most Hair Transplant doctors do not perform surgery on a younger patient like you for different reasons. Some reasons that I know are : ~ you cannot have too many of them (2-3 is optimal) so its not something you do every 5yrs or so to fill in the gaps. ~ yield (growth of transplanted hair) drops at each session if one were to go to the same area. ~ most youngsters like you want lower hairline which is going to look really awful when you reach 60s or so because transplanted hair is not going to fall! ~ some doctors think its not "ethical" ~ maybe its not profitable for the doctors to work on someone who wants 500 grafts or less these days.. [that doesnt mean you should go for 1500+ grafts even if you dont need!] The good news is you may still find some good doctors who will agree to do.. if you explain them, beg them or whatever.. I am a little skeptical about propecia working for too long on ALL PEOPLE... i have been hearing people complaining that it doesnt work anymore over 4 yrs.. but that might be for a select few. If you are looking forward to having full head AFTER 2-3 years, I would wait for another year and go for a HT by which time you might look like you need about 1000 grafts, so they will fully grow by an year. So the basic strategy would be to evaluate your donor area with a doctor, spread your HTs , plan ahead .. look into your 40s, 50s too.. Good Luck!
17. we might need another surgery then ! lol...
18. Dr. Beehner, Thank you sir for your answers.. doctors like you posting advices, information, techniques go a long a way in making patients like me to come back to this wonderful website..
19. good advice !
quote:
Ask every question, hold nothing back! Ask to talk with and visit some of that doctor's patients. Believe little or nothing a salesperson tells you, he or she is employed to convince you to proceed. Always see the doctor in person, if possible, in the consultation before you schedule. Dr. Limmer, You are very much right.. We must be all thankful to the technology of Internet without which, I have no idea what I would have done to my HEAD. and more importantly, support, encouragement and involvement of doctors like you is very much appreciated deep down all our hearts.. #!$@%$@%^*&(&%^ - Someone help me - how do i edit the msg ?

21. what a difference !!! best of luck for your next one..
22. N, thank you for a descriptive post on your HT session. I was considering visiting NHI myself for a consultation. Couple of Questions : 1. Have you actually seen a patient who had similar session to yours on a virgin scalp AFTER the grafts were about fully grown(8mths-1yr)? If you did, how did you like the graft placement? 2. Have you not used ice to avoid swelling ? Is there any reason for not doing so? 3. Why were you bleeding heavily? Did the doctor tell you that thats how it is for some people or was tehre any other reason ? Good Luck again and take care!
23. Dr. Beehner, Thank you sir for your patient and long post. But i didnt find the actual reason why you want to use multi-bladed knife. Agreed that it doesnt leave a worse donor scar and that you are more comfortable with it and so on. But here are some straight questions : 1. Explain how multi-blade does not affect the transection rate. [You mentioned that we could watch over your shoulders and see for ourselves taht it doesnt go over 1-2% but a better option would be a simple explaination from you.] 2. To me (and I am not genious!) transplanting 2 halves of a FU will ofcourse not give you 2 hair let alone 1 hair for the obvious reason. So my question is why are we even talking of this? No offense but only for my information, when do you decide you can transplant such cut hair? And isnt this the transected hair we are talking here? 3.
quote:
A final philosophic note is that I think it is unwise to finish the entire transplant process in 1-2 visits. Some of the very successful hair transplantation doctors recommended on this website do recommend getting as many transplants as we can in one procedure to avoid low yield if done in parts. And those doctors have been able to achieve 40-55 grafts /cm2 or even more in some cases. Are you going to be able to achieve even better density than taht if done in more than one sessions? Explain to us what is so unwise about it. Thanks again for your time.
