  1. Smoothy, by +ve diff, do you mean increase in the health of hair density or reduced hair loss?? Is there any shampoo thats most of the guys in this forum think is helping reduce the hair loss ?? I use head & shoulders and like it because it keeps my hair very clean.. also how many times a week is the recommended use of Niocin or any other shampoos you guys are using ?
  2. Anonymous, I do hear from a lot of friends that they were struck with a sudden and intense hair loss.. vocor1 maybe right in that weather has nothing to do with hairloss, but I personally feel that any drastic changes that our body experiences might cause sudden hair loss.. and i tend to think its mostly water. some minerals or chemicals in the water could be different in number or quantity (not necessarily harmful) in diff. geographies, but its easy to see that this could affect the hair thats already miniaturized and weak .. again, I cannot quote from any research or anything.. i could be wrong! In any case, i also feel propecia could help you better and i did hear from a number of doctors that propecia DOES improve the health of miniaturized hair in the frontal area as opposed to the popular belief or claims. So i would get on it first..
  3. Dr. Beehner, Thanks for stepping in to explain! Most of us on this website understand that there might be an unhappy patient even with the best of the best doctors in the world (which i personally believe is mostly caused by too much of expectations by patient or some miscommunication.) That doesnt lessen the reputation of a good doctor like you. I am also interested in the answer to the question posed by ts808.
  4. Microprose, Have you had an FUE ?? Has anyone else on this forum you know of did ? Whats your opinion about FUE in comparison with FUT ? I feel its still a little too early to say the technology is mature..
  5. nvs to tsplt , I personally believe that the price you mentioned is a little too low.. but i wouldnt worry too much about price ( well, as long as its not prohibitively high which it isnt!) I have never gotten an HT and was planning for one soon.. I might end up spending anywhere from 6K-8K for a little less grafts than you mentioned... So i strongly suggest you to 1. do your research /learn the technology 2. meet the doctors 3. see the patients who had procedure done 4. set your goals or requirements 5. go for it !!! How many things have you bought until now that stay on your body every minute of the rest of your life ?? I learnt a lot on this website (thanks a bunch, Pat! and thanks to Internet! ) so can you..
  6. Mahair, Sorry to hear about you.. shock loss as we know is common, there might have been worse things that could happen that didnt happen.. so be happy. I am sure everything will come out good in the end.. as for the hairline.. its unfortunate, these freaking aXXholes dont give a damn, do they? We all should learn something from this, not just for a hair transplant, but in general which i think is to : "have courage to say no" even if it means after we enter the surgery room.. i know its easy to say.. in fact i find myself a lot of times, failing to say "no" in many things in life and then repenting later.. these blooksuckers know how to trick us.. because thats what they mastered over the years.. they know its hard for us to say "no" in the last minute.. so everyone, beware & BE FIRM.. its "OUR HEAD" for God sakes !
  7. uncjim, Congrats on taking control of life..!! Seeing someone changed their life, encourages people like me who have nevver had a HT done... i appreciate your post! ( i am closing my eyes and trying to enact what u described with me in there !!!)
  8. Couldnt find "edit" button !!! read "i hr" as 1 hr. read " dont you think its a little about he market rate?" as " dont you think its a little above the market rate?" typing errors, sorry !
  9. phl, I sure would have included but there were only 5 choices !! Check my post today "all you wanna konw about MHR - boston" God, these guys are turning out to be Bosley of this decade !
  10. hi everyone, I just met visited MHR in Boston( Wellesly Hills ). I thought my impressions, experience will help someone.. This is actually my second visit.. I arrived there on time but was called in after 45 mins.. last time i visited it was the same situation, i hr wait in the waiting room.. (its a work day and took a time off - i get paid hourly so it matters a lot to me) These guys tell me that their time is valuable so i should let them know in advance if i am late or not coming.. and they do this to me! Anyway, i didnt mind that, met the sales guy, who was a little rude when i first talked to him over phone but after i met him he looked nice explained well, answered all question, showed his transplantation on himself - lot of companies are doing this - have a sales guy undergo HT ! - for all we know they might have taken best care possible for him which regular people like us maynot get.. i met the doctor too, William Magdalin, he seems pretty nice guy , maybe not much of experience.. but i kind a liked him honestly, one thing though is that these guys DONT use microscopes, he tells me they allow technicians to choose whatever magnification spects or whatever they want to use..he claims that its not really useful to go with Microscope.. but he didnt convince me.. After that, this sales guy, Steve, starts talking about the cost, his numbers were: 1500-$9k,1800-$9.9K, 2000-10K, 3000-15K !!! So I started saying " dont you think its a little about he market rate?" he goes, "DONT TALK TO ME ABOUT PRICE".. what the ?? I was shocked the way he responded to my question, SO RUDE ! I didnt know what to say ! I was quiet for the rest of the time.. and just walked out.. Call me sensitive, but I DO NOT WANT A CLINIC TREATING ME TO BE SO RUDE .. One probably shouldnt worry about a Sales Guy, but I say, if an employee is irresponsible in treating a patient, who knows how irresponsible the technicians who are cutting my FUGs are going to be !! I just dont get it what goes on in the minds of the employees of such chains ? or are they just looking for millionaires and billionaires ???

  12. NC30, I agree with you that one should look at long term results one may not need to shave the head in most cases, one may just need to cut hair short for obvious reasons - it makes doctors job a lot easier! [ you dont want him confused and irritated while working on your head, do you? ] having said that, 1. there are people who NEVER wore their hair short, 2.it may take a LONG time for them to grow back that hair to look normal, 3. half the people these days, come forward for HT only because they know they can escape questions from people about their hair if they take a week off, which maynot be possible if they cut their hair short as its visible for a long time, (2-4 weeks maybe ?) 4. the same people may NOT be in a position to wear a hat while at work ! but for all those who dont have these issues, cutting hair short doesnt matter!!! PS:I dont mind cutting my hair short 'cause i dont have any in the first place!
  13. Enviro, When did u meet Dr. DiStefano ? very recently, a month ago, when i met him, he claimed that he will do FU work .. although, i didnt specifically ask if he does all-FU work.. let me know..
  14. Guys, I was in the hunt for good docs in this area.. I visited Bosley in 2001 but was just scared by his price (I have not even known of this site then!!!) I dont know about the doctors who work for Bosley in particular, I met Dr. Craig in MHR in 2002, later, Dr. DiStefano, Dr. Leonard.. unfortunately i dont see as many positive posts on these docs as I see on Dr. Hassan, Dr. Shapiro, (maybe I could say Dr. True ).. I am meeting with Dr. True soon.. will keep you posted.. But if there are people who got a transplant with these docs and just reading these forums, please do post your experiences.. I will too as soon as I get mine..
  15. burnedbyBos, where did u get the procedure done? your id hints that it was Bosley..
  16. Paul148 & NW, Thanks for your responses, its good to know whats coming.. Who were your doctors for both HairTransplants ? and how satisfied were you with them ? thanks.
  17. My1stHT, If I understood you right, Dr. CHarles said, after HT, the numbing of scalp is going to be there for several weeks or even a year ?? I havent heard this this before.. maybe because for most people its not a concern ! Isnt it going to be irritating to have it numb for such a long time ??? Has anyone heard this before ? please respond..
