  1. Another TOP result from H&W. They really do in one session what some other clinics do in 3. Bearing in mind this guy can look this good in a year instead of three. It really is amazing how many awesome results H&W churn out. For them, dare I say 5000 graft has become the norm. Their work is truly incredible.
  2. From the therapies you have mentioned, only propecia is a proven treatment for haiross. Laser therapy is thought to be very poor, and PRP, while promising, is still unproven as yet. mmhc is right, propecia is your best bet, but get it from your doctor- not on the internet. That way he can monitor your progress and for side effects. Side effects with all drugs can potentially be dose related, meaning that a lower dose may help you to avoid them. In terms of effectiveness, some HT docs recommend MWF dosing with 1mg, since 5 alpha reductase (the enzyme propecia inhibits), is inhibited for 72 hours with a single dose. see the following link written by Dr Jerry Cooley (a coalition doc): http://www.regrowhair.com/non-...oss-every-other-day/
  3. Hi guys, I'm not shedding at the moment, but wondered if working out/whey protein could cause shedding. I think you guys are right about testosterone and hence DHT increasing whilst lifting, although I've heard this is short lived. Anyway, I've decidied to continue working out, I'm also on propecia and figured I'm doing everything i can do. Besides, I'm going to go bald anyway, better to be buff and bald than skinny and bald a bit later.
  4. My geography of America is REALLY bad, but other docs I know of that offer PRP are: Feller, Choi, Glenn Charles, Epstein, Greco, Jones and probably a few more.
  5. Hair is there, I can see what you are saying, but, I think it is naive to believe propecia will work forever. This is a graph from the 5 year propecia study. Findings are AVERAGED: Hair counts fall after year one, although they are still above baseline (where you started). You say that 'IF' he loses his hair in 10-15 years - his family history is not favourable as he said he'll end up like his dad, which means he has a very high chance of future loss. Also, even when on propecia, some guys report loss of effectiveness after 1 year, 3 years, on average 5 years, but a few 7 or 10 years. It also depends on how early you start it. The fact is, even if he gets a HT at 20, he could be looking at more loss by the time he is 23 or 24. It's important to plan a hair transplant properly, going for a mature hairline. Ideally, I would say that the only time a hair transplant is appropriate in a young guy with a family history of advanced hair loss is if they are on meds, and they require 3000 grafts to the front third (like thana did). That way, when hairloss progresses, the guy is still left with a natural pattern. propecia.bmp
  6. Congratulations adam, tremendous improvement - and there's more to come. It's difficult experiencing hairloss at such a young age. I'm glad you've got your confidence back, you deserve it!!
  7. OK, sit back and take a deep breath. I think you've done the right thing by getting on propecia, but give it some more time to work. I'm 23 and am receding, approaching a Norwood 3, although my crown is fine. Last year I was desparate for a Hair transplant, I very nearly got one with a UK doc who is a butcher. Since then I have sarted propecia, which has stopped my loss. I have decided not to pursue a HT for the time being because I did my research on this forum and realised it is not in my long term best interest. Why? Because propecia loses its effectiveness after a few years and my hairloss will progress. I dont want to be left with a tuft of hair at each temple. Having looked at Hasson and Wong's results, I know that later on in life I can get a decent head of hair. The best advice I can give you is: stay on propecia, try using some nanogen fibres and get creative with your hair (I use a faux hawk which is good for receders). When your hairloss progresses, you'll be in a better position to get a hair transplant that will look natural later on in life aswell.
  8. Please Grow Please, you're right about all the hype that went with lasers. As we know, they don't work. But I came across something about lasers that bothers me: http://www.charlesmedicalgroup.../Procedure/laser.php , look who's offering it. But the pics are a bit dodgy, before with a flash, after without. I think you're right to be sceptical about PRP and we have to wait for more results.
  9. I agree, it would be great if we could stop Finasteride but still maintain our hair with PRP. But let's not get carried away, I know the pics look promising from Dr feller and Dr Choi: http://www.mcmedgroup.com/mcprphair.html , But PRP is still experimental and shouldn't replace any FDA approved treatment for hairloss, otherwise we risk losing ground. However, as TomR is experiencing side effects with finasteride, it makes sense to give PRP a shot. Keep us updated. It's interesting though that in the clinical trials, some men that continued with finasteride despite side effects, discovered that they went away. I think that in SOME men, such side effects are caused because they are anxious about the possibilty of such side effects and as a result experience reduced sex drive etc.
  10. Hi, so it sounds like your transplant is OK, with the exception of the kink in your transplanted hair. If that's the case, I'd like tp draw your attention to this thread: http://hair-restoration-info.c...021021073#6021021073
  11. Hi Guys, I found some pics of PRP results online from Dr Choi (don't know who he is, but read his name a few times). Some of the photos show improvement in patients with more advanced hair loss. I found this interesting because there are very few pictures of post PRP results on the web: http://www.mcmedgroup.com/mcprphair.html
  12. This result is truly amazing, as are all of H&W's results I've seen. When I'm ready for a transplant, I know where I'm going!!
  13. I Think both are great surgeons, and if the rest of the HT docs (non coalition, obviously) were half as good as these guys then there wouldn't be a need for so much repair work. However, in my opinion, I feel Dr Hasson's work is a bit better as he is more aggressive when appropriate, which gives a more dramatic transformation. What are everyone else's thought's on this?
  14. I Live in Scotland, so legislation means they can't offer that service over here. I prefer to see my GP about this since he's a bloke though. However, it's essentially the same thing.
  15. Part of me thinks this looks kind of good and part of me thinks it looks kind of weird. I think anyone considering this needs to see it in person. What about in direct sunlight, will it be easily noticeable? How well does it blend with the patients remaining hair? These can only be answered by seeing it in person.
  16. Hi, I get a Private prescription from my GP (the NHS wont pay for it), then get it from my local pharmacy. Whatever you do, don't be tempted to buy it online. One stat I read recently was 90% of drugs bought online are either fake or poor quality. If you really don't want to see your own GP, I know spex (Dr feller's UK guy) can put you in touch with his GP who can prescribe it for you. Whichever pharmacy you get it from, ask the price first, it can vary between ??90-140 for 84 tabs (3months worth). I'm also hoping to get some PRP done soon when it arrives over here.
  17. Hey man, I know how you feel. I'm 23, approaching a NW3 (Front only) and have been on Finasteride for 12 months. The drug basically stopped my hairloss for now. I've not had any sides, and getting on the drug has been a great decision for me. My advice would be do your research. I looked at the clinical trials on propecia before I started it. There is basically a 2% chance of sides. In the trials, guys who got sides returned to normal on stopping treatment and some of those who stayed on the drug despite sides found the sides went away. Propecia is your best bet to fight hairloss, but only you can decide to go on it or not. It tends to stop hairloss for 5 years, after which it usually resumes.
  18. Awesome result. Congratulations, you must be thrilled. Everyone will be wondering who your wife's new man is!!
  19. Hasson and Wong are the best of the best! They do the largest megasessions and extract the most grafts. Therefore, if there is a better method of doing scalp exercises - We've yet to find it. I'd go with Jotronics video. The scalp exercise tool thing sounds like a bit of a gimmick. Use the tried and tested method for 30mins a day, four months before your procedure.
  20. Hi Guys, thanks for all your replies. I'm working out and eating a high protein diet (through food). The only time a supplement is really required is post workout for fast absorption, as whole foods need to be broken down first, which delays absorption. So I've decided to try liquid egg whites post workout. Apparently its absorbed very quickly and is 100%bioavailable. I'll be using treated egg whites - so I don't get food poisoning Besides, if Rocky did it, it must be good
  21. Thanks for all your help guys!! I think for the time being I'm going to steer clear of protein shakes just in case. Does anyone have any ideas for what I can have post workout as a fast source of protein (other than protein shakes)?
  22. Hi, I know this subject has been discussed to death in the past but wanted some Doc's input on it. Can whey protein shakes accelerate hair loss in those who are genetically destined to go bald? I found this on One HT Doc's website (not a coalition member): http://www.drshapiroshairinsti...tion/nutritional.php After reading it I'm a bit confused......
  23. This is interesting....I had considered this last year, but I remember Spex posting up a patient who had had this done, but it turned purple after a few years. The guy then went for a transplant with Dr Feller. This seems like a decent option, but the question is whether it looks natural or not. You would have to shave your remaining hair like twice a week for it to look right. The other thing you have to think about is will a shaved head look suit you when you are 50?
  24. This is just a quick link for anyone that's interested. It's to a forum where Joe Greco is answering peoples questions about PRP: http://www.baldtruthtalk.com/showthread.php?t=833
