Hey mate. Yes, of course. I am glad everything turned out well and hope you get good results and specially what you have paid :) Surely a win win situation for you.

Sitting tight myself for another 23 days before I give my month 5 update.

As per Eugenix, I am on the slow side so hopefully new hair will pop out where there are gaps right now.

    Cheers

Do you think is this because you aren't taking meds like Finasteride, Minoxidil etc. ?

I might be wrong but what I have seen in Eugenix youtube videos that almost every patient is on Fin post op and within 4-5 months they have almost head full of hair !

Not sure if you stop these Meds hair growth will be effected !!

I have to be honest and say that I am not yet certain about which clinic to choose. As a NW5a, I estimate I have about 160 square cm to cover. At 30 FU's per square cm, that's about 5000 grafts. I have been quoted 3500 grafts by Eugenix, 4000 grafts by Medispa and 3000-3200 by Darling Buds (Dr. Bhatti). Medispa and Dr. Soni made the most sense initially because they are offering the higher yield with the combination of FUT/FUE. Since I will definitely want a second procedure in the future, it seems that most of the people I consider to be trusted advocates in hairloss (Joe TIllman, Spex, Melvin on this site plus doctors like Dr. Rassman) recommend FUT for high Norwoods in order to maximize the yield and set-up the donor area for future surgeries. Yet, I see great FUE results from Dr. Bhatti and Eugenix for patients like me, some of them with 7000 grafts or more (not all in a single session). Obviously the use of beard/chest grafts are used to supplement the donor area capacity. This has been making my decision harder since I would prefer to keep my hair shorter in the back. SMP is a great option for linear scars from FUT but it just adds another procedure I have to consider. So, to answer your question, I haven't yet made my final decision. If I choose Medispa, I will be going in December since I will have four weeks vacation, which gives the FUT surgery more time to heal before returning to work. If I get FUE done with either Dr. Bhatti or Eugenix, I can go earlier in the year, perhaps as soon as July, depending on the coronavirus situation. I really need the first surgery done so I can start getting past my obsession with my hairloss. It has simply dominated my life in the last few years, leading me to make poor decisions which have had a negative impact for me emotionally, financially and with my relationships. It's time to get the problem fixed once and for all! I wish I could say that cost isn't a factor, but it honestly is the biggest factor. However, all 3 of these clinics make me feel that I can't go wrong with them as my clinic of choice.

How about you? What has made you consider Medispa? The FUT/FUE combo? I am starting to feel more confident that FUT is not the only option anymore for higher Norwoods, given the use of beard grafts and the experience of both Darling Buds and Eugenix in this area. It has really transformed the HT landscape having this option now. Before, FUT was the only option if you were a NW 5 and above. The donor area was simply too valuable to leave to the higher transection rates from FUE and lower number of hairs available. When I hear Dr. Bhatti talk of transection rates around 2% for FUE, that just boosts my belief that FUE, when combining scalp and beard grafts, is just as viable an option for extensive hairloss sufferers.

I am totally with you on first part. I have actually contacted only Eugenix and Medispa. Both the clinics have qouted 4000 grafts. The first clinic has suggested 3K donor grafts and 1k beard gratfs whereas the latter suggested combo of FUT+FUE for better result. I am also looking to keep my hair shorter lets say grade 1 or 2 that is the reason i am quite concerned over FUT scar. I have also got the same response that FUT is always better for higher grade baldness as this way donor is safe for future HTs. But after seeing great FUE results from Eugenix for higher NW baldness I am confused to go with FUT combo or FUE that is the reason I am unable to make my final decision.

I have been doing my research since late 2017 and my decision about considering Medispa was because accidentally I came across one youtube video of their clinic showing amazing result of the HT then I started looking more about Medispa and after 6-7 months convinced that this is where I will be going for my HT. FF to 2019 July or August where I came across this amazing platform (accidentally again) and started going through posts one by one and I found about Eugenix and their HT results.

BTW I contacted these two clinics in Nov 2019 through emails and call, since I was going to India in Feb so thought of visiting these 2 clinics and consult them face to face but due to COVID situation I had to cancel it, lets see now!

Hi @mitts Here is the reply from Dr. Soni's office re: HT:

"According to your scalp pictures around 4000 Grafts can be extracted from safe donor zone in order to get the best results by Combine technique (FUT+FUE)
**FUT (Strip) procedure with TRICHOPHYTIC Closure (Trichophytic closure is a technique which leaves almost negligible or minimal scar at donor site).
      Cost  $ 1 USD/Graft
     For 4000 Grafts =  4000 USD /-

(Coverage will be Front and  Top)

     Other Expenses: - 500 USD/-

    1.  OT Charges
    2.  Nursing Charges
    3.  Investigation Fee
    4.  Food Charges on the day of  procedure
    5.  All Medicine expenses on the day of procedure

    Expense 4500 USD +18% TAX(GST)Extra."

Hi @kirkland, Thanks for sharing the details.

There is not much difference in the fees. I had also received the exact same details except for the currency :D Yours is in USD and mine in INR.

Did you make a decision already to where you are going and when ?

P.S. I saw your comment in other post which was around March, there you mentioned that you will require 7000 grafts. Was this number given by Eugenix ? because from Medispa its 4000, that's a huge difference of 3000 grafts..!!

  4. Hi @thappa, Thanks for sharing your updates. Its disappointing that you didn't get the expected results but it depends on patient to patient how you will heal.

I am no expert so can't comment on what to do next, but I hope upon your next visit you will discuss in detail with him.

I would suggest go through below study to "Determine the Efficacy of Topical Minoxidil plus Micro-needling/derma-roller versus Topical Minoxidil Alone".

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30886475

I have been following Medispa for about an year or so and I was impressed and convinced to go with him (next year may be) when I visit India. However I came across this platform few week ago and I have seen some bad reviews about Medispa which has influenced my decision a bit (not completely).

I had a telephonic conversation with Him recently and since my grade of blandess is 5. So for me combination of FUT + FUE along with TRICHOPHYTIC closure is suggested.

Every time you violate the skin, you'll scar.  All transplant procedures leave scars.  What type scar? It all depends on the technique.  FUE scars can be as small as dots which can be easily covered as the hair grows.  For this to happen it is imperative the doctor use a punch no larger than .9 mm.

Scars tend to dissipate with time.  A lot depends on the color of the skin. and wound physiology.

    True and rightly said @LaserCap

@nordicwarrior Here is the video which of how the scars of FUT and FUE looks like and it also depends on patient to patient.

None of them have mentioned an FUE/FUT combo. I am scheduled to see Bisanga in London next month, so could raise it with him then. Once he's had a proper look at my donor area and FUT scar he will be in a better position to advise.

@filthiestfish if you are looking for Combo FUT + FUE then there is another doctor whom I have been following from few months and results are very good.

Check @Dr. Suneet Soni from Medispa clinic in India.

@Annijoy31 You look great at this stage of your journey. Plenty more time for even more improvment.

Great meeting you in person @Eugenix Hair Science in the last few days while I was there for my own hair transplantation as you know Im on my way home now and will be updating when I get a chance.

    All the best Annijoy .

    ............Paddy.........

Hi @paddyirishman, What grade of Baldness you had ? Can you also share your post of before and after the transplant?

    Thanks.

  8. Thanks for your reply @Sean and @LaserCap.

This is the dilemma I have, Indeed FUT can yeild more grafts than FUE and even though "Trichophytic Closure" is performed Scar will be visible if I want to keep very Guard 2 or 3 haircut.

The reason you are seeing miniaturizing hair because I have been using Derma-roller (micro-needling) On & Off since 1-2 years along with Abott CG210.

After reading few posts and seeing few videos about Minoxidil, from this week I started using Minoxidil 5% Rogaine Foam based 2 times a day along with Derma-roller, I will continue using it for 3-4 months. Let's see how this therapy works on Me.

BTW, here are some more pics from around July 2015.

  9. Hello, how are you all doing?

I am new to the forum and started following it for 3 weeks only. I wish that I would have known about this forum earlier but rightly said better late than never.

Here is my short story about my baldness. I started loosing hair at around 18-19 years of age (it wasn’t that much then) with receding hairline and then gradually increased which affected my look and confidence (I started looking 5-10 years older than my actual age).

I am currently 29 years old and this is my current situation (photos taken 2 weeks ago). Looks like NW-5. BTW I have never taken any meds like Finasteride/Minoxidil. Just taking Biotin capsules and doing Derma roller (micro-needling) regularly along with CG210 hair spray.

But now I am almost convinced that Hair Transplant is the only way to get the desired look and results so from last 1 and half years I started my research about Hair Transplant.

After shortlisting couple of clinics, I have contacted them (I don’t want to reveal their names) and recommended different technique for HT:

    1. Recommendation from Clinic 1: 4000 grafts can be extracted safe donor zone using combined FUT + FUE technique with “Trichophytic Closure” method.

    2. Recommendation from Clinic 2: 4000 grafts cab be extracted, 3000 grafts from scalp safe donor area + 1000 grafts from Beard using only FUE technique (as my donor area is weak)

Now I have few queries and concerns regarding the techniques recommended by each clinic for HT:

    1.       I have learnt that FUT leaves linear scar on your scalp but if done with “Trichophytic Closure” which leaves almost negligible or minimal scar at donor site and hair can again grow from Scar. I want to understand and know the reviews of this technique from the people that how true is it and can you keep very short hair after FUT??

    2.       I also understood that FUE also leaves very minimal scar but not as visible as FUT, So what are your reviews on results of using scalp and Beard grafts for HT.

I wanted to keep the post short, but anyways I appreciate your time and looking forward for your response on this.

Thanks and have a good day.
