  1. I don't think it is a double cowlick. I would suggest getting on Rogaine and/or Propecia to help prevent further loss, but it doesn't look too bad.
  2. The chances of continuing to lose your hair are really high without medications. It is always up to the patient of course, but not taking meds could aide in losing more hair and/or more surgeries to repair the extra loss.
  3. You should know how it's going to look around 4 months. The scar should be faded back to normal color by then, and should give you a real idea of how it will look.
  4. Thank you all for your comments. Greatly appreciated. I will keep you updated with his progress over the next 6 months.
  5. I don't know of any studies for when to lift heavy weights. All I can say is from my past experience in my practice. I allow my patients to resume normal activities along with exercise and weight training 7 days post op. If they are in competition or doing extreme weight lifting I suggest them wait til 14 days post op. There is no stretch in the scalp with lifting weights. You get a lot more stretch from looking down, and putting your chin to your chest. If you do that and it feels tight, then avoid those positions. Otherwise go for it and lift as much as you want.
  6. I always remove my sutures 7 days post op because no matter how nonreactive the sutures are supposed to be, they still cause irritation to the scalp and if left in too long, can cause more scarring. The longer you leave them in the higher chance of having "railroad tracks" form. This is the scarring that is caused from sutures and has nothing to do with the incision. If you leave your sutures in too long, something that can also happen is your skin can grow up around the sutures causing increased scarring. The goal is to remove irritating foreign body out as soon as you can. I always place deep, simple, dissolveable sutures to take the tension off the outer suture line which also helps to prevent the incision from widening.
  7. This patient is 6 months post op. He received 1851 grafts in his hairline and is growing very well.
  8. This patient is 9 months post of from his 2nd surgery. His first surgery he received 2537 grafts, and he received 2213 grafts in his 2nd surgery.
  9. First, what is the balding history in your family? Do you have any brothers that are losing their hair? Since the medications do not work very well in the front, the option I would suggest would be to get a hair transplant. I would suggest that you look at many before and after pictures from coalition Drs. Every Dr has their style of a good looking hairline so make sure you go with a Dr that you like and are comfortable with.
  10. This patient received 2738 grafts total. 1400 in the front and 1338 in the crown. He is 1 yr post op. I know what everyone is thinking. Why did I take his pictures with his hair combed this way? This is how he came into the office. He loves the ability he has now to come his hair this way and this is how he styles his hair. He is thrilled with the outcome. Now we are ready for part 2 where we will finish the crown in the next few weeks.
  11. Dr. Lindsey, So sorry to hear the news. We wish you all the best with your family and will continually keep your daughter and family in our thoughts and prayers. Please keep us updated with her progress.
  12. This patient is 1 year post op. He received 2121 grafts in the hairline and 500 grafts in the crown.
  13. This patient has had a previous strip surgery of only 700 grafts by another physician that didn't yield much growth. Because of his existing scar he had and I could also tell he healed well, we did another strip surgery removing the old scar. Now his scar has healed so well it's extremely hard to find and the patient is very happy.
  14. This patient is 1 year post op and has grown very well. He received 1401 grafts: 507 singles 888 doubles 6 multis
  15. Yes, I apologize for the slightly blurry pictures. Sometimes when we see patients towards the end of the day it gets pretty dark in the room. I don't want to have the lights on since I want to have the same lighting in all the pictures. I just need to bring my tripod in so they will still be clear with the slow shutter speed.
  16. This patient is only 6 months post op. He received 2653 grafts in his frontal third. His transplant will continue to thicken up over the next 6 months, but has already had some great growth.
  17. This patient is 1 year post op from his 2nd surgery. The first surgery we transplanted his hairline. 2nd surgery was to touch up his hairline and transplant his crown. Total grafts in hairline: 2046 Total grafts in crown: 2000
  18. Dr Lindsey, This is such a great result for this young man. I have a niece who has had 3 heart transplants (starting when she was 1, she is now 18) and has beat cancer (not related to her heart problems) 5 different times. She is currently finishing up chemo for her last round with cancer. Although she loses her hair each time she goes through chemo, I believe her hair has always grown back. To have to go through everything these kids go through and then be self-conscious of their appearance as a result is so sad. So glad you were able to help this young man and that he can feel good about his appearance and proud of the fact that he beat brain cancer. Hopefully there will be even more thickness to his transplant as he reaches his 1 year mark for each surgery. Again, great job and good luck to this patient in all of his future endeavors.
  19. Many of you have been following TakingThePlunge's hair transplant journey. Here are pictures from start to finish. Let us know what you think of his transformation. Surgery 1: 2516 grafts (pictures show pre-op and 1 year post-op) Surgery 2: 1833 grafts (pictures show immediate post-op, 1 year post-op, and scar 1 yr post-op)
  20. Thank you, yes he definitely has a new look. We didn't do more grafts because he has poor donor density and his scalp was tight. He is happy with the results we were able to give him though.
  21. Thank you for all ofthe kind comments. Hariri, I use the lateral slit technique with custom cut blades on all of my patients.
  22. That is a fantastic result! This could be a great treatment plan for a lot of our female patients who are difficult to transplant because of donor availability. She must be thrilled. Great job Feller.
