  1. WOW PA, what a great result thus far, happy for you bro, I'm on generic finasteride at the moment and I swear I'm easily losing 20+ hairs a day, I'm wondering if name brand might actually work better for me instead of generic, I've been on it for about 5 years and I believe what it's done is slowed the loss down but it's far from completely halted it as we know happens, good on you for documenting your finasteride journey, posts like this are invaluable for those of us trying to figure out the next step in this process, much credit and respect, keep us posted : )

Oh other than fin do you take anything else? I know you commented on Rogaine but any biotin supps or anything like that?

if you believe that you can't trust your doctor's own graft count sheet, you probably shouldn't be getting surgery because you're putting way more at risk in the hands of that surgeon than simply if he/she cheats you out of a few hundred grafts - at the end of the day we are all taking a leap of faith with surgery, albeit a calculated risk, but I tend to believe the vast majority of doctors are ethical and honest to their patients - the bad ones ultimately weed themselves out with their bad behavior

Great points raised here in regards to the fact you are putting far more at risk than just a few hundred grafts and also that the unethical doctors would naturally weed themselves out over time with bad experiences and poor results - appreciate the input : )

A count sheet or chart sheet obviously documents the work , which in turn is filed for future reference which benefits everyone if an issue were to arise. I never requested or asked about it, simply assuming their expertise was in check. Good point to raise, since the fee is based on per graft , hence the grand total. This is such a meticulous procedure in and of itself and I would think the graft sheet would be the norm.

I'd never heard of an actual count/ chart sheet before so thank you for that info, that actually makes sense that they would file it for future reference as well due to subsequent procedures.

    Hi Kiwi Guy,

Thanks.  As far as I remember, after extracting the FUT strip, technicians were dissecting the strip  and meanwhile  Dr K started extracting the grafts via FUE.  When all the extraction was done then doctor started implanted all the grafts. As per what I remember, Dr was also cognizant of the time as generally grafts have limited time after the extraction (but there are certain ways to retain the grafts as far as possible  without effecting the quality.). I personally didn't felt anything during surgery since was on Valium etc.

Oh ok that's how it works... yeah I was going to ask you about the time the grafts were out of the scalp as well so thank you for answering that. Are his prices $8 per FUE graft and $5 per FUT graft like most of the other clinics or did he charge you one rate for the two different extraction types?

  5. Bernstein has a lot of youtube videos and seems to know what he's talking about. His results in terms of beard to beard transplants etc seem topnotch. From what I understand the reason he isn't spoken about on here is something to do with legal issues between himself and this site... not sure of the exact details.

  6. Hi Nick, great choice to go with Dr Konior, from your pics you can already tell this is going to be a good result, the scar looks amazing as well. Best of luck with the growing...

In terms of the FUT/FUE mix that you had how does this work? Does he extract the strip via FUT first and then implant those and go back after to do the FUE? Really interested to know how the FUT/FUE mix works because you don't see these cases very often... thank you for sharing your experience bro.

The clinics should be charting the graft numbers regarding the size, numbers, and exact placement location of the recipient area.

Every patient should be asking about this before the procedure starts and insisting the numbers are being charted...then go over the numbers with the doctor/staff before you leave the clinic.

There's no reason they cannot provide this for every patient.

Oh ok so this is industry standard or does it vary from clinic to clinic? This is definitely something I will ask the clinic when I do my consults. Cheers Gill.

A graft break down. Meaning how many 1’s, 2’s, 3’s and 4 hair follicular units made up your graft count.

I disagree Markee, while money is a big propenent to anything in life, it is not everything. I’m sure the feeling of changing someones life is as satisfying as money, but it lasts a lot longer. In many aspects, it’s an accomplishment, much like an artist to a painting. It’s something they can point to and say that’s my work.

Yeah there is a component of artistry in the best hair transplant surgeons that's for sure... good point Melvin.

  9. Hey redarmy, my suggestion is do some thorough research through these forums and you will find a general consensus from other guys that are going through hair loss and have had hair transplants etc which will dispel the notion of a lot of these home remedies and what not. You can always give it a try, track the progress (if any) just to say that you tried it for yourself. I think some of these guys are making light of your question because they have been going through this process for years and are vets when it comes to all of this... forgetting that at one point in their journeys they were also in your position and didn't know what was fact from fiction... it's all good bro.

I think the answer of Legend was very funny, hilarious actually.

Unfortunately, I agree with Melvin, this fairy tales about hairloss go around since Julius Cesar: Hanging upside down, massage, topical beer (or piss of sh.t or garlic or spe.m, can be continued...).

I recommend to do some sport: Will also increase blood flow and while not growing hair it will help your general health. If you want to fight hairloss, there is FIN (DUT), Minox and maybe KET or PO.

    What is KET and PO?

Good idea. I take a few more under matural light and take a closer look.

Thanks for the input. I plan on getting a long term strategy. I have an online consultation set up with Dr. Diep in February and am currently in talks with H&W (recommending FUT??) along with a highly thought of local consultant. The front and hairline were always the priority.

Dr Diep and H&W are awesome surgeons, especially regarding FUT. I think H&W are recommending FUT due to the simple fact you risk less transection of the hairs which would be essential with a limited donor. Would you be able to handle a strip scar? That's another factor too bro.

Trust is a big component.  But there are a few more things to consider.......Review tons of photos....Notice graft numbers and the density achieved with said number.  Also, quality of hair.  Fine, light hair will typically look more natural but you need a greater quantity to achieve the density of someone with similar numbers but with coarser hair.  Next density.  Given the instructions of the doctor to his staff, the staff could double up grafts per site.  This will provide more density, particularly going farther back into the pattern. A comprehensive conversation with the consultant and the doctor are very important, particularly during the initial consultation.  Lastly, look at the place, location, equipment...There is a reason for all these things.

Really good points made here, so a lot of it still comes down to trust in spite of the amount of money we are paying for these HT's... so it's far from an exact science. I guess that's just the nature of this particular industry right now. I've seen some footage of Erdogans team counting as each graft is extracted so I was wondering if this was industry standard or not. I hope some of the other seasoned HT patients on the forum chime in so we can get some more definitive opinions as well.

  13. Hey guys,

So scrolling through this site for months and researching all the various HT results one thing I find myself thinking is "is that really the amount of grafts that person paid for?". Often times I see photo's post surgery where someone paid for X amount of grafts and it just doesn't look like it's near the amount they have stated they paid for. This might just be a case of my untrained eye but it still concerns me being that we are paying top dollar for these procedures. So my question is... what confirmation is there that you are getting the grafts you paid for or do you literally just have to trust the clinic has implanted the amount you paid for?

  14. I'm sorry to hear that mate, thank you for sharing your experience and for helping those of us undecided on which HT surgeon to go to. Dr Diep has slowly been sliding down my list of HT surgeons for awhile now and sadly your case is another example of why. He is good at hairlines, seems solid at FUT but his constant butchering of these donor zones that I see just doesn't cut it (pardon the pun) for me. Stay positive bro, Dr Nadimi's work will make the world of difference : )

I had my first procedure 5 years ago and did a lot of research before then. I wasn't crazy about Diep's work then. After I had my transplant, I stuck around the forum for a bit then rode off into the sunset. Got a second procedure this month and revisited the forum. It had appeared Diep's stature had risen in the past 5 years. But when I see what he did to this patient's donor site, I'm appalled. Just a completely irresponsible approach to harvesting.

Yeah I hear you there. I think he does really good work on the hairline and also his FUT work seems really solid but his donors consistently seem butchered with the punch sizes he uses. Is there a correlation between his good hairline work and his larger punch sizes... is it a double edge sword? Does he get good grafts from his bigger punch sizes but also depletes the donor zone in the process?

Yes, Dr. Nadimi does beard hair extraction for FUE. On my donor area on back of my head she used a super small extraction tool which even after 1 day of healing there was almost no sign of extraction. She says she can use that same tool or smaller one for neck hair extraction. So I'm not worried about scarring on neck, just whether or not the hair will look natural when placed on scalp is all i'm concerned about.

Do you know what size punch she would be using for neck hair extraction? Is it an 8mm punch? That may still leave scars
