What is your Norwood level? (I'm sure you've mentioned this previously - I don't have time to dig into your profile history. )

I know you first went to Dr. Harris and not much (if anything) grew.

DR. Diep (1700) + Dr. Nadimi (1300) for a total of 3k grafts - doesn't seem like you had much hairloss to begin with.

BTW I am also a former patient of both Dr. Harris and his quack gynecologist assistant "Dr." Shelley Lovitt - what a horrible clinic

Not sure if you ever keep up-to-date with Dr. Harris - but seems he has turned his clinic into a straight-up Bosley business model.

Yeah no worries, i think i was a NW 3A with a 5/6 future pattern. My loss was very much focused in the front. Fortunately finasteride has been working for me, so I think I haven't lost much in the last 10 years or so. If it stops working i'm open to hopping on DUT or buzzing my hair and doing SMP. Based on how my donor looks already i think i have another 1500 grafts in the tank (if needed). Also, I hear the cure is coming out next year...🙄

Sorry to hear about your bad results with the clinic. I didn't find your specific thread, but sounds like you had Dr. Mwamba do repair work so I'm hoping that turned out well for you. Good for the readers on here to know that a bad result can be fixed, as it can definitely be depressing. Much better to get it right the first time though and not have to play catch up.

  2. Hey Baldies,

Almost didn't post this since it's kind of a pain in the ass to organize all the pictures (and also I forgot my password) but I have a duty to help my fellow Norwoods!

I had my third transplant last week (first with Dr. Nadimi). The two main goals of the procedures were to:

    1. Soften the hairline and add density
    2. Even out my donor area due to my last procedure only taking grafts from one side of my donor (discussed ad nauseum in my last thread)

Overall my experience with the clinic was excellent. Karen at the front desk was very responsive and helpful throughout the whole process and did an excellent job putting me at ease before surgery started. Dr. Nadimi took the time to thoroughly discuss goals, expectations, medical therapies, etc. with me. She obviously cares greatly about her patients, which is likely a big part of the reason she's such a good doctor!

I'll aim to post updates every few months. Happy to answer any questions about the process.

Pictures (all taken within a few weeks of each other)

Good--pre-op pictures in favorable lighting, favorable hair length, etc.

Bad--pre-op pictures highlighting the harsh hairline, lack of density, etc

Donor (pre op)--grafts were only taken out of my right side last procedure, hence the density difference

Donor (Day 4 post-op)--already looks better than the side where no grafts were taken from IMO

  3. Hey Baldies and Former Baldies,

Wanted to get some advice related to SMP.

I had an FUE about 3 years ago and although the recipient area grew fantastically, the donor was harvested too aggressively (and only on one side) leading to patchiness on one side of my head (full thread linked below).

I have a consultation next week regarding getting SMP done into the thin patch above my ear. The goal would be to make the right side look more similar to the left side by reducing the contrast between the thin and non-thin area.

Initially sounds like it'll be in the ballpark of $500, which is nothing compared to the $15k spent on the original plugs--though my main worry is that it won't look natural and will end up looking worse than just having a thin patch.

    All thoughts/advice appreciated.

    Left side (for comparison)

This post has been reported by a longtime member, I’ve stayed away from this thread because the Diep witch hunters automatically scream bias if I even respond, but others in the community are starting to take notice. It’s beginning to be ridiculous, every post is about Diep. Diep has over a dozen happy patients on this forum with excellent results, including me.

Ha! I never understand why you get shade on here. IMO this forum is very pro free speech which makes it an amazing place to learn and research. I've said dumb shit on here before and never felt censored by any stretch of the imagination.

You got a great result from Diep, as did many other people, and that deserves to be communicated. Some people get less desirable results, with Diep or with other recommended docs, and that also gets communicated.

Ultimately it's up to the researcher to decide for themself.

Below is a list to research and if you want my experience I’m willing to share as well, I can also share a photo of my best friend who had surgery last July.

Responding on this because i was tagged--I would say my procedures was overall a success.

Granted I'm looking into FUE options to touch up the donor, but compared to my before pic my hair is MUCH better. Obviously the donor issue is a negative, but it's possible that I might not have gotten good results had a smaller punch been used on the donor.

Given my situation going into the op I took the gamble of a more aggressive surgeon like Dr. Diep. Whether that paid off or not is subjective, but I'm currently looking at a situation of either 500 ish FUE grafts to fix a fairly minor issue or, as some have suggested, just leave it. Overall not a terrible position to be in.

Beard hair is reliable, chest hair less reliable. Honestly, the best thing to do is nothing. No one probably notices except you. You’ve got an amazing head of hair now, enjoy it 🙌🏼

This right here haha, go enjoy your life man, you look great

    It's quite possible I won't do anything.

I've reached out to a few docs to get some options. I'm assuming the options will be:

    1. Nothing

    2. Fue scalp hair from left side

    3. Fue beard hair

    4. Smp

I'm leaning towards option 2 or possibly 3.

I think that’s an excellent idea, or maybe you could use your beard hairs?

    Ooo that's a good thought.

I don't think i'd want FUE scars on my face, but could maybe use chest hair.

Are body hair transplants reliable? I haven't seen much conclusive evidence either way on here (i might not be looking in the right places though)

  7. Wanted to get the group's thoughts on a potential FUE from my left donor to right donor to even out the thinness.

Not surprisingly, taking grafts from one side leaves that side thinner--even with my donor area ~2 inches.

I'm thinking something like 500 grafts above the ear area could reduce the contrast. My buddy had an Artas FUE with Dr. Alexander and that turned out well.

    Thoughts on strategy, doctor, recommendations?

@baldlivesmatter awesome journey man. Im just finished 7 months and quite pleased with my results as well. If i may ask, did you notice any changes in density or texture or growth of your hair after month 7? Just wondering what to expect for the next 5 months, thanks!

    Hey Shook,

Tbh, I didn't watch it too closely after about the 7 month mark except for the donor. Reason being that I was happy with my recipient area at month 7 so any additional growth was just a bonus.

I think there hair thickened/darkened a bit in the second half of the year, but nothing substantial.

From looking at your 6 month update you already have a killer head of hair. Probably time to be less worried about your hair and more worried about getting fucked to death by the fairer sex 😜
