  1. Guilty! That is, in fact, a picture of me in the 80's. Ah, the good old days! I still bang my head but it hurts more now due to less padding. :(

  2. Hello Everyone! As some of you probably know by now, I just had my second procedure with Dr. Alexander last Monday. The plan was to add 1500 grafts to fill in areas of low density from the first HT and also lower the hairline. My strip ended up yielding 1833 instead! I had a great experience and I'm thrilled with the design of the new hairline. I just created a new photo album with some pics I took with my webcam. Not great quality but I'll update it when Dr. A sends me the pre and post-op pics that he took. I really want to thank Dr. Alexander and his staff for taking great care of me and doing all they can to ensure that I have a great outcome this time around! As always, I also want to thank all the members of this community who have offered their knowledge and support over the past 14 months. Here's to the next 10 months of growth! TTP
  3. Pat, I'm loving the new social network! Thanks!

  4. Hey Spex! I hope to meet you one day. My sister lives in the UK. Maybe our London visits will coincide at some time.

  5. I normally get my hair cut (sides and back) with a #3 clip and the scar is completely invisible. Once I tried a #2 and it could be seen at that length.
  6. Bill, You can bet I'll be adding pics and commentary as I embark on my second HT journey. Thanks for all the support!

  7. Thanks for all the well-wishing fellas! I'm in good spirits. Dr. Alexander really came through and I can't wait to see how things develop over the next several months.

  8. mav, Thanks! Yes, I'm going back to Dr. A. Despite the slight lack of density at this point, Dr. Alexander did a great job on me. My results are completely natural and my scar is amazing. I'm confident that this one will give me the results I'm looking for.
  9. mav, I like your new hairline and I think you made a good call. It appears to be very strong yet still mature. Thanks for checking out my pics. I do believe that I'm one of the fabled "slow growers." It appears that I've seen some degree of improvement in density and hair quality up to the 14 month mark but the results have fallen short of my expectations. The top down view still reveals a lack of density so I'm going in next week to fortify the thin areas and also lower the hairline a tad. I plan to post updated pics by the end of the week.
  10. Lind, I wish I could say something to allay your fears but I'm afraid that only time will tell at this point. I agree with Sparky. The grafts do appear to be too large and spaced out to produce a desirable result. You will most likely need another procedure to correct this. I know it's easier said than done but try to stay positive and give it time to heal and grow. It may take up to 10 months before you can really assess your results and then I'd consult with the doctors that Sparky recommended. In the meantime, keep us abreast of your progress and know that you are not alone. There are many guys on this board who have been in your shoes. Best of luck, TTP
  11. True Brit, Congratulations on your recent HT! I hope you will keep us informed of your progress. Cheers, TTP
  12. mav, It looks like you're making great progress! The work looks very clean and refined and I'm sure you're going to have wonderful results. Your new hairline looks great and will surely frame your face nicely but some may consider it a bit aggressive. I'm wondering if you mapped out a plan with Dr. Path for future hair loss. Since you have seen some thinning on top and have chosen not to take Propecia, how do you plan to deal with that possibility? All the best, TTP
  13. PD, Congratulations on your decision! It sounds to me as if you've done your research. After consulting with so many doctors, I'm sure you've got very realistic expectations for the number of grafts you're getting. I wish you all the best and I hope you will continue to update us on your progress. TTP
  14. Congratulations Nuckingfuts! It's always great to hear about another positive experience. Can't wait to see your results. TTP
  15. Congratulations on your decision to do something about your hair loss. I look forward to following your progress. Best of luck! TTP
  16. Welcome to the board! It sounds like you've taken the right first step. This forum is a goldmine of information and there are many knowledgeable and helpful members here. Your next step should be to acquaint yourself with the list of recommended doctors and evaluate their before/after photos. All the doctors in the coalition have proven results. You can't go wrong with any of them but they do vary in price and approach. The best doctor for you may not be the best for the next guy. Once you've narrowed down your top choices, schedule a few online consultations and see what they recommend. Don't limit yourself by cost or distance. I hope that helps you to proceed in your search. I'm sure there are folks here with much more advice to contribute. Best of luck! TTP
  17. nogrow, Allow me to be the first to welcome you to our community! You certainly came to the right place. Cost is normally the biggest hurdle to overcome when considering a HT but some of the best advice you will get here is that price and distance should not be your top concerns when choosing a doctor. Dr. Tykocinski is recommended on this board and, as such, has demonstrated consistent, high-quality results. You can read about the selection criteria here. Have you had a chance to thoroughly review the list of recommended doctors? From Australia it seems that Thailand and Pakistan may also provide reasonable options. I recommend that you schedule a few online consultations. Once you've narrowed the list of possibilities to two or three then search the board for patient feedback. Regarding the scar, I'm 15 months post-op and I do sometimes feel a sensation in the donor area. It's not pain or discomfort of any kind but maybe a tingle. Whatever it is, it really doesn't bother me and is well worth it in my opinion. I hope this helps. Best of luck in your search! TTP
  18. Nicky, At six months your HT seems to be looking very good. How does it appear from the top and sides?
  19. Sunnycoastman, According to their own web site, "In clinical testing, ROGAINE?® Foam regrew hair in 85% of men after 4 months when used twice daily." As I understand the research, Rogaine is meant to be applied to the crown or top of the head and has not been proven effective when applied to the front of the head. To my knowledge, Rogaine has been shown to grow hair in some men but not to slow the loss of existing hair. For that you need a DHT inhibitor like Finasteride which not only slows hair loss but also may grow new hair. I believe that is why most doctors will recommend that they are used in conjunction with each other. Unfortunately, there is no way to know if these medications will work for you. I started both Finasteride and Rogaine at the same time and have seen a significant change in my crown area. Is it the Rogaine? Is it the Finasteride? Is it both? I have no way of knowing so I plan to keep using them both daily forever or until a better option comes along. I'm one of the lucky ones who have not suffered any severe side-effects. I use Rogaine liquid. It costs me about $17 for a six-month supply. My Proscar costs me about $60 for a one year supply. For less than $8 per month I'm happy to keep all the bases covered (and my crown too!) Hope this helps! TTP
  20. Maxxy, I couldn't say if any of your proposed solutions would work but I can offer my personal experience. I work online full-time and have done so throughout the entire HT process. I'm legally-blind to boot! My head constantly has to move up and down and all around just to see things and my scar is perfect! I've asked my hair stylist two or three times to find the scar and she can't see it even when I point it out. She is completely amazed at how invisible it is. Granted, I don't go any shorter than a #3 clip. I think that if you are careful you'll be just fine. TTP
  21. Delcolorado, Thanks for sharing your experience! You must be very excited to see how things will develop. Like Ja-Man I'm curious about your plans to start meds. Have you discussed this with Dr. Wong? What is his opinion? Please keep us posted on your progress! TTP
