  1. I just ran across this stuff from a link on Yahoo's main page. Don't know anything about it and I'm sure it's a bunch of hype but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it. Ookisa
  2. Simply an amazing transformation! I'm thrilled for you man! I hit my 12 week mark tomorrow so when I got my HT done you were where I am now. If I get results like that in the next three months I'm gonna flip for joy! I'm really impressed with your hairline. Enjoy!
  3. I started getting them up top around the one month mark. Just one here and one there. Around the start of month two I got a few more but nothing major. What worried me was that I got about five in the donor area along the scar. Most went away but there are two that are still hanging in there. I called my doctor because I was worried that they might keep the scar from flattening out all the way but he said there was nothing to worry about. I have to admit that I'm not good about leaving them be and have popped several of them. I've read mixed ideas about how to deal with them. The good news is that they are supposed to be an indication that good things are happening below the skin!
  4. Congrats! You made a great choice. I'm just a few days short of the 3 month mark from my HT with Dr. A and will be posting updated pics to my web log this weekend. Not much to see yet but good things are on the horizon I'm sure. Your experience mirrored mine to the last detail. I too had some ideas about my hairline that were quickly and somewhat curtly squashed but I found this to be encouraging. I went to Dr. A based on his reputation and figured that the best thing to do was trust his instincts. He is not lacking in confidence, that's for sure! I hope you start a blog so we can stay updated on your progress. Good Luck!
  5. Not what you are gonna want to hear but... I work from home and only have to see my co-workers about once a month for meetings. I scheduled my HT right after one meeting so I knew I would have a month to heal before I had to go anywhere without a hat on. Dr. Alexander expressed confidence that my procedure would be undectectable by then based on my skin type. After a month, the top of my head was still too pink. I thought about making up a story about sunburn or something but the pattern was too regular and I didn't feel it would fly so I ended up calling in sick. Last week, I finally had to face people without a hat for the first time and I'd say it looks totally normal now but it took me about two months to get to that point. Everyone heals differently so some of us have an easier time than others. Good luck!
  6. I was once where you are now. I had my first consultations in the early 90's when I was in my early 20's with two docs who (thankfully) told me I was not yet a candidate and to come back in ten years. I spent the next 10 or so years not loving my hairline but having enough that it looked ok. During that time, my hair was always on my mind and I was always thinking about getting an HT. At the age of 35 or so, I had lost enough that there was nothing I could do with it anymore. I just buzzed it short and tried to get comfortable being "the bald guy." To make a long story short, I could never get comfortable with that look on me even though people would say positive things to me like, "you've got a good head shape for that look", etc. I really struggled with the HT decision and spent hours going over posts, results, opinions. I was on a roller coaster. One day I was definitely doing it and the next there was no way I was doing it. We've all seen the pics of the guys with the bird's nests on their heads. The deciding factor for me was that I knew I would never be happy with what I had, period! At the age of 40, I decided to just do it because I knew that in the hands of a good doctor, I wouldn't end up looking any worse than I already did and the chances were very good that I would see a significant imrovement. No matter what happened, I knew I wouldn't spend another minute wondering "what if?" Don't get me wrong, on the day of my procedure, minutes before the doc started cutting me up I almost bolted for the door! I'm glad I didn't. I'm only two months post-op so I don't know what my results will be, but I'm so glad it's behind me and now I look in the mirror each day in anticipation of good things to come instead of that old sinking feeling that all is lost. Whatever you decide, I wish you luck!
  7. Hey Eman, Looking good! I'm three months behind you and hope I get just a portion of the results you got by month 5!
  8. Your hair looks great! Very inspiring for those of us just beginning our journey. Thanks for the update!
  9. I was really reluctant to use it too. The thought of the side effects really scared me. But, after spending the cash on the HT, I figured I'd better do all I could to keep what I've got. I started using it a week after my procedure and I've been on it now for 5 weeks. So far, so good. I haven't noticed any problems yet. Keeping my fingers crossed! I agree with what others have said here. Give it a try. Most likely you'll be fine and if you have a reaction just discontinue use.
  10. Thanks! That did help. By the looks of the video, I was using the right amount. It lasted me 5 weeks so I guess I won't complain!
  11. Anyone else have difficulty measuring the amount of foam to use? The directions say about 1/2 capful. I thought I was doing pretty well but I'm four days past the one month mark and still have not finished the bottle. I don't want to short change myself on the dosage. Any tips?

  13. Thanks to all who replied. I ended up calling in sick. I feel pretty guilty about that but at least I don't have another meeting until April so hopefully it won't be an issue by then.
  14. Thanks for the input guys! I'm leaning toward missing the meeting but I'll probably take a look at some hats tomorrow. We don't have to wear suits. It's pretty much khakis and collared shirts so a hat wouldn't look too odd but no one else ever wears one so it'll require an explanation of some sort.
  15. Hey guys, I'm one month post-op. Just uploaded a couple of pics to my weblog. Anyway, I work from home and typically only see my coworkers once per month. I've got a meeting next week and I'm still very pink on top. The scar is pretty well hidden by my hair so that's not a problem. Our meetings are supposed to be business casual so a hat would not be acceptable normally. After this meeting I don't have another one till April so that should buy me some time. The options I've come up with are: 1. Call in sick. (would be frowned upon) 2. Get a dressier type of hat rather than baseball cap and tell everyone that I have an ugly bruise or injury on my head from some kind of accident. 3. Sunburn? One of my close friends who knows what I did said no one will believe that since it's too regular and defined in shape. I'm open to any other suggestions. Thanks in advance!

  17. I had my procedure with Dr. Alexander on January 2nd and I'm very satisfied so far. He has an excellent reputation on this board and takes a lot of pride in his work. I suggest that in the days leading up to your consultation, begin writing down questions and concerns that you want him to address. Best of luck with your decision.
  18. Having just had my procedure on Jan 2nd, I can relate to your situation. I spent years researching and experienced many ups and downs. I'm 40 and have been balding since around the age of 20. I had a couple of consultations in my early twenties and was told that I was not yet a candidate for surgery being that I had a mature hairline but the rest of my hair was very thick. About five years ago it all started thinning out and I lost most of the frontal third. This Web site helped me to finally make the decision to go through with a tranplant but, on the day of the surgery, as I was sitting in the chair and awaiting the first cuts, I had a moment where I wanted to jump up and run out the door. I just took a moment and thought about all the research and rational thought that went into my decision and realized that the HT was what I really wanted and from the moment the procedure began I felt very comfortable with that. I'm glad it's behind me now and I'm looking forward to seeing the results. In the end, it's a very personal decision but if you've gone far enough to have a consultation and schedule an appointment, take a moment to reflect on what brought you to that point. Good luck and keep us informed.
  19. During my initial consultation with Dr. Alexander he mentioned having a transplant. I don't remember the details though.
  20. I had a great experience with Dr. Alexander and his staff. They went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and I'm very happy with the results so far. He was very communicative throught the procedure and explained to me what he was doing and why every step of the way which not only satisfied my curiosity but also went a long way to keeping me calm and relaxed during a very long and fatiguing process. I was originally hoping for a less conservative hairline but I trust Dr. Alexander's instincts and knew that he would give me what he felt was the best option for me based on my degree of hair loss, etc. He said that the quality of my scalp and hair was excellent and that I should expect to see great results in six months or so. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I'll be updating my blog monthly so keep an eye out!
  21. Getting the HT tomorrow. Wish me luck. I just created my Web log. I'll update it with post-op pics as soon as possible.
  22. I'm also getting 2500 grafts. Glad to hear that you are happy with your results Gizmo and happy birthday! This has been a tough decision to make and it took years. I look forward to my journey and also to starting my web log so that I can give back to this community and hopefully be able to answer questions for the other guys who are out there on the fence like I was. Bill, I feel like I know you. I've read tons of your posts and followed your progress. Your hair looks great and you are doing good work here. Keep it up! I'll be keeping an eye on Tubs and Eman too. Good luck fellas! Things are looking good so far!
  23. Thanks for the positive feedback guys! Yeah, I'm trying to figure out what my cover story will be on New Year's as to why I'm not drinking.
  24. Hey guys, I've been lurking here for quite some time and, like many of you, have been researching and considering a HT for years. Today I made the decision and will be having my procedure done on Jan. 2 with Dr. Alexander here in Phoenix. I'll be creating a web log and documenting my progress. Just want to say thanks to all the contributors here who have provided the wealth of information that allowed me to make an informed decision.
